Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Everyone assumes that the most important New Hampshire primary development was the comeback of Sen. Hillary Clinton and the blow to the juggernaut of Sen. Barack Obama. Those developments were undeniably momentous, but in the long run, a case could be made that the Republican result -- the victory by Sen. John McCain, which not only brought his campaign back from the dead but also installed him as the race?s nominal frontrunner -- may end up having a bigger impact on the Democrats? chances of retaking the White House in 2008.

I would hardly think so. He looks like he gonna die in office from old age alone.

Obama's biggest competition would be Ron Paul. That or some evangelical.

Regard,s
etc.

And yet the Republican party is still coming out in drives for Huckabee and Romney, and Rudy/Thompson are still alive.

The Republicans are starting to feel the thin edge of their own wedge issues coming back to them.

McCain's a formidable candidate. But, he's very short on money right now - same scenario as 2000. I imagine that without W as the 'establishment' candidate McCain will have little trouble raising a substantial amount of money.

I'd say Huckabee would be more of a worry than McCain, who'll have to run against portrayed as Bush on Steroids, only older and sicker. Mccain't also been in the Senate how long? hardly a candidate who can sll change.
Huck appears more mainstream socially and a "Washington outsider", if he keeps silent on his talibaptist beliefs.
Like I saids before, and SC showed, if McCain't the GOPper candidate, illegal immigration won't be touched.
And the Dems won't tip-toe around the war like the GOPpers.

It's called seizing the middle, and Bill Clinton was the master of it. At a similar stage in the 1992 race, Clinton was similarly beating Bush in toss up states, even though at that time he was low on cash and far from the presumptive nominee, having barely survived the Flowers and Pot disclosures.

Don't count McCain out, and if he is nominated, will be far more palatable to the moderates of both parties then Hillary, Obama, Rudy or Romney.

And the Dems won't tip-toe around the war like the GOPpers.

As shown by their resolve to stop funding the war and pull the troops out of Iraq, like they promised before the '06 election?

Don't hold your breath.

Die in office? He won't make it through the summer.

ROC: Will they do it? Let's hope so. But that message will sell better than Mccain's "never met a muslim nation I didn't want to bomb bomb bomb " campaign promise.
I still think his age and decrepidness are going to do him in. Even Hillary will be still younger when she finishes two terms than John is now.

129 isn't too old.....

How old is his wife, and who has the Botox concession?

2/3rds of america wants to end the war in iraq, yet mccain thinks a 100 year war is just fine.
sorry, my friends, that dog wont hunt, my friends.

John McCain was blatantly racist in the SC debate, read it here:
McCain's disgraceful racism during SC debate
Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that "there's not a dime's worth of difference between" Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like America Deceived (book) from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.

I would have to agree with the article.

McCain is the biggest threat to the dems.

He may pull a lot of independents his way.

Obama's biggest competition would be Ron Paul.

I know you are dreaming here. Obama's biggest threat is Hillary, and she will more than likely win (not because she is loved by the masses)

Interesting piece, but think that his age is his biggest liability... 6mo of straight campaigning is extremely taxing, and all he needs is an incident like Dole in '96 where he fell off the stage and he's done. I voted for McCain in the primary in '00, but that was 8 years ago, and he's 8 years older, and has had 8 years to go from a maverick to a tried-and-true establishment candidate. Remember him bucking the republican trend with the McCain Feingold bill? How about when he said that it would be his daughters choice as to whether to get an abortion if she had gotten pregnant?

What's he done lately? He's followed Bush in lockstep, and has gone out of his way to pander to the same special interest groups that he turned off in '00. He's turned off middle-of-the-road voters, including me. Thumbs down.

If McCain is the toughest foe, that must mean smooth sailing for Hillary all the way.

Only Ron Paul can beat Hillary

Not really. John McCain is very well liked as a person. If it were McCain vs Obama, I think McCain would win. McCain vs Hillary would be too close to call right now.

Let's not forget McCain fathered a black child out of wedlock. According to the Bush Administration.

Halo...back in the "debates" for the 2000 nomination cycle, I was sitting with my father (who votes a straight [R] ticket) watching when GW Handjob nonchalantly threw that little "black baby" bon mot in McCain's face. I lost all respect for the man when he made no real effort to stand up for his daughter in light of what was said. He just sat there and let Bush punk him. My father is of the opinion that McCain still carries around the psychological scars of being held prisoner for so long and is incapable of coming up with the correct response in a timely manner when it comes to making critical decisions. I don't understand why the man didn't launch himself across the table and punch the tar out of that smirking dry drunk right there, live on national TV. That would be a man I'd vote for, and I'm an uber-democrat.

Barrack McCain

Only Ron Paul can beat Hillary

Hillary could die today (God forbid) and still draw more votes next November than Paul.

No chance in Hell 100 years in Iraq McCain has a snow balls chance in hell of winning.
If you want Hillary as your next president, Don't vote for Ron Paul.
The system is corrupt. They are already stealing votes. If Ron Paul doesn't take a sweeping margin of votes they will steal the election by swinging enough vote to swing the elect to Hillary.
People need to wake up to the fact the system is corrupt and the war corporations that support war also build the computers that you are voting on.
Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, and Mike Gravel are the only corporate outsiders. All of the others are corporate puppets.

NG3,
Why don't you speak up for Obama having his votes stolen in NH?
You would rather have Hillary than free elections.
