Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

A leader of the Democratic Party under Bill Clinton has switched his allegiance to Barack Obama and is encouraging fellow Democrats to "heal the rift in our party" and unite behind the Illinois senator. "I am convinced that the primary process has devolved to the point that it's now bad for the Democratic Party," said Joe Andrew, who was Democratic National Committee chairman from 1999-2001.

Maybe the rest of the SD's will muscle up to the Clinton Machine and follow suit (finally)?

The Momemtum is with Obama now. Clinton can not mathematically win this. Indiana and South Carolina voters who vote for Clinton will only be making John McCain and Rush Limbaugh happy.

His national lead to Clinton gone, his lead over McCain gone, his 24 point lead in NC down to nearly nothing, losing in Indiana.... yeppers, downward momentum.

You want to post some stats to back that up?

And would like like to place a bet on who will be the Dem nominee? It will likely be announced in June.

It would be nice to see the more vitriolic sniping cease, but I for one see the Hillary-Barack dialogue as constructive. Whatever vestiges of ill feelings may come from it will be forgotten by November, but the after-effects of eight tyrannical Republican years will still be fresh in our minds. herm

Why is it that legislators and presidentisal candidates can be corrupt and take money, and administrators are excluded, not granted a license to steal? It's unfair to the grunts who do all the work.

Obama Paid By Donor Who Got State Grant

Legislators and aspirants to the U.S. Presidency can be crooked sleazeballs without rebuke? Is there a license to steal granted to them?

Obama Paid By Donor Who Got State Grant

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

As an Illinois state Senator, Barack Obama received more than $100,000 from a company owned by an entrepreneur whom Obama helped to obtain a state grant.

Robert Blackwell Jr., a contributor to Obama's campaigns, began paying Obama an $8,000-a-month retainer in early 2001 to provide legal advice to his technology firm, Electronic Knowledge Interchange.

At the time, Obama had recently completed his unsuccessful campaign for Congress, and had numerous debts and a law practice he had neglected for a year while campaigning, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Obama had been so strapped for cash that his credit card was initially rejected when he tried to rent a car at the 2000 Democratic convention, Obama disclosed in his book "The Audacity of Hope."

The monthly payments from EKI supplemented Obama's $58,000-a-year part-time state Senate salary, and eventually totaled $112,000.

"A few months after he received his final payment from EKI, Obama sent a request on state Senate letterhead urging Illinois officials to provide a $50,000 tourism promotion grant to another Blackwell company, Killerspin," the Times story disclosed.

Killerspin runs table tennis tournaments around the country and sells its line of equipment and apparel, along with DVD recordings of the tournaments.

The day after Obama wrote his letter urging that Killerspin receive the grant, Blackwell contributed $1,000 to Obama's Senate campaign.

Killerspin eventually received $320,000 in state grants between 2002 and 2004 to subsidize its competitions.

Blackwell is credited on Obama's Web site with committing to raise $100,000 to $200,000 for Obama's presidential campaign.

According to the Times, Obama did not specify on disclosure forms for 2001 and 2002 that EKI provided him with most of his private-sector compensation.

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs told the Times that Obama did nothing wrong in acting on Blackwell's behalf for a "worthy project" developed by a constituent.

David Axelrod, Obama's chief political advisor, was more vehement in his statement: "Any implication that Sen. Obama would risk an ethical breach in order to secure a small grant for a ping pong tournament is nuts."

His national lead to Clinton gone, his lead over McCain gone, his 24 point lead in NC down to nearly nothing, losing in Indiana.... yeppers, downward momentum.

----

Since the PA primary, Obama has been picking up SDs by a roughly 2-1 margin over Clinton.

Texas superdelegate John Patrick endorsed Barack Obama today, citing his record of standing up for working families and opposing trade deals that fail to protect American workers. Patrick explained:

The endorsement brings the total number of superdelegates to endorse Barack Obama to 249. Barack is now 283 delegates away from securing the Democratic nomination.

That's 283 delegates, less one more Pastor Eruption and a Rezko ( "The Other Shoe" ) sighting.

He is tanking in NC and losing in Indiana.

Hang on to your 1 poll that has him behind in NC!!!! He's still up by over 7 in NC in the RCP average, and within the margin of error in IN.

In the meantime, the SD's keep on slip slidin' away.

Corky don't forget Hillary could have some more memory problems any time now too. I noticed her visit with Bill O'reallyaliar when he said Bill Clinton was basicly responsible for the high gas prices and she sat there and didn't even object...personally I thought less of her for going on that dispicable POS's show.

HE NEEDS A JOB....

Corky,

You know what Hilary needs to seal the win? More great ideas from John McCain. Maybe they can get together and come up with another interesting Holiday to go with their "Gas Tax Holiday". Check out this handy
calculator to estimate how much you would save over the 15 week "Holiday".

I'm looking at a sweet estimate of $9.86. That's about enough to pay for my lunch one day. Thanks Hilary/McCain for all your great ideas!

They say -- never trust a person with two first names for a name. I'm sure the Clintons must be nodding their heads right now.

But, know what? Joe Andrew is right. He said "a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to continue this process, and a vote to continue this process is a vote that assists (Republican) John McCain." And he's right.

How does a well-entrenched insider like HRC declare victory because she remains int he race, and because she is trying to point out potential flaws in her opponent? By dividing the DEM base, that's how.

As more and more respectable DEM leaders jump on the BHO bandwagon, it's time the whole party turn toward it and start it rolling down the path toward nomination.

IMHO, I always worried about HRC as a top-of-ticket choice. The old Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton see-saw pattern just doesn't fit well. Now HRC is 60 years old, and she probably really, really wants to be POTUS. Would she be best for the nation? Certainly she'd be 1000x better than Bush.Cheney has been, but so what? So would BHO. And BHO seems to have the ability to inspire a lot of people to come out and vote.

I suspect that the long trail to Denver has helped BHO get a message that is more mainstream. I also suspect that ultimately he can win southern and blue collar DEMs if allowed to run against John Mccain.

All, in all, while I respect HRC, I'd like to see her play gracious silver medal finalist, and let BHO get on with the national campaign.

"The ship is taking on water right now," Andrew said at the news conference. "We need to patch those holes, heal the rift and go forward to beat John McCain."

Asked for a response to Andrew's decision, Clinton spokesman Phil Singer said, "We support that Democratic process and think that every American should be able to weigh in and support the candidate of his or her own choosing."

Now HRC is 60 years old, and she probably really, really wants to be POTUS. Would she be best for the nation? Certainly she'd be 1000x better than Bush/Cheney has been, but so what?

Obama >>> Chia Pet >> Hillary > McCain.

Hillary is an entitlement Princess who only has to offer a version of Republican lite to the people. Her Hubby Bill promoted himself as a "Pro-Business" candidate and indeed he was often touted by the likes of the WSJ and the NYT, Time and other "documents of record". Although their collective Health Care plan fell through Spud remembers reading that one of the guys they were gonna put in charge of it was a former CEO of Aetna. "Putting the vampires in charge of the blood bank" once again seems to be the central motif in Hill's version of mandatory health insurance as well.

The country has too much corporate control and over-influence as it is and these economic times requires a radical shift away from the status quo.

A vote fer Hillary is a vote for the status quo.

That sed, never underestimate the powers of the MSM to fool the American people into voting against their own best interests time after time after time.

This election is like a referendum on the intelligence of the average voter in the US.

A vote fer Hill or McCain is a vote for the same old/same old system that has failed so many folks in America to date while ensuring bigger bottom lines for the investor class who, quite frankly, don't really need the help.

The problems in DC are massive and institutional and are decades in the making and no one person is gonna be able to solve them overnight.

That sed, only somebody not steeped in corrupt cronyistic old school politics has even half a chance of begining to effect the much needed changes there.

This election that one somebody is BHO.

GObama '08.

Be Well.

Obama >>> Chia Pet >> Hillary > McCain = Bush/Cheney.

Sorry, fergot to include the last part of that formula there.

Rather obvious, of course, but there it is.

Be Well.

Hillary must truely be a first class bitch. Support she thought she had wrapped up are leaving her like fleas off a dead dog.

Memo to Death's PUD:

You show disdain for 'pro business' types.

What will 'anti-business' types do for the economy?
[answer: put the economy in the toilet]

In order to have an economy (let alone a successful
economy) you have to have persons such as CEO's,
business owners, entrepeneurs, economists and the
like control the complicated economic machine.

YES - people who actuall know what the fuck they are
doing SHOULD CONTROL THE ECONOMY.

You liberals want to experiment and fuck with the US
economy - BE VERY CAREFUL.

You could kill the golden goose.

You show disdain for 'pro business' types.

What will 'anti-business' types do for the economy?
[answer: put the economy in the toilet]

Ah Dean Vulvia, the corporate biatch shows up right on schedule.

Here's the deal, snowflake.

America has propped up dictatorships and crushed democracies in order to help American based business increase their bottom line al hte while claiming the exact opposite.

Rape, murder, torture, wars, misery, wage slavery, crushed unions, black ops, assasinations, wotever it took.

America has done so for almost a hundred years but really started getting serious about it after the second world war.

Back in the day, what was good for American based business was also for the large part good for Americans.

This is longer the case.

In modern times the more "Pro Business" or corporately corrupted and overly influenced the government has become the worse off the citizenry gets. This is the very opposite of democracy. Russia had election too and that never made them a democracy either.

Bottom line is that the human race has always been run by a ridiculously small number of it's population and he have arrived at a place in history where that no longer needs to be the case.

Where pro-corporate means anti-people or anti-sustainable enviroment they must and will be challenged.

To do otherwise is an act of insufferable ignorance and cowardice.

People like you Dean, make me fucking sick.

The MSM exists to keep the public discourse away from such knowledge and subjects and the indoctrination and proganda over the decades has worked depressingly well on the large majority of the population but it cannot continue indefinitely.

You may return to yer matrix now.

Be Well.
