Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Democrats in Michigan and Florida struggled Friday to resolve the impasse over their disputed January primaries, coming up with a plan to hold a June primary in Michigan while remaining deadlocked in Florida. Reflecting how tense the situation has become, influential fund-raisers for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton have stepped up their behind-the-scenes pressure on national party leaders to resolve the matter, with some even threatening to withhold their donations to the Democratic National Committee unless it seats the delegates from the two states or holds new primaries there.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you. It would appear from this article that Howard Dean and the Dem party face some interesting times ahead.

I honestly thought this story would have been of more interest here. Whether your a TONYROMANIAN or a CORKETTE, when big dollar donors become disillusioned that presents troubles on multiple levels. Am I wrong?

They don't need their money...oh wait yes they do.

Well, it seems the Dems aren't above trying to buy a President. Or at least a presidential nomination.

When Hillary! can't win just change the rules.

Well, I'll just my ball and go home!!!

Humph!!

I'll just take my ball and go home!!!

Don't correct my grammar or I'll get my dad to take his money back too!!

How much did Drudge retort owner give to Obama in Florida?:>)

Let the donors go. The DNC should not be influenced by a few with deep pockets that want to rig the election. With all the irregularities regarding this democratic primary season it must appear to others like we are becoming a banana republic. How can the US then go overseas and "monitor" elections for fairness when we are guilty of doing the same things? I might also add that all the irregularities seem to involve Hillary and her campaign. Obama has proved that the deep pockets are out there and will come forward despite a few that want to warp the process. Pelosi needs to step in make sure the right thing is done.

Oh yeah Rez??? when that donor is Warren Buffett, THEY LISTEN!!!!!

This Blog Site once again is showing its anti-Clinton slant. Who really believes that the Obama Campaign is not on a daily basis contacting the DNC or all of the Super Delegates...Grow up, be fair.....

I think the unreported story which has come out of this meeting is that Hillary's big donors put the KABOOSH on all the negative slime-throwing at Barack Obama.

Lo and behold, on today's Sunday gabfests, each and every Clinton supporter joined with each and every Obama surrogate in distancing themselves and each campaign from both Ferraro and Rev. Wright. Even on Fox News, Chris Wal-ASS kept trying to goad both Hillary supporter Sen. Schumer and Obama supporter Sen. Dodd into taking sides over Rev. Wright and both stuck to the line that the campaign is about issues, not what surrogates say absent of their preferred nominees.

I must say, I give Sen. Schumer (and the Clinton campaign) a great deal of credit for his candidness and his unwillingness to dive back into the "guilt-by-association" waters, and Dodd too, for sparing Ferraro anymore senseless piling on.

Its refreshing to see Democrats acting like Democrats instead of Rovian minions trafficing in gutter politics.

Good for the Clinton supporters! Someone should be standing up for Democrats in Florida and Michigan.

Party officials should be mortified that their gamesmanship has led to disenfranchisement of the citizens of 2 entire states. This is not what the Democratic Party is supposed to stand for, and it's long past time for DNC and state party leaders to admit their mistakes and fix them.

Extortion, the dem party way. I am suprised the aclu is not involved, they are te biggest extortionists in the world. jesse jackson and al sharpton ar 2nd and 3rd.

Someone should be standing up for Democrats in Florida and Michigan.

I watched a story on NBC last night about Florida and every person spoken to understood that it was the PARTY who was at fault, and all of them understood that the Florida Democrats broke the rules. They were not mad at either campaign whatsoever for their plight.

As Danni has said as a Florida resident, she didn't go vote because she knew that her vote wouldn't count as it regards choosing delegates for the convention.

I am all for both Michigan and Florida being given another chance to get it right. But the results of elections that might as well never occured isn't relevant in the least. Thats what the rules each candidate agreed to said.

Hahaha. Perhaps Tony is not familiar with the good-cop-bad-cop routine?

For all we know, Hillary and Ferraro planned it on the mutual understanding she would quit if it backfired. Notice it's always some aid who says these controversial things and not the candidate. Once they create a buzz, the genie is out of the bottle.

They're playing with your head Tony.

I think we agree, but the basis for our agreement is different. IMO, rules that disenfranchise voters do not deserve to be respected -- they should never have been made by the party of Civil Rights, and they should be overturned.

Re-votes are necessary because, as you note, many voters stayed home in the original elections because they were told their votes would not count. This is also disenfranchisement.

Good to see that there is progress on this front.

Ray...

The campaigns are series of news cycles. Everyone knows what's already out there can't be called back, but one can tell when a story is not being pushed any further. I'm speaking about today, not earlier in the week.

C'mon Ray, everyone isn't an idiot and you're not an omniscient sage. Politics is an old game, even older than you. The only difference is the playing fields have changed. There was no internet until recently and there wasn't a 24-hour, worldwide news continuum needing constant feeding and care.

And so it is.

Tony

Mainstream news and opinion is all noise and chatter. In the final analysis, we get idiots for politicians because we have idiots for voters. We could do no worse if the last three contenders were Larry, Curly and Moe.

My advise to you is to reassess yourself and admit to the limitations of what you know. That's the first step towards becoming a realist. Otherwise you'll be going through life hoping for what cannot be.

I know you won't take it.

Hill's corporate fatcat donors are not pleased!

We spent all this money on the "inevitable" candidate and now it looks like we wasted our money!

Not fair! they whine and threaten the DNC to with-hold more of their coin unless the DNC rigs it so that Hillary has a shot at all those delegates who aren't supposed to be seated according to rules the DNC had set out previously.

Well, Spud's corporate
FATCAT has no time fer their shenanigans!

Spud's already sed, either follow yer rules, split the delegates or have a fair re-do.

No other options.

We could do no worse if the last three contenders were Larry, Curly and Moe

Hey you fergot the other THREE!

Be Well.

/Off to watch McLaughlin Group now
//Back later
///stage left.

Right - Spud - go watch those McLaughliners get more worked up about a prostitute and a Governor than they have ever gotten about war or elections.

Sad.

Right - Spud - go watch those McLaughliners get more worked up about a prostitute and a Governor than they have ever gotten about war or elections

Yes, yes Spud is harshly aware of how much American punditry FAILS in it's attempts to fullfill it's mandate but that sed MG is a longtime staple fer Spud.

Eleanor Clift is me favorite.

Spud agreed with her today when she sed that the Spitzer thing was more about legality than morality.

They even touched on the notion of legalising prostitution and drugs. Usually verbotten subjects on US airwaves.

The "High on Sinai" thing was a nice closer.

The Ferraro talk was neat-o too.

Be Well.
