Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Young voters who came of age during the George W. Bush years are giving the Democrats a wide advantage in party identification, just as a previous generation of young people who grew up in the Reagan years fueled the Republican surge of the mid-1990's. In surveys conducted between October 2007 and March 2008, 58% of voters under age 30 identified or leaned toward the Democratic Party, compared with 33% who identified or leaned toward the GOP. The Democratic Party's current lead in party identification among young voters has more than doubled since the 2004 campaign, from 11 points to 25 points.

See all you naysayers, Chimpy is a uniter.

YEAH!

Bush is to Young New Democrats what Reagan was for Young New Republicans!

I wonder if nac can elaboarate on how and why the republicans now seem "cursed"?

Article says "58% of voters under age 30 identified or leaned toward the Democratic Party". Thank God they don't vote. Every election, the "Year Young People Changed America" is declared.... and then they all stay home and play PlayStation.

Wasn't there just an article about how mind-numbingly stupid today's youth is? I smell a corollary.

For once, libs have something to be happy about regarding Dubya's reign of terror. Where's the love?

Bush Inspires Young Voters to Join Dems

Hell, Bush has inspired young, middle aged, and old voters to join the Dems.
Actually, the Dems are losing voters as fast as the Republicans as a huge percentage of new voters are now registering (or, like me, re-registering) as "independents" -- the fastest growing group of new voters in the country.

DUMP BOTH PARTIES -- REGISTER AS AN "INDEPENDENT"!

YEAH!

Obviously you and se4 missed the point of the article!
"The youngest voters in 1992 -- the members of Generation X -- were more Republican than most other age groups, in part reflecting the fact that they had come of age politically during a time in which conservative ideas were ascendant and the presidency was held by a popular Republican, Ronald Reagan." "The current generation of young voters, who came of age during the George W. Bush years, is leading the way in giving the Democrats a wide advantage in party identification, just as the previous generation of young people who grew up in the Reagan years -- Generation X -- fueled the Republican surge of the mid-1990's."

As dumb or not they may be, GW's reign of Terror will negatively impact the "republicans" for at least two decade ---- if not More!

I smell Denial!

Uniter/divider/inspirer...
all that'll matter is the election results in November, and I ain't makin' any predictions.

"Wasn't there just an article about how mind-numbingly stupid today's youth is?"

That's why they didn't start deserting the Republican party during REagan's term. It has taken severe problems to wake most non-news junkies wake up to the fact that the Republican Party has declared class war.

For once, libs have something to be happy about regarding Dubya's reign of terror. Where's the love?

Nice try, OohRah, but it's not a reign of terror, it's a reign of stupidity. Al Qaeda are the terrorists, remember?

I'm no longer convinced that Al Qaeda exists.

You know Bush is partially responsible but since he can't run for president again then it must mean that John McCain is inspiring them to register Democrat because he is the one they will be voting against.

Or then again it could just be all the Republicans.

I'm no longer convinced that Al Qaeda exists

Al Quaeda does exist.

Moe-Hammed is their leader.

On Topic?

Young folks are the demographic of the Dems except fer Hilldawg who seems to attract the "one foot in the grave & half their brain cells already dead" crowd.

Bush the "Uniter".

Baby Booshling has united practically the entire world in their collective hatred of the man's crimes against humanity.

Mission Accomplished, fucktard!

Be Well.

"Bush Inspires Young Voters to Join Dems"

Finally, the worst president in living memory manages to make a positive contribution to his country.

A grateful nation salutes you, chimpy!

Moe-Hammed? Why I oughta.

Spud, check out the stoogeum.

I'm still hoping that Newty GingGrinch (or gangrene) will throw his hat into the ring.

A man who dumps his wife on her death bed will make for lovely smearing.....although calling your first wife a 'cunt' in from of reporters makes for good material too....Ohhh...lets not forget having a junkie for a 2nd wife, who also happens to be a thief that was caught stealing drugs from a clinic for the poor......good stuff!

Young people tend to be more liberal but many of them grow up and see where they were wrong.

I was a Democrat when I was young too. Then as i aged and grew wiser I realized Democrats are the root and cause of everything that is screwed up in the US. I was even a volunteer for McGovern I am embarrassed to say.

"Then as i aged and grew wiser I realized Democrats are the root and cause of everything that is screwed up in the US."

Riiight. What an amazing stupid comment. What really happened is then you started listening to Rush and were brainwashed.

Who caused the S&L Scandal of the 80s?
Who caused the presnt economic woes???
Who got us stuck in Iraq?

Quit listening to Rush and come back someday and say something halfway intelligent.

"Young people tend to be more liberal but many of them grow up and see where they were wrong."

Baloney. Many get jobs, move ahead and notice that they have to pay taxes. Well, we've had the Boomer generation whining about taxes and lowering them for a few years now.....how do things look???
Clue....taxes are a necessary evil. Our parents realized that and didn't whine. I am ashamed of my own generation. I honestly am embarrassed to be a boomer.

"(or, like me, re-registering) as "independents" -- the fastest growing group of new voters in the country."

CC - I am an independent but I registered Dem for the California primary so I could do same day voting. They probably are counting me in those 'new registered Dems' file but there is no way in hell I would vote for any of the 3 leading candidates in the general.

Well, given that Newt is not a global climate change denier, that would drive the mindless GOP followers nuts. Like putting them in a round room and telling them to piss in the corner nuts.

we will see how that "youth vote" thing turns out.. highly over rated

and vote for more war, more slime, or bring our soldiers home.

I'm happy they have an opinion., and want to express it. If you're young and are not a liberal, you don't have a heart. If you're old and not a conservative, you don't have a brain!

One thing all voters should agree on, is that if you are asked to spend extra money...for anything....VOTE NO! If private money can't do it and make a profit, giving the money to a bunch of fuckin lawyers is crazy!

The middle of the road has changed, if alive today JFK would now be a Republican.

In the future the Democrats kids will be painting with feces and getting a scholarship to college.

The middle of the road has changed, if alive today JFK would now be a Republican.

Yeah, just like his brother Teddy, his daughter who supports Obama and the rest of the clan who are all still Democrats. Listen to the words of Dwight Eisenhower and Barry Goldwater. Then we can both agree the middle of the road has changed because CRAZY people took over the Republican Party. You could say, These ain't your father's Republicans.

"JFK would now be a Republican."

Doubtful.

Absent the Cold War--and the Dems need not to get screwed by GOP McCarthyism--JFK was much too intelligent and too much a student of history to be a Republican.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."

Sound like the GOP platform to you?

Hey Bush:

and as usual over the next 20 years one by one these newfound liberals will get over their new found ideals when they see how much it will cost, the freedoms they lose, the new government regulation, and how patheticly weak and corrupt the democrat party has become.

Or, maybe, once the young people see how typical rightwingers like CrackPipe Junkie are total idiots, they will realize that the Democratic Party is the only intelligent hope for our future.

Now moder8 we both know that statistically the republican party is better educated. Thats why the dems are so easily riled with emotional appeals.

They don't need facts or objectivity to scare granny that her social security check will be confiscated from her.

Actually, you just pulled that "fact" out of your ass. Like hell Republicans are more educated. And if by some slight statistical amount that happens to be true (which I doubt), it still doesn't change the fact that the typical rightwinger is not only stupider than the typical liberal, but also a bigger hypocrite and panty pissing wuss scared of everything around them. If my life experiences have taught me little else, it is that most rightwingers are assholes.

Or, maybe, once the young people see how typical rightwingers like CrackPipe Junkie are total idiots, they will realize that the Democratic Party is the only intelligent hope for our future.

You must remember that all politicians(sorry) are bottom feeders. What this means is-Come the revolution, they will all be consigned to the bottom of the Mariana Trench-making them perfect for their species

Even the diehard Republicans have finally realized that Bush has handed them a foreseeable future of being on the outside looking in. Now, in the final months of his godawful presidency, having mutated from lame duck to dead duck he's become even more of a void and the vacuum he always was. Nature, abhorring that, has filled his entire presidency with a shitstorm of failure and disaster and the shit is finally sticking to him and by extension the entire GOP.

There is something sadly half-hearted and pathetic about the way many GOP supporters here trot out their worn-out talking points. In the reality of Bushworld even they can tell that these tired old bromides are, like their chosen candidate, simply inadequate to the massive task at hand which is to redefine and rejuvenate their party so as to give young voters something to vote FOR rather than against.
