"A British-Iraqi billionaire lent millions of dollars to Barack Obama's fundraiser just weeks before an imprudent land deal that has returned to haunt the presidential contender, an investigation by The Times discloses. The money transfer raises the question of whether funds from Nadhmi Auchi, one of Britain's wealthiest men, helped Mr Obama buy his mock Georgian mansion in Chicago. Mrs Rezko's purchase and sale of the land to Mr Obama raises many unanswered questions." "It is unclear how Mrs Rezko could have afforded the downpayment of $125,000 and a $500,000 mortgage for the original $625,000 purchase of the garden plot at 5050 South Greenwood Ave. In a sworn statement a year later, Mrs Rezko said she got by on a salary of $37,000 and had $35,000 assets. Mr Rezko told a court he had "no income, negative cash flow, no liquid assets, no unencumbered assets [and] is significantly in arrears on many of his obligations." www.timesonline.co.uk

Gee, a chain of "evidence" with no evidence and none of the "links" actually linked up. Will wonders never cease? DJV, as Big John says.

Something tells me that if Rezco was going to sing, he would have done it to help himself by now.

Wonder what the video of Obama going to the Court in Chicago to testify as a character witness, or to explain how is not a "strawman", for Rezko will be worth, lol.

how he
www.suntimes.com During his 12 years in politics, Sen. Barack Obama has received nearly three times more campaign cash from indicted businessman Tony Rezko and his associates than he has publicly acknowledged, the Chicago Sun-Times has found. Obama has collected at least $168,308 from Rezko and his circle. Obama also has taken in an unknown amount of money from people who attended fund-raising events hosted by Rezko since the mid-1990s. Obama has collected at least $168,308 from Rezko and his circle. Obama also has taken in an unknown amount of money from people who attended fund-raising events hosted by Rezko since the mid-1990s. But seven months ago, Obama told the Sun-Times his "best estimate" was that Rezko raised "between $50,000 and $60,000" during Obama's political career.

At least we know the GOP won't be all over this Iraqi criminal connection, lol! It is best for Dems just to ignore it all and give the nomination to Obama.

"Wonder what the video of Obama going to the Court in Chicago to testify as a character witness, or to explain how is not a "strawman", for Rezko will be worth, lol." Especially if the Clintonistas rework it to make him look really, really, really dark. Does Hillary's "experience" include work on the Marc Rich pardon? Oh, no, cut that one. She's already said that her "experience" and deep personal involvement in White House affairs (of the non-physical variety) does not include Marc Rich. Maybe it was Bill who answered the red phone on that one. LOL.

What? Doc with Deflection in lieu of retort? Say it ain't so! Are you saying Obama is a typical politician?

"Are you saying Obama is a typical politician?" No, I'm saying you haven't got much of a story here. Hey, what's that I hear? Is the red phone ringing?

Mathematically speaking, Hillary cannot win the nomination without destroying the party. I doubt even MI and FL will be enough if she get revotes. Her phyrric victory will have to be accomplished via super delegates. And the voters will just love that.

Neither of them can win without SDs, who will likely be faced with BHO with a small lead in pledged dels and HRC with the popular vote and a demonstrated ability to win the big battleground states. So then they can decide. But that's another thread. This one is about Obama's best bud Rezko who is Auchi's best bud, who apparently gave the money to help buy Obama's house. Possibly Iraqi "Oil for Food" program money that he stole. But at least you aren't concerned with even the appearance of impropriety that the GOP is already planning on bashing Obama with IF he is the nominee. I do so like confidence.

Does Clinton really want to bring up the issue of land deals and of former fundraisers who have been convicted? Okay.

She won't have to if the press doesn't close their eyes again. But keep looking at the horse race and ignore the potential problems this represents for a potential Dem nominee, if you like.

"who apparently gave the money to help buy Obama's house." Really? Then you should have no problem explaining how you arrived at this determination. When you do, I'm sure Clinton campaign will finally want to talk with you and at long last get your valuable input. "aren't concerned with even the appearance of impropriety" Here are some terms you might want to review: "Income tax returns" and "Clinton Library donor list."

-Then you should have no problem explaining how you arrived at this determination. Sure. Reading. It's fun-damental. You should try it. Not as fun as your constant deflection instead of retort, but fun anyway.

Yeah, I sure can't wait to hear about Whitewater, Hsu (sp?) and selling sleepovers in the Lincoln bedroom, etc.

What has all that got to do with this story other than as a deflection?
Posted by Corky at 2008-03-06 04:23 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
Corky, I'm just giving you a preview of what we can expect to hear if Hillary wins the nomination.

Oh, I thought maybe you were commenting on the topic of the thread. My mistake. Your preview is all old news everyone has heard before..... you know, kinda like a re-run on TV instead of a whole new season of fresh red meat stories for the GOP to feast upon. I would hope even Obamites would want to know how much of this story is true.

Let's see. Corky wrote: "This one is about Obama's best bud Rezko who is Auchi's best bud, who apparently gave the money to help buy Obama's house. Possibly Iraqi "Oil for Food" program money that he stole." "Really?" I asked. "Then you should have no problem explaining how you arrived at this determination." To which Corky yaps, "Sure. Reading. It's fun-damental. You should try it." It certainly isn't in your article and there's no reference at all to Auchi or the "Oil for Food" program. In other words, as per usual, Corky, you're just flinging shit against the wall and seeing what sticks. Maybe you'll feel better when Clinton releases her tax returns and someone succeeds in prying loose the Clinton Library donor list. Oh, and do yourself a favor: Next time you start yammering on about the Ethics in Government Act and impying that it required Hillary to provide her income tax return, do some reading. It's fundamental. You should try it so you can be a better amanuensis and don't come across as poorly informed. (In case you forgot, it's over at www.drudge.com)

The Republicans will go with whatever meat they can find on whoever the nominee is in November. Red meat, dead meat. Doesn't matter. If you think we aren't going to hear about blue dresses and cigars if Hillary is the nominee, you are living in la-la land.

Corky, Didn't you post this same garbage under a different header about two days ago. And just like today, couldn't even get the support of the resident Obama haters because they see that it lacks any substance whatsoever? I don't know if you take requests but I'd love to see you post a "Here's why Hillary should be president" thread. Or maybe since you'd be the only poster on the thread you could just tell me right here on this one. Why should this Democrat vote for Hillary Clinton?

Giuliani: 911, 911, 911, 911, 911, 911 Corky: Rezko, Rezko, Rezko, Rezko, Rezko Even the most staunch Obama supporters here have oft stated that they don't believe Senator Obama is perfect. He's a product of Cook County rough and tumble Illinois politics and I guarantee he's perfectly capable of giving as good as he gets and has both the associations and battle scars to prove it. Now we have all heard constant yammering about how Obama isn't "tough enough"; "needs vetting" ad nauseum. But isn't it bemusing that the folk who apparently have a visceral dislike of him are now accusing him of having been "associated" with mean, nasty people (too politically experienced maybe?) Obama has never said he's perfect; he's tried to run a clean campaign and tried to elevate politics a little. That hasn't worked because the surrogates, electorate and media don't want a civilized campaign--they want blood sport. This isn't about vetting, it's about vendetta. Fair enough. Now the Clinton campaign has begun to whine because the searchlight is being moved back onto the long, long journey of the Clintons' shady finances and criminal associations. Ancient history/not relevant? Well, we're all a product of our histories, isn't that the point of the Rezko smokescreen? So suck it up. Even if everything Corky tries to imply in his multi-packaged Rezko/Nafta posts is proven, Obama on his worst day is cleaner than the Clintons will ever be.
