I am tuning in only to watch the prelim coverage...I want to see how many repulsicans wear the "I'm A BUSH Republican" button given to them this past week with the request that they wear them at the SOTU speech. How many repulsican enablers in Congress will be willing to label themselves? Should be interesting. Frankly, many Dems should be wearing those buttons, too.

High school kids still cant read or write, let alone do math. Oil prices have doubles in 7 years with no end in sight and no plan in place. Jobs and investment continue to flow overseas or dry up completely. The worst performing industries have the largest political influence, making accountability impossible. Corporate welfare has finally fully replaced and dwarfed the social kind. The value of our currency is in free fall, while inflation rises faster than the fed can artificially control it. Millions face foreclosure due to years of no meaningful oversight into lending practices. We still don't inspect our imports, and our border security is a joke. Ordinary travelers get screwed at the airports, while the guys making $10/hour to load planes get unfettered access through the back doors. Earmark spending is at an all time high. Government offices are stacked with the incompetent and undeserving while the real work is done by contractors for twice the normal cost and with zero accountability. Educational lenders are screwing over kids with our blessing (tax breaks and no oversight). Health care costs are so out of control as to put our quality of care behind most socialist nations. Social Security is still an untouched ticking time bomb. Our national parks have seen more exploitation and underfunding than any point in our history. We have had record deficits for the last several years straight despite raising the debt ceiling as a solution. We've reinstated torture abroad, and pissed all over the 4th Amendment domestically. We STILL haven't caught Bin Laden, and the Pakistan-Afghan border now more than ever provides the perfect safe-haven for extremists.

BUT, my friends, as you all know the crown jewel of my administration has been the war in Iraq. Well, I'm happy to report to you all that we are succeeding in our mission to make militant Iraqi's more hesitant to blow stuff up. Although the Iraqi government still refuses to do the bare minimum politically (the whole purpose for our security), and they want us gone from their streets and only used when they call for it...despite the fact that there are more al qaeda operatives in Iraq now than ever before, and despite the fact that we're now arming the same sunni groups we marginalized before (when has that ever come back to haunt us), and most of all despite the fact that Iraqi oil production is still low and many of our private contractors are ripping us off and having to still spend more than 50% on security...

Despite all of this...we are winning, because our own casualties are slightly down...the ultimate benchmark for success. Mission Accomplished!

I can now leave office with my head held high. Thank you America for voting for me...twice. Well, maybe only once...suckers.

No worries. Just yanking your chain a bit. I actually spent a good 20 minutes thinking of all that. After immediately becoming depressed, it actually got me to thinking...why in the world can't democrats just pull it together for once? They used to say in regards to the primaries: democrats fall in love and Republicans fall in line. The past few elections, democrats have tried to fall in line, and its just not working. I really think Americans who are not blindly partisan (the vast majority) are ready to fall in love. Even if he gets nothing done, if he can just act like a leader for a while, competently and passionately talk on the world stage, and make people feel like Washington is more than just petty partisanship for its own sake...then we might just be able to pull our collective heads out of our asses as a society and get back to innovating and selling ideas like we've done so many times before.

I have a relative who called to tell me they were just laid off too after about 12 years on the job. Had worked in customer service for a company that sold high end bath products -- tubs, sinks, etc. -- and after the housing slowdown all related companies are going down too. This person was a real pro-Bushie before. Now they hear that Bush wants to cut back the time for unemployment benefits, etc. etc. and are getting a HARD REALITY CHECK as they see the REAL George W. Bush.

Bush has outsourced every decent job overseas and the few decent jobs still here in the U.S. are not available to Americans anymore because Bush and his fellow corporate thugs have brought in foreigners at 1/3 the wages to work here in our own country using H1-B visas. Corporate profit at obscene levels rules this government. Bush has said FU to all American workers.

Now Bush wants the NAU and will open our borders to ALL of Mexico, Central and South America. Give our country another 10 years and the U.S. will look the same as those third world countires do now.

When Bush and the globalists finally push thru their NAU agenda we will no longer be U.S. citizens -- just "economic units" to be transferred at will for maximum corporate profit.

I believe he mentioned on here once that that industry is hiring now. Goat works as an electrical technician on an oil rig. Maybe he might know of a website you could look at to see if there were any mechincal engineering jobs available in the oil ndustry? It wouldn't hurt to ask. The more you can network and get out info you're looking for work the better. Do you have an up to date resume? If not you should get one set up and be ready to go in case something shows up for you to apply for a job.

Very different than I thought. I have not been a Bush fan lately, BUT I thought it was a strong S.O.U. speech and surprised me at points.
