I guess I'm looking at the glass as half empty, but I don't think either one can win now. McCain has the ability to capture the center at a much greater rate then either of these canidates. The only way Obama wins now is if the economy continues to tank, but nobody in their right mind hopes for that.

McCain has the problem of favoring endless war in Iraq, an idea that's popular with around 12 Americans outside of the Bush administration. Hillary's attempt to sabotage the Democratic candidate, for committing the unforgivable sin of not being her, doesn't change that.

I must admit, when I listened to McCain with Matthews the other night, it did make me reconsider. I used to really respect McCain.
Then I remember Dubya being interviewed with someone in 2000 and 2004 and how I felt the same way.
But in his own immortal words, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, **stutter, stammer** well, we won't get fooled agin..."

Perhaps it is self-sabatoge on Obama's part, and perhaps he might even start taking responsibility for his own remarks and actions.

Barney and Hillary will make peace soon, and in the best of worlds join forces on a ticket McCain couldn't beat with Jesus as a running mate. The two hugely competent political leaders together might go a long way toward undoing some of the Bush damage. herm

Can Obama win? I sincerely doubt it. The more he opens his mouth, the less appealing he becomes.

But, go ahead and put both Clinton and Obama on the same ticket. It doesn't matter. It's a win for McCain in November whoever the Dems end up with. Not many of us likes the Clintons anymore, and more people are recognizing how ridiculous Obama is sounding. I, for one, am not amazed at how the Dems fortunes have reversed from good to bad in only one year. And why did this happen? Basically, because the Dems really don't stand for anything that's positive for America.

1. Raising taxes is not a good recipe for a sick economy and everyone except them knows it.

2. Declaring a war lost when it clearly is not does not make you look qualified to make foreign policy decisions in a time of war.

3. Calling your critical swing-voters "bitter" and painting them as yahoos probably won't get them to vote for you.

4. Having negatives at 54% without a viable third candidate makes it impossible for you to win.

5. Hanging out for 20 years with rascists and terrorists won't endear you to very many voters.

6. Changing your story every 3 days gives every voter some reason to not vote for you, if they were even considering so in the first place.

7. Staying married to a serial womanizer just so that you'll have a better chance to get elected Senator and president does not make you look like a strong woman.

8. Trotting out the same old non-solutions which get you whipped in every other election is not a recipe for success.

This is a war we should lose. If any other country had just invaded and kill the leaders and "managed" their the country's natural resouces, I have no doubt that we would pursue Hague or world court resolution.
