Not all that long ago -- just a couple months or so. I don't even remember the exact story it pertained to but I KNOW others on here will remember the infamous DR headline. Somebody else can help me recall it.

Huffington Post reporter Sam Stein notes that the book's new reports on McCains fiery temper are well supported by other accounts of his losing his cool.

Anecdotes like these would stand out as highly abnormal if it weren't for McCain's history of similarly explosive behavior. As Washingtonian magazine documented (and Schecter notes in the book), McCain once "scuffled" with the Senate's then oldest member, Strom Thurmond, during a Senate Armed Service Committee hearing in January 1995. Three years later, the Associated Press article reported that McCain dropped F-Bombs on at least three fellow Republicans.

"I'm calling you a f------ jerk!" he once retorted to Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley.

And in a opinion piece last year on Salon.com, Sidney Blumenthal, now an adviser to Sen. Hillary Clinton, wrote that McCain once told Sen. Ted Kennedy to "shut up" on the Senate Floor, referred to a fellow Republican as a "shit head" and offered a downright vicious and doubly-offensive joke in 1998 Republican fundraiser about then first daughter Chelsea Clinton.

"Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly?" he asked. "Because Janet Reno is her father."

I hate to say it but this is Technically Untrue. If a Watch stops ticking during Daylight Saving Time the time that was last registered would be in daylight saving mode. So if it stops at 6:00PM Daylight saving time then when Standard time rolls around it will not be the same 6:00 it will be an hour faster than the Standard time. Just an FYI.

And I can understand his wife's addiction to pain killers since ruptured disks are incredibly painful and the morphine based drugs they give you is horribly addictive. Considering the age of her sons it is obvious their pregnancies and births contributed to her back problems.

I don't deny that it is a crude word, and many people would not use it in private, less so in public.

But the notion that you can not say that to a woman under any circumstances is wrong. They don't like it because they know it is on the lower rung, a term that describes a filthy despicable person, and so they viciously attack its use.

Why? Because girls are sugar and spice...

No. They want preference, an exception, a denial that any woman could sink that far.

If a guy says "you're getting a few crow's feet around your eyes," and his wife responds "at least I'm not going bald you fucking prick," I'm not sure that would be seen much differently. Both of them go way overboard for what is an appropriate response, in my opinion, and both would raise eyebrows if said in public. Of course, I'm circa 1700 though.
