Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

As the American military death toll in Iraq reached 4,000, President Bush conferred yesterday with top U.S. officials in Washington and in Baghdad and vowed in a public statement that the outcome of the war "will merit the sacrifice."

Spoken like a true coward.

The idiot never ceases to amaze.

"Trust me...when have I ever lied to you?"

"What recession?"

what wisdom produces is justified by wisdoms choices.

More like a Disneyland dad. Making promises he can't possibly foresee... or foretell... living life like a myth... much like the WMD's. The mind of a megalomaniac... bought for the price of two small tax rebates.

What has anyone except the families of the troops sacrificed??? Those families have sacrificed greatly, especially those who have lost a member of their family. Bush says it will be worth it???
I'd like to know how it will be worth it to the US.
Even if they can eventually make Iraq peaceful how does that benefit the US???

Good to see he's still delusional.

Bush has sacrificed as much as anyone else in the Iraq war. I've heard he missed his afternoon nap three times over the past 5 years. A true American hero.

Yeah and I don't think he took his 5 week vacation last year. So SEE? President Bush is hard at werk!

And to think..I voted for that genius twice! FORGIVE ME PLEASE???

Twice??!!???!!?? How is that even possible?

Have you seen the error of your ways now?

And to think..I voted for that genius twice! FORGIVE ME PLEASE???

Can't speak for anyone else, but consider it done. Please, please don't make the same kind of mistake again?

Even Pedo the kiddy clown would have been a better choice.

There is a choice, it's called Write-In, which is what I'll be doing should Hillary get the nomination.

damn, Pancho, that's the 2nd FF i've given you today.

Sacrifice? Reminds me of the end of Kafka's "In the Penal Colony"-- I'm waiting for Bush to strip, climb into the harrow that is Iraq, and tell the operator to push the "start" button.

"It did not look as if the Officer had been listening. "So the process has not convinced you," he said to himself, smiling the way an old man smiles over the silliness of a child, concealing his own true thoughts behind that smile.

"Well then, it's time," he said finally and suddenly looked at the Traveller with bright eyes which contained some sort of demand, some appeal for participation. "Time for what?" asked the Traveller uneasily. But there was no answer.

Even Pedo the kiddy clown would have been a better choice.

He was Kerry's VP choice...

"Bush: War's Outcome 'Will Merit the Sacrifice'"

So says the Sacrificer-in-Chief.

What about those he's sacrificed?

No one doubts that eventually Iraq will be a great place to live. The problem that Americans have is, how long is eventually.

Americans are suffering just as much as Iraqis are right now. $3;35 for a gallon of gas, the fact that my suburban home has lost $3000 in assessed value as listed on the last state assessment, having a child that can't get into preschool becuase my middle class ass makes to much money (?)equals one suicide bomb blast. There is no difference except in the pain.

Mr. Bush, this war may be worth it and I'm sure my grandkids will love you for it when they turn my age. But for now, the people that are presently being effected think that this is the dumbest thing America has ever done.

"outcome will merit the sacrifice....only not to you....or 99.998% of the rest of you losers. Who cares what you think"?

And to think..I voted for that genius twice! FORGIVE ME PLEASE???

If everyone learned this lesson then it may have indeed been worth it.

If everyone learned that Terror can come from inside America as well outside then it might have been worth it.

If everyone learned that preemptive strikes against other Sovereign nations need to be well thought out and not to be taken lightly by Congress then it may have been worth it.

If everyone learned that the Military Industrial complex like CACI and Titan, Bechtel, Aegis, *Custer Battles, General Dynamics, Haliburton and Blackwater are War Profiteers and should be penalized for making profits via the blood of our children and the Treasury of our Nation then it may have been worth it.

If everyone learned that Truth is the first Casualty of War then it might have been worth it.

If everyone has learned that our Energy Policy is a National Security issue and needs to be controlled by Congress and the People and not steered by the need for Profits by the Oil Industry then maybe it was worth it.

If Bush and Cheney are impeached and or prosecuted for their crimes against America and Humanity then if might have been worth it.

Donnerboy.

Real Americans bought Haliburton stock in 2001. Haliburton was there in WWII, they were there in the Gulf War. They will always be on the front lines and if I had my way David Lesar would be President of America

"Real Americans bought Haliburton stock in 2001."

REal Americans don't make assinine comments like that. Only assholes do.

it has worked out rather well for a few, Big Oil, Haliburton, KBB, Blackwater....I wonder why???

Danni Real American support US Corporations that made large sacrifices to win WWII and risked death to put out the over 90 oil well fires follwing the Gulf War.

Danni you sound like a weasel. Go back down your hole.

There is in fact a huge difference, the difference between shopping for a new pre-school, and shopping for a 4ft long casket....

Real American corporations shouldn't view war as a goldmine. Real American corporations should "sacrifice" their immense profits for the good of the nation's war effort. Real American corporations don't set up tax havens to avoid paying for the privilige of doing business here, and getting fat taxpayer-funded contracts at no-bid.

Real Americans also don't view war as a way to make windfall profit from said investments.

So it's all worth it if there is profit?

"But for now, the people that are presently being effected think that this is the dumbest thing America has ever done.

Joined the United Nations.

Now, that was the dumbest thing American has ever done.

"Danni Real American support US Corporations that made large sacrifices to win WWII and risked death to put out the over 90 oil well fires follwing the Gulf War."

Right, corporations "risked death."

Actually, during WWII some corporations did make sacrifices, during this Iraq war...no. During this war they just profiteered and ripped off the taxpayers. If Truman were president many of these criminals would be in jail right now.

"Hey, grandma..."

"Yes, dear?"

"Do you miss grandpa? Didn't he get killed by an IED in Iraq?"

"Why, yes, it was a terrible loss. But, honey, Iraq finally has running water and electricity to nearly half its people, and there are no Shia left to cause problems. Some Iraqi children even get to go to school today."

"But, I saw on the news that most Iraqis hate us. And that just the other day, two Americans were killed by an angry mob there..."

"That's true..."

"When can I go to school, grandma?"

"After my tax rebate gets here, and I can buy some gas to drive you."

"It was all worth it, wasn't it, grandma? And where is Uruguay?"

"Fuck you."

Real Americans bought Haliburton stock in 2001. Haliburton was there in WWII, they were there in the Gulf War. They will always be on the front lines and if I had my way David Lesar would be President of America

Wow, Spud didn't think there was anyone on this site stupider than Rob or Crackpipe but there ya go.

Real American support US Corporations that made large sacrifices to win WWII and risked death to put out the over 90 oil well fires follwing the Gulf War.

Hellibuton are ripping off the American taxpayer left, right and center. They were part of the corporate cabal who urged Cheney's and his retarded pet Chimp to start this corporate resource war that has made America so much weaker and more in debt to yer new Communist overlords and you STILL think they are American Pstriots?

Here's a clue, asswipe since you don't seem to have the first one in the set. Helliburton, after raking in BILLIONS in no-bid, cost-plus, no-accountability contracts have gone and built a second HQ in Dubai, just in case the American people want a closer look at their books. They have gone to evade American taxes after helping to further bankrupt the country. Their other "co-HQ" in Texas could fold up shop lickety split and America would be screwed blued and tatooed by the move.

During WWII which you alluded to earlier on, there was an entirely different vibe going on. There actually was real sacrifice. People did without. They were recycling drives. The war was a just and neccessary one. People enlisted in droves. Celebrities sold War Bonds to try and p[ay for the effort as it went along.

Shall we contrast that to the War in Iraq? The only thing being sacrificed in this war are American lives and those sacrifices like the sacrifices in 'Nam earlier are meaningless to anyone but the families hurt by them. Bush is also willing to sacrifice your children and their childrens future by pissing away 3 Trillion dollars estimated so far in this vain pursuit. That money is going mostly to Communist China which is fulfilling their plan to usurp the US as the next global Empire.

Nobody is doing without back in the US because of this war. Due to skyrocketing gas prices, due in part to this war and other inflationary nastiness people ARE doing without purely based on the crappiness of the economy but that's not the same thing, is it?

No recycling drives, no war bonds, no rationing, no sense of shared sacrifice wotsoever.

This is an illegal, immoral, illogical, counter productive resource war sold to the American public and the world with a pack of tissue-thin lies.

Investor confidence in the US is at it's lowest since back when this war first began 5 years ago.

Half the country wants this currrent admin to be impeached for their war crimes, deliberate lies and other illegal activities but the government has never been so unresponsive to the people's will as it is now.

In America, the ideals of democracy now mean less and less, as this creeping slide into corporate authoristarianism and corruption continues to make advances like a loathsome disease.

And now you lick Halliburton's ass and try and tell the rest of it tastes great and we should all feel the same way?

You are, wot Spud likes to refer to as, a fuckwit.

Next time, Timbit, think before you open yer ignorant pie-hole.

If you can, that is.

Be Well.

The great thing about predictions of "the long run" is we will all be dead in the long run, and Bush wont have to admit defeat.

Brilliant!

We have been playing ball in Bush League for 7 years now and some still can't dissect the play at the line of scrimmage. The debate has been set for discussing the possibility of a semblance of victory in oh, 5, 10, 50, 100 years. Distracting everyone of the absolute utter fucking disaster of the present.

Iraq is being held together with bags-o-cash. We have soldiers walking the streets of Baghdad paying (former) insurgents to not kill us. A few months ago these people were setting up IED traps for American servicemen, now they get greenbacks delivered to their door.

Meanwhile, Bush successfully orchestrates a parlor trick and persuades liberals and conservatives alike to debate an unforeseen victory in an unforeseen future.

Fuck that.

Iraq is a disaster NOW. I don't care if becomes a rainbow utopia in 50 years. I'll be dead in fifty years. And at this rate, so will America.

Dethspud.

You are a financial genius. I was sitting here at work looking at my Bloomberg terminal and gee I can't find anything about the US gov't defaulting on Treasuries. Surely if America is bankrupt like you say you can show me all these Tresuries in default.

Hmmm... I am tring to figure out your math. If Japan is the largest owner of American sovereign debt, how is most of our debt being bought by China. I think that what was you were trying to say but it was hard to tell because you are just so eloquent.

You need to get a real job if the gas prices are really killing your wallet. I barely notice. Maybe it is because I made so much money off Haliburton stock.

I can't believe you thought WWII was a necessary war. It was about as necessary as the British attacking the Falkland Islands.

"I can't believe you thought WWII was a necessary war."

Oh, man!

Germany attacked ("attacked") our allies. Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Both countries declared war against the U.S. U-boats were running up and down the coasts (I've dived the U-352 in NC).

Surely you must be a spoofer.

Timbit squeaks!...

You are a financial genius. I was sitting here at work looking at my Bloomberg terminal and gee I can't find anything about the US gov't defaulting on Treasuries. Surely if America is bankrupt like you say you can show me all these Tresuries in default.

You are as morally bankrupt as you are intellectually bankrupt. When Spud sez that the US is bankrupt Spud is using a term that the average Joe and Jane Lunchpail set can grok. Spud aint saying that Uncle Sam is standing in line somewhere with a filing fer Chapter 13 and you bloody well know it.

America's twin deficits and long term debt are ultimately unsustainable and the three trillion dollar (est.) clusterfuck in Iraq aint helping.

The only thing really keeping the American economy afloat is the fact that if the US goes tits up the resultant economic ripple will hit much of the rest of the worlds markets like a fucking tsunamai.

That and the Petro dollar.

If you wanna argue that the war is a boon to the American economy then yer a fool.

Hmmm... I am tring to figure out your math. If Japan is the largest owner of American sovereign debt, how is most of our debt being bought by China. I think that what was you were trying to say but it was hard to tell because you are just so eloquent

Japan holds more debt than China but China is the latest in a long line of suckers who have lent the US cash to keep on living beyond it's means (largely due to military overspending that is completely unjustifiable, btw). ChiComs holding American paper are not doing so out of the bottom of their hearts. They wanna use their "got ya by the short hairs" position to leverage their way back into taking over Taiwan w/o American Military interference. On that day, when America allows a democracy (as bad as it is) to be subsumed by a masssive communist entity then the world will know for a fact that American Democracy is officially "In Name Only".

You need to get a real job if the gas prices are really killing your wallet. I barely notice. Maybe it is because I made so much money off Haliburton stock

Ah the crass and ugly American Nouveau Riche shows it's ugly profile there. So yer lack of empathy and understanding is based on monetary insularity? Ta fer the heads up. Spud wondered why you reminded him of Reich is Right. Are you a blueblooded, trust funded, silver-coke-spooner or a self made asshole? Spud is mildly curious.

I can't believe you thought WWII was a necessary war. It was about as necessary as the British attacking the Falkland Islands.

If you were alive during WWII you woulda prolly been one of those Nazi sympathisers, like Prescott Bush, who continued to do business with the Nazi's even after America joined the war effort, finally.

The Falklands were neccessary to an extend. Magpie Thatcher was fading in the polls and like the cynical bitch she was she started the Falkland campaign to give the UK a taste of the ole "Rule the Waves" times. The Falklands were neccessary to save her political life and they worked cos right after she became wildly, impobably popular and ended up with a second term.

Kinda like Zombie Raygun and his Panamanian adventure. That was not only a way fer the brain dead amoral fuckwit to up his numbers but it was also neccessary cos the CIA was tired of Noriega skimming off the top of their drug profits.

Nice chatting wif yas, asshole!

Be Well.

I swear, it is only once or twice in a persons life that you come across a complete ignorant pig-headed fuck the likes of George W. Bush who has brought so much unnecessary death, misery, and destruction to the world and then tries to turn himself into some kind of philosophical genius when down deep inside he knows his entire life has been nothing but a miserable failure .

But isn't it even more amazing that someone this stupid and deluded to the truth could be a 2 term President of the United States.

It is utterly Fucking amazing !!!

Surely you must be a spoofer

~Eva

Actually, E, Timbit is just repeating the righty tighty smear that "Liberals are soooooo anti-Military/anti-American that they wouldn't have approved of or fought in WWII"

Like most right wing sound bytes that one was pulled out their asses and has no basis in reality.

They are also offensive as hell.

He's a real charmer, eh?

Yes, that was snarkasm why do you ask?

Be Well.

UnAmericans Profit from War. Legal or not.

Larry Mohr

If this lowlife murdering piece of trash masquerading as PUSA had sacrificed ANYTHING, anything.... well... he'd still be a murdering piece of trash.

He's a pig. A pig. No, that's unfair to pigs everywhere. Real pigs are genetically closely related to humans. George Walker Bush, on the other hand, is not.

4,000 US military men and women dead for a loose gamble, a throw of the dice, and we really don't know how many wounded and dead are on the other side. That's chapter one of his legacy.

(btw, Dimbit is a troll. I dug Spud's resopnses to "it", but please, don't feed the trolls)

He is speaking of our sacrifices, not those of him, his family, his cronies like Halliburton, the rich or the GOP. They have made no sacrifices for Iraq and never will. Sacrifices are for the little people.

And the payoff in the long-term will be theirs after they strip a few trillion out of the Treasury.

After which they will assure us the "sacrifice was merited."

(btw, Dimbit is a troll. I dug Spud's resopnses to "it", but please, don't feed the trolls)

Don't feed the Trolls?

First rule of blogworld, doncha know!

Admittedly, Spud keeps breaking that rule.

Bad Spud!! :-(

Spud sometimes has a hard time letting the trolls get away with their ridiculous shit.

Tis a bad habit.

Still. It's waaaay too fun fer Spud and soooo easy that even a child could do it.

LOL!

Be Well.

Does anyone know what Bush's net worth was in 2000 and what it is now? How about Cheney?

Real Americans bought Haliburton stock in 2001. Haliburton was there in WWII, they were there in the Gulf War. They will always be on the front lines and if I had my way David Lesar would be President of America

Why? So we could be in a perpetual state of war to line their pockets?

That's some Genius at work!

BTW, Ali-Burton is no longer an American company and should never be considered for no-bid contracts again.

The ONLY one's sacrificing are the military and their families.

W's refused to make the American public - and the wingnuts in particular - pay a dime for this war.

He'd rather borrow us into the 22nd Century and leave his pile of shit for someone to clean up - as usual.

At least no one defends the abysmal son of a bitch. The most gasp!-producing post is Wob's sick attempt to blame Gore and Kerry for the disaster. Gore and Kerry were just fine. Either would have led us to an age of peace. Gore and Kerry were smeared by the likes of Wob, who is not qualified to carry either man's briefcase. herm

Bush: War's Outcome 'Will Merit the Sacrifice'

No it won't.

And to think..I voted for that genius twice! FORGIVE ME PLEASE???

No....

I will feel better if you vote for Obama tho'.

If you vote for McCain, then you shed but crocodile tears.

"It was as necessary as the British attacking the Falklands Islands..."

Well, putting aside the fact a fascist South American regime stole their territory and kidnapped their subjects, absolutely unnecessary.

I know this has been posted before, but I ask anyone who hasn't seen it, especially those pretending to support this so-called war for America's existence, to watch:

Young Pubs of Today

The fat fuck that said he played football but didn't think he could "handle the training" is priceless.

If he can't even handle the training, it's good that he doesn't serve. Imagine that load watching your back when the training is over and it's time to dodge bullets?

That post was in reference to TFD's 'Young Pubs' link. Watch the video.

I just finished viewing a PBS documentary on this five year fiasco. The lies, deceit, and cover-up are simply disgusting! A line from Top Gun comes to mind... "Son, you're writin' checks you butt can't cover!" The American lives that have been lost, the families that have been changed forever, in view of this pack of lying fools is an abomination! This idiot could perhaps be the worst president this country has ever had.

This two-night five-hour Front Line special on PBS was superb journalism. Its major shortcoming was its failure even to speculate about why we're REALLY in Iraq. We know that every given reason, every rationale for Bush's trillion dollar ego trip, was an out and out lie, a total fabrication. But why? Oil? Politics? A chance to make Halliburton a few bucks? herm

Necktie Party!

Yes but what other possible statement can Bush make to legitimize or divert criticism from his Iraq war fiasco?
Bush knows well that you have to cover one lie with another lie or...you'll end up at a necktie party!!!

"But why? Oil? Politics? A chance to make Halliburton a few bucks?"

Hey theres at least "$30 Billion Dollars" thats gone missing from the Iraq Govt since 2004.Also the Iraq Govt is really only a "puppet govt" of the Bush Regime and so if anybody knows what happened to that $30 Billion Bucks its the folks who control the Iraq Govt i.e. the Bush White House - yes they know exactly where all that money is "stashed"!!!

Incidentally grabbing (stealing) $30 Billion Plus Dollars is not a bad reason for a bunch of sleazy slime balls to instigate an illegal war is it!

He's gone out of his way to make sure regular Americans, and especially the rich, don't have to sacrifice anything for this war. And it does make things harder on the troops. Military personnel and their families have been saddled with an unnecessarily large burden because is too much of a coward to be a real wartime president. Now the bastard says the "sacrifice" was worth it.

God damn you America for allowing this asshole to steal the election and become "president". God damn you. God damn you America for being the biggest proponent of worldwide war and destruction, God damn you for your addiction to nuclear weapons. God damn you America for spreading guns and death all over the world.

Remember the reactionary years: 1980 to the 2006. A time when all indicators of general health and welfare in America are in decline. Oh, I forgot, wealthy people did just fine. BTW: Bill and Hillary are a big part of the reactionary years too.

God Damn America...land that we used to love...

What will be the Democrats slogan this year?

"We'll end the war!"

That was used in 2006. Still ain't happening.

Think the war will end with Hillary or McCain?

I see Obama being the only one willing to pull out entirely, regardless of what happens to Iraq.

Hillary withdraw the troops when it looks politically correct, which could delay things.

McCain is looking for a domino effect-next country to hit?

I've said more than a couple of times the last few months that once Muqtada Al Sadr backed off his ceasefire Iraq could turn bad in a heartbeat for that reason alone.

He has a large following in Iraq. Only if we kill him and a lot of his followers will Iraq stand a chance.

Al Sadr is aligned with Ahmadinejad and Iranian radical elements. They're right next door.

We've aremed everyone there to the teeth. We cannot count on them not being turned on us.

The goalpost of both Iraq success and what we're expected to view as a 'success' in W and Cheney's eyes keeps moving forward. 4000 deaths will seem like a few as time goes on IF we stay there. A Trillion dollars (plus the hundreds of billions we're paying on interest for that money) will seem cheap like the $50 Billion figure touted pre-invasion as our maximum outlay. 5 years will be half the figure in 10.

When do we stop? When we hit $3 Trillion dollars? When we hit 10,000 deaths and another 30,000 severely wounded?

What is truly amazing is that this sorry fuck of a President Dick Cheney and his nitwit side-kick GW Bush keep feeding the American people this complete line of bullshit that..."If we don't fight the terrorists over in Iraq...they will follow us home and attack us here"

Isn't Vietnam enough of example for these two Jack-asses?
We killed somewhere around 1,000,000 Viet Cong during the war which we ultimately lost and they didn't follow us home. All they wanted from us was to get the Fuck out of their country.
