Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The White House said Wednesday that President Bush has paid a price for the "Mission Accomplished" banner that was flown in triumph five years ago but later became a symbol of U.S. misjudgments and mistakes in the long and costly war in Iraq. Thursday is the fifth anniversary of Bush's dramatic landing in a Navy jet on an aircraft carrier homebound from the war. The USS Abraham Lincoln had launched thousands of airstrikes on Iraq.

You don't say.

Now in its sixth year, the war in Iraq has claimed the lives of at least 4,061 members of the U.S. military. Only the Vietnam War (August 1964 to January 1973), the war in Afghanistan (October 2001 to present) and the Revolutionary War (July 1776 to April 1783) have engaged America longer.

Two wars with no end in sight.Heckuva job Dubya.

He hasn't paid nearly enough.

He should be at The Hague for War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity. Oh and those that supported Him should be forced to Iraq to clean up their mess that they made. It would suit Me just fine.

"President Bush is well aware that the banner should have been much more specific
That SOB isn't aware of anything but what unka dick TELLS him to be aware of.
Well-that and his gameboy...

It served its purpose. A photo op for Him to use for His upcoming(As of then) Presidential Campaign. THAT was the ONLY reason for the Banner and Landing on that aircraft carrier. So He could be something He ain't. What a fucking piece of Shit He is and ever shall be. Rotten to the very core.

As Hitler's invasion of Russia was a mistake. Gallipoli. The charge of the light brigade in Crimea. Goliath agreeing to meet David. We've had a number of "mistakes" ,,, herm

Historians will define Bush's entire Presidency as a "mistake".

The aircraft carrier had to stop and turn around, so that San Diego wasn't showing in the background.
The arrival on a plane was completely staged - he could have arrived by helicopter.

The entire performance was staged by the White House and has, happily, come back to haunt them again and again and again, because it was such a fake, and a powerful symbol of this administration.

Fake news, fake military "experts", fake everything.

But 4000 real dead American bodies, though we don't see their coffins.

War crimes?

Noooooo! The used the 'm' word, never use the 'm' word!

Does this mean that all the supporters here who supported the mission accomplish will admit to the mistake too?

Nah, probably not.

"Shifting Explanations"

YEAH!

Another Apt Bush Cult Narrative!

Sounds like Book Title to me!

We all should remember back to that day and remember what we were saying at the time about that invasion. Those of you who were cheering for Bush and the invasion should be honest with yourselves and realize that your judgement wasn't very good back then and more than likely it hasn't gotten any better. If you know you have the bad judgement handicap it can help you deal with it in the future.

Hmmmmmmmmm ....... errors in judgement?

Thanks Vernon, non one single one advocated invading and occupying. You try to pretend that those who oppose invasion didn't have any other options with which to deal with Saddam which we all know is bull shit. But nice try.
So, what were you saying during the invasion???
Cheering it on I'd bet.
You should lose the right to vote.

All based on the falsified intelligence of the Bush administration. No worries though, I'm sure the blood of 4000 dead American Soldiers is no big deal Bush and his followers.

George Bush supports our troops because they support his bank account!

"Hmmmmmmmmm ....... errors in judgement?"

YEAH!

So which one was Filling in for the Commander-in-Chief? You know, who did the "Deciderin'" and all that?

Headline should read "Mission" was a mistake.

Vernon is an example of the mentality that will be voting for "more war" McBush.

Sounds like Vernon will be voting for Obama.

McBush parrotted the cheap, quick, kumbaya festival line of propaganda until even he had to admit his friends Rummy and Bush had failed.

His only complaint about the Mission Accomplished event was that Bush didn't bbq a 140 sailors when he had the chance.

Hmmmmmmmmm ....... errors in judgement?

To make it authentic the accessories include a miniature coke spoon.

Everything this Whitehouse has done has been a horrible mistake.

Why not just issue a massive mea culpa and then try to list any accomplishments this admin has made?

Definitely a shorter list.

Practically a pamphlet, in fact.

Mostly with a lot of pictures to take up all the extra space.

9/11 itself was another massive mistake Bush made and instead of paying a political price fer his deliberate inaction he ended up with enuff political capitol to launch a war that is putting the US into insane amounts of debt.

If "Fucking Up" were an Olympic event Dumbya would be headed fer Beijing this Summer and destined fer the Gold Medal.

As it is?

In terms of weakening and disgracing America?

Mission Accomplishitfucked!

Be Well.

If "Fucking Up" were an Olympic event Dumbya would be headed fer Beijing this Summer and destined fer the Gold Medal.

Oh, I dunno, he might have some serious competition from you, Spud.

Wait. Nevermind. You said "fucking up". For a second there, I thought you said, "fucking the shit-encrusted asshole of my lumberjack boyfriend".

And an autographed copy of "My Pet Goat"

no shit!

Nice, pathetic try at deflection, Vernon.

Do play again.

George W. Bush was a mistake. Where's the press release on that?

I thought you said, "fucking the shit-encrusted asshole of my lumberjack boyfriend".

From the blurb next to the item"

"This intricately detailed, articulated and highly collectible 12" figure depicts President Bush as he appeared on May 1, 2003, when he landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). While at the controls of an S-3B Viking aircraft - designated "Navy 1" - from the "Blue Sea Wolves" of VS-35, he overflew the carrier before handing it over to the pilot for landing. The figure arrives fully uniformed including helmet, an oxygen mask, a parachute and more. Stands 12" tall."

At the controls? Of what? The radio?

This coke-head was too high to fly when he was actually in the military and now we're supposed to believe he was flying the plane? Well, maybe he was....kinda like when your dad used to let you take the wheel for a little bit at a time.

I'm going to order one......and a bunsen burner.

I'm going to order one......and a bunsen burner.

Spud's gonna order one along with a really powerful magnyfying glass.

Then wait fer a sunny day.

Be Well.

But, when will America realize that the "Mission" was Accomplished?

Oil is approaching $200 a barrel from $20 when Bush entered office (remember he was an Oil man)

Oil executives are richer than anytime in HISTORY (but only HISTORY will be the judge of that!)

Wealth is being redistributed to most wealthy top ten percent of the population from the middle class. The Military Industrial Complex is in firm control of this Country.

We are now in a WAR with NO EXIT sign so that the wealth can continue to drain to the Corporate Elite who have taken to fleeing the country with their loot to Rich Arab Lands where they will be protected by American Mercenary Armies and with American Blood and American Treasure.

Yes, I would say that the "Mission" was Accomplished it just wasn't the one we thought was being accomplished....sadly.

THE MISSION WAS ACCOMPLISHED....MAJOR COMBAT OPERATIONS WAS OVER

THERE ARE MANY MISSIONS IN A CAMPIAGN... AND MANY CAMPAIGN IN A WAR

IF YOU WANT TO DEBATE IF THE MISSION WAS ACCOMPLISHED....YOU WOULD HAVE TO DEFINE... MAJOR COMBAT OPERATIONS

MAJOR COMBAT OPERATION IS....FIGHTER V.S. FIGHTER...SHIP V.S. SHIP....AND TANK V.S.TANK...A COMMAND AND CONTROL STRUCTURE AND A STRUCTURE SUPPLY SYSTEM

So Judas, a force of over 100,000 with deaths happening daily in a foreign country fighting isn't major combat?

"BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A pair of suicide bombers blew themselves up amid a wedding convoy Thursday in northeastern Iraq, killing 35 people and wounding 76 others, Iraqi authorities said."

missionaccomplishitfucked

So Judas, a force of over 100,000 with deaths happening daily in a foreign country fighting isn't major combat?

JOHN...NOPE....MAJOR COMBAT....is tank battles and jets fighters fighting in the sky...or ship on ship duking it out at sea

this is a loose organisation with small arms and some IEDs....there is no real command and control and no real organised attacks

but in order to have a decent debate on this...tell me what you think MAJOR COMBAT OPERATIONS means to you

It takes a real man to admit his mistakes, even if it's 6 years later and you're apologizing for only a minor smidgen of a huge fucking quagmire that you pursued and created like the blind fool you are.

On the 5th anniversary of President Bush's heroic landing on the USS Abraham Lincoln and speech before the Mission Accomplished banner, the White House has admitted that the banner could have been "more specific." To mark the anniversary, spokesperson Dana Perino announced that the White House will be holding a contest for families and friends of the over 4,000 soldiers who have perished, and the more than 50,000 who have been maimed since the original Mission Accomplished banner was unfurled, asking them to come up with a more specific banner.

"President Bush has always been a lemons into lemonade guy," said spokesperson Dana Perino. "He sees the contest as a way to comfort those in the military who might have thought the banner meant their lives would be safe and they would be returning to their families whole."

"We're looking for it to be fun," added Perino. "Something that both defines what has actually taken place since the President said, 'Major combat operations in Iraq have ended,' while at the same time absolves the President from any direct responsibility for the shitstorm that his actions have caused."

Some of the early entries includes...

"Huge Defense Contracts and Profits For Halliburton, Blackwater, other friends of Bush/Cheney Built On The Graves of Innocents Accomplished"

"Generating a Smokescreen to Cover up the Disembowelment of Federal Departments and Their Conversion to Partisan Operations - i.e. EPA, Justice, Housing - Accomplished"

"Protection of Osama Bin Laden by Diverting Resources from Finding Him and Those Who Were Actually Behind 9-11 Accomplished"

"Increasing Foreign Tourism by Weakening the Dollar to the Point That it Is Cheaper for the French, English and Germans to Fly Here to Do Their Christmas Shopping Than to Go to Their Local Mall Accomplished."

"Going to War With The President You Have, Not The President You'd Like Accomplished"

"Bringing Together Families in Unanticipated Ways With Widows (And Widowers) and Their Children Get to Move in with Their Own Parents in Order to Survive Life as Single-parents as Well as Families Getting to Spend More Time than Ever with Their Grown Children Now That They Get to Visit Them at Their Hospital and Rehab Facility Accomplished"

"I KNOW YOU ARE BUT WHAT AM I"

You are a republitard who supports the international criminal George W. Bush.

That makes you a Moron.

What part of Moron don't you understand?

Jud-Ass:

How much money did you spend on Duct Tape and Dehydrated Food? How many years you got left on your Moron Monthly Magazine subscription? I hear the issue on Ass-Croft and Dumbs-Field is a best-seller.

Just Asking...

Jud-Ass The Moronic:

Since the Mission has been 'Accomplished', our 'God-Blessed' Troops and bombs have killed nearly 400,000 Iraqis.

How does it feel to have all that blood running through your fingers?

Cool, huh?

Jud-Ass the Most Moronic;

I've been searching for all those 9/11 Hi-Jackers who came from Iraq - Can't seem to find them.

Are they hiding in the same underground bunker as the WMD's?

Just asking....

How many years you got left on your Moron Monthly Magazine subscription?

Actually, Dumpling, Judas has a lifetime subscription to that one.

He actually bought two lifetime subscription just in case he wants to read the articles twice.

Judas also subscribes to

Jud-Ass, El Imbcil:

Hey, you gonna git yo'self some of them billionaire riches Bush and his Freinds have made off the Death of 400,000 people who had NOTHING to do with 9/11.

Just asking...

Jud-ass, De Debiel:

Are you going to help the Bushes pack their Christian-Coalition China? Ahhh, Is that what the Duct Tape is for? Packing?

Just Asking...

FF to the Dethspud-link.

For the 'Mission Accomplished' banner to ring true it would have needed to be printed in Farsi.

Jud-ass, :

Heard a joke the other day. Faux News was asking what G.W.Bush thought about Red China. Bush furled his eyebrow then screetched: "Laura says is looks Bad, very Bad, on blue table cloths.

Now that the Red Chinese has our U.S. Ass in a sling because of The Borrower Bush...what do you think about Red China?

TO DEBATE IF THE MISSION WAS ACCOMPLISHED....YOU WOULD HAVE TO DEFINE... MAJOR COMBAT OPERATIONS

Judas-
How many combat troops are in Iraq, five years later?

130,000+....what does that have to do with mission accomplished

Judas, if ya can't figure it out on your own, there's no point explaining it to you. (Another typical rightwing idiot.)

Judas-
re: "130,000+....what does that have to do with mission accomplished"

Well, I guess to answer that, "YOU WOULD HAVE TO DEFINE... MAJOR COMBAT OPERATIONS"

"...TO DEBATE IF THE MISSION WAS ACCOMPLISHED....", that is...

"YOU WOULD HAVE TO DEFINE... MAJOR COMBAT OPERATIONS"

McCain definition is okay with me: no American casualties.
