Osama bin Laden called on insurgent groups in Iraq to unify in an audio recording aired by Al Jazeera television on Monday. "Some of you have been lax in one duty, which is to unite your ranks," bin Laden purportedly said in the audiotape. "Beware of division ... The Muslim world is waiting for you to gather under one banner."

'"Beware of division ... The Muslim world is waiting for you to gather under one banner."'

Gee, I wonder which banner that would be?

Yeah, Yeah, Fake, Pretty soon the U.S. will announce they captured or killed the number 2 guy again.

Didn't Bush Say He Was Going To Get This Guy 6 Years Ago ?

Oops...... Bush Doesn't Give A Fuck About They Guy Who Ordered The Killing Of 3,000 Americans Anymore.

The goes Al Jazeera again, acting like the White House and distributing AQ propaganda. When will they learn that only Karl Rove gets to do AQ PR. They were saving this to distract from the next Blackwater massacre.

How convenient. Bush was on tv this morning in a press conference yapping about wanting more BILLIONS for his war and saying that Congress better do it and fast before they leave for the holidays.

Bush kept repeating that ALL those billions he's asking for were for the troops and their protection -- strongly implying that if Congress didn't AGAIN alot more billions (which are really for him and his corrupt gang of warprofiteers to outright steal in phony no bid, cost-plus reconstruction projects in Iraq )-- then Congress and the American people must (((drumroll))) care nothing about our troops welfare.

ICING ON THE CAKE to Bush's request this morning for more BILLIONS? He made sure another little video from bin Ladin popped up at the exact same time -- just to throw in the terror card for emphasis to his "give me more billions for my war" request today.

The timing of the "new" bin Ladin video to go along with Bush's televised request this morning for more billions for his war in Iraq couldn't have been more obvious -- or more phony.

Yeah, Yeah, Fake, Pretty soon the U.S. will announce they captured or killed the number 2 guy again.

Yeah, how many al-Qaeda No. 2 guys have we killed now? 7432?

correction to my 5:30 p.m. post

...alot more billions

should have been spelled "allot:

"Yeah, how many al-Qaeda No. 2 guys have we killed now? 7432?"

Could be. That's about how many number twos that have been defeated in the college football poll, isn't it?

while I dont agree with the number two bullshit..
hey is that another bathroom joke?

but seriously though.....I have to sort of agree with some of our liberal bros.......(GULP!!!!!!!)

we should have done more to get him and its still not too late.

and we have said on each and every occasion of getting to #two.....there will be another to replace him, ....so does that mean that we should stop looking for and killing #two when they 'graduate'?????????????

Well When You Are #2 You Try Harder !!

-Sarge

Most of these fighters are not from other countries and they're fighting, literally, for a few city blocks to call their own. I'm hardly condoning it, just pointing out what many in the military are saying.

This is why I don't think most of them will unite. They don't give a flying fuck about OBL, they want avenue A, B & C to themselves.

Some of you have been lax

Which means in Al-qaeda speak, "Some of you have been killed and have failed in your duty to slaughter innocent men, women and children"

The Muslim world is waiting for you to gather under one banner.

hmmm will it be the:

Peace Sign banner? nope.

Gay Pride flag? not likely since their are no gays in Islam.

Israeli Flag? No way, there is no room for a "star of David" when the Muslims play "Rock, paper, Crescent"

UN flag? powder blue is really not their color.

How about this for a flag:

Hands down, this is the single dumbest retort I have EVER read here at the DR.

Hey Lou - you forgot to accuse Sarge of being phony. You're losing what little game you had, little lady.

I will continue to accuse Bush of wanting his billions for his war for warprofiteering purposes UNTIL he gives Congress an accounting of where these billions are going. Bush so far REFUSES to do so.

Congress wanted the accounting and put that demand in an emergency appropriations bill as one of the conditions Bush must meet in order to get his billions for his war.

Bush said that if Congress dared to ask for a an accounting for those billions he was being given for his "war on terror" then he would VETO that appropriations bill and -- of course -- tell the American people that Congress would not support the troops.

Congress caved -- again -- terrified of being said to "hate the troops" and instead gave Bush carte blanche for the billions Bush continues to steal in the name of his "war on terror" with no accounting for where or how those billions of our money is being spent.

This is why I don't think most of them will unite. They don't give a flying fuck about OBL, they want avenue A, B & C to themselves.

So you're saying they're kinda like the crips or that new mexican gang, eh?

When do we pull out and let the LA homos fend for themselves?

Commonsense - that's just because you weren't there to witness Louise's self-destruction when she accused Sarge of being a phony. Even 101 tried to set her straight, but she ranted on and on. It was pathetic, but amusing at the same time.

Bowa

Just how much value do you think you added to this discussion with the above?

Only because phony soldiers are your heros.

"New mexican gang"? You mean MS-13?

Hey look Monte, I made you happy ;^)

Step right up. I pull the strings, and Louise dances.

Yeah that's the one.

When do we pull out?

You are pretty good at following orders, I will give you that Louise. Your boyfriend appreciates it as well. And you do have those soft lips, can't fault you for that.

They're not Mexican, Louise.

Just how much value do you think you added to this discussion with the above? Just wondering what you were thinking - a scary thought given what you've written.

perfect, I wasn't thinking about adding any value to a conversation on a thread which had already degraded into accusations that the bin-laden tape was planted by the Bush administration to give him political leverage with Congress. How much "value" can be added to such a conversation. It's pointless.

So instead I was just riffing off the idea of al-qaeda bringing all the Islamo-fascists under a single banner and wondering what it would look like.

And the cartoon that caused the riots throughout the world seemed a good place to start.

You're right Monte. And no Al Queada are Arabs either.

When do we pull out? It's lost.... The police are just creating more ms-13's.

I didn't know the see eye aye had a banner.

'Osama bin Laden called on insurgent groups in Iraq to unify'

Damn, that would be sweet. If they all gather in one location it will be easier to kill them.

Mon Oct 22, 2007 1:01pm EDT

"BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Violence in Iraq has dropped by 70 percent since the end of June, when U.S. forces completed their build-up of 30,000 extra troops to stabilize the war-torn country, the Interior Ministry said on Monday."

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

Bush never said that.

What he said was, "Terror is bigger than one person. And he's just -- he's a person who's now been marginalized. His network, his host government has been destroyed. He's the ultimate parasite who found weakness, exploited it, and met his match. He is -- as I mentioned in my speech, I do mention the fact that this is a fellow who is willing to commit youngsters to their death and he, himself, tries to hide -- if, in fact, he's hiding at all.

So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you. I'm more worried about making sure that our soldiers are well-supplied; that the strategy is clear; that the coalition is strong; that when we find enemy bunched up like we did in Shahikot Mountains, that the military has all the support it needs to go in and do the job, which they did. GZ,

Of course it is, but to get Bush to do something is the issue.

-Sarge

You Feel Better Now BOWA ?

Of course, at least now you know the quote you posted is a lie.

Bush never said this sentence ""I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02"

And since we both posted the same link as the source document -- now everyone can see that your posted quote is not true.

So thanks Sarge. it's not too often that any Lefty here admits they were wrong. So yes, I do feel better. Thanks.

The President: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.

Who exactly is lying, Bowa?

Bush never said this sentence

You're right. He said this:

www.youtube.com

"Bush never said this sentence"

So let me get this straight: from now on, you'll only use the exact words people used? Does that mean no more Obama: Kindergarden Condoms?

Since Bowa finds it impossible to find that President Bush has lied, it's not surprising that he is so "pedantic".

My question above, "Who exactly is lying?"

The answer, of course, is Bush. He was making it up as he goes along, trying to score some point against a journalist. He is a fool and a coward, and a liar.

Bowa: "I sure would like to suck George Bush's dick." 10/21/07

Witness: "Yesterday, Bowa said "I want to give Bush a blowjob.""

Bowa: "Witness is such a liar! I never said those words! Liar, liar, pants on fire!"

Who exactly is lying, Bowa?

Sitdown,

This is truthful quote:
"The President: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him." - - G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

And this is a lie, Bush never said it:
"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

well, that was easy.

Does that mean no more Obama: Kindergarden Condoms?

Nope. But it does mean you'll never see Obama: "Kindergarden Condoms" unless of course he actually uses the phrase.

I do my very best not to misquote anyone. And If I do misquote someone, I wouldn't be as stupid as some people here are and try to defend an obvious misquote. It would be much easier and more respectable to just say, "yeah, Bush never said those words, but he did say this..."

Instead people are babies and instead they try to deflect -- it's just stupid.

How does Bush go from wanting justice for bin Laden:

"I want justice. There's an old poster out west, as I recall, that said, "Wanted: Dead or Alive."

- and -

"I just remember, all I'm doing is remembering when I was a kid I remember that they used to put out there in the old west, a wanted poster. It said: "Wanted, Dead or Alive." All I want and America wants him brought to justice. That's what we want."
To this, just six months later:
"So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you...I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him."
Bush goes from ""I want justice" to "I truly am not that concerned about him."???

Which is the "truthful quote"?

Meanwhile:
"I attacked America on 9/11 and all I got was away with it." - Osama bin Laden
Hans

well, that was easy.

So putting all the bullshit aside, you will not deny that Bush went from being gung ho about bin Laden to being "not concerned" 6 months later, yes?

Why don't you criticize him for that?

simple,NESS.. Bowa has a totally selective memory and a totally prejudiced view of every single "mis-statement" this administration has made. I don't know why we bother to reply, but its in the nature of this blogging thing, so we do.

Bush doesn't actually know what he thinks of Bin laden (even after five years) because his point is to try to behave as if he knows what he is doing. He doesn't, as has been proven over and over again these last long five years. But he still has the kind of supporters like Bowa who will not only cheer him on, but suggest on the "sacred"(?) Dead Thread that our soldiers are dying for a good cause, when they fucking are not. They are dying and being maimed for Bush/Cheney hubris and NOTHING else.

This needs to be said, whether there are 3 or 50 million people aware of it.

Some of you have been lax

Perhaps he's noticed that extremism is it's own worst enemy.

Kinda odd, eh?

Be Well

when Bush said "..wanted dead or alive", I actually believed him. It never occurred to me that he didn't mean it. I admit I was fooled, but never again! the term that applies to Bush is "lying sack of s____", now that's the truth!

IF OH BEE EL is not even wanted for anything why are they going to war to find him?

Kind of ignorant I would think.

Oh, Wait, they aren't trying to find him.

He just hjas to make a tape once a year.

Nice cush job.

They Guy Who Ordered The Killing Of 3,000 Americans Anymore.

-Shill

Um, he never ordered anything he said so.
and the FBI don't want him for ordering anything
who says he orderd anything?
prove it.

UBL -- hoping for a comeback. What will he do when the Bush Cheney neocons are out of office? (They're the ones who gave him a shot at fame, and their the ones who gave him a pass by figuratively blaming everything he did and said on Saddam. Now the Bush Cheney team are blaming every danger in the world on Iran. Thanks to the neocons for putting the last things first!)

Why doesn't W just ask his friends the Sauds where UBL is? The Sauds know exactly where the money goes when it gets donated to UBL's favorite imams in SA. Unfortunately, by claiming a blind eye, and looking the other way, the Sauds can claim they know nothing. In the meantime, as our partners in GWOT, SA gets more US money and weapons than any other country. (Another great Bush/Cheney/neocon/Halliburton arrangement?)

The fact that Osama Bin Laden still laughs at the United STates, makes videos and can still threaten terrorist attacks on the United States must be laid at the feet of the Commander Guy. Failure is his legacy. His supporters can't admit the truth but to all others it is obvious. Supporting George W. Bush in unpatriotic.

Right, we all KNOW that Islam is what we want it to be. Here is a link to another instructive article together with an excerpt from the article.

You "lovers of peace" project your world views onto others, and then pretend that your model of the world is valid and that the actions of others are circumscribed, subject to the limitations that you want to impose on others.

Excerpt:

Like it or not, these terrorist campaigns were inspired by the example of the Prophet's struggle--his "just war"--against the Quraysh, the pagan tribesmen of Mecca. In the context of the original conflict between the early Muslims and the Meccans, the sources, including the Koran and the narratives of Muhammad's life, suggest that:

"fighting is an appropriate means by which Muslims should seek to secure the right to order life according to divine directives."

In militant readings of the Sharia, the historical precedents are not so much interpreted as applied. For ultra-radicals such as bin Laden's deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri there is, as Kelsay observes, "little room for a sustained process of discerning divine guidance" along the lines enjoined by traditional scholars.

An even more striking absence is evident in the criticisms of militant readings advanced by official Islamic authorities, including the widely respected Sheikh al-Azhar, head of the mosque-university in Cairo and once the single most important voice in Sunni Islam. While questioning the methods of the militants on grounds of practical ethics--will the "actions taken in the service of justice yield more harm than good?"--their criticisms usually fall short of challenging them on the grounds of political legitimacy. Conservative Muslim critics of militancy ...

They differ only as to what mighty be the most effective methodology (strategy and tactics), and not goal and result, which is converting all people to live as Muslims or subjugate them and have them live as dhimmis under sharia. Ho hum.

Johnson -- Great article! Thanks for the link.

What they missed was commentary on one of the most influential "western philosphers" of the faith. Track down the bio of Averroes (1126-1198).

Ibn Roschid, or Averroes, as he was called by the Latins, was educated in his native city, Cordova, where his father and grandfather played important roles in the political history of Andalusia. Under the Calif Jusuf and then Jusuf's son, Al Mansur, Averroes enjoyed extraordinary favor. Later he fell into disfavor when a fundamentalist North African movement came to dominate the region's theology. Although before his death the edict against philosophers was recalled, by that time most of Averroes's works had been burned. His surviving work been translated into Latin before his death.

His life's example is a history lesson in the challenges Islam faces at developing a scholastic tradition based upon logic and ideas that could life the religion from harsh conformity.

The positive factors to consider here are that philosophical and scientific traditions have taken root within the confines of theocracies indicating a yearning for secularism. While our pluralistic society's secularism is demonized by the likes of UBL, the reality is that the majority of UBL's would-be audience would prefer to read the writings of Averroes if they could rather than the rantings of UBL and his ilk.

Correction -- the next to last paragraph should say -- "the challenges ...developing a scholastic tradition based upon logic and ideas that could LIFT the religion from harsh conformity."

Gee, I wonder if there are Muslims on the other side of the world reading the words of some fundamentalist Christian preacher who is saying virtually the same thing. Seems virtually all religions teach their exclusivity in representing the word of God and that spreading of that word is doing God's work. How many Christian nations were converted by force???

"Seems virtually all religions teach their exclusivity in representing the word of God and that spreading of that word is doing God's work."

Not ALL religions, but many do. However, I only know of ONE which issues fatwas, declares jihads, does contract killings, puts bombs on children, stones women, beheads people....well, you get the idea.

"Gee, I wonder if there are Muslims on the other side of the world reading the words of some fundamentalist Christian preacher who is saying virtually the same thing."

How many Christian preachers advocate violence and what percent of the Christian world follows them? 1% maybe. If we can link a Christian preacher to a crime, what do we do with him? Lock him up. Does our government have to worry about the guy's huge following causing trouble? No, we lock up all 10 of his followers with him. Then all the Christians express their relief and life moves on.

Compare that to the millions of people who follow extremist Islamic clerics. Governments are either ruled by these lunatics or afraid to act against them too openly.

You have to be a complete tard not to see the difference in magnitude here.

Hey Sarge - you sound like a real strapper...I was in the Marine Corps and I agree with all of the guys you are telling to shut up and enlist...you're about as well-informed and thoughtout as our President...heck, with you and like-minded others, we could start a country or at least a garage band and go and kick the crap out of others...tuff guy, eh?

Gee, I wonder which banner that would be?

"Mission Accomplished"

"What came first Bush's request for more money OR the Bin Laden tape?"

ever notice how OBL's statements ALWAYS coinencide with a WH announcement?

"If a terrorist fell in the woods, would it harm a Bush?"

""I only know of ONE which issues fatwas""

And I only know of one that conducts "crusades."
And don't forget Dumbya almost labeled the Iraq invasion as a "crusade."

"And I only know of one that conducts "crusades.""

You have the wrong "tense," Danni. It should have been "conducted," not conducts. Do you REALLY find it necessary to go back so many centuries to compare Christianity to Islam? Do me a favor, find me some examples where present day Christians are OFFICIALLY condoning stoning of women, beheading of civilian captives, suicide bombing of innocents, among the other acts of love endorsed by the religion of peace.

What a shame! As the recent Newsweek article 'The Ongoing Hunt For Osama Bin Laden' laid out, the CIA had him in their sites complete with a box for his head, but Rumsfeld and Co. wouldn't give approval to the CIA teams desperate calls for an OK to kill him.

Guess they needed their boogieman as usual.

From September 3, 2007 issue of Newsweek:

THE ONGOING HUNT FOR OSAMA BIN LADEN

Why they chose to let the man behind Al Qaeda - who killed over 3000 of our citizens on 9/11 and still wish to kill more - get away is beyond understanding.

Latest OBL tape: newsroom computer system sound in background?

This suggests that whoever is speaking on the tape - be it Osama or whoever else - was recorded in a newsroom of some kind, where such software is used, unless what we are hearing was being recorded off a speaker in a room that also had incoming wire services (i.e. Al Jazeera) - which is also a possibility, I guess, but it does very much sound to me like the speaker is in the same room. It would be interesting to try and find out from Al Jazeera whether this is the original recording, or a re-recording of it off a speaker in their newsroom. If it's a re-recording, why wouldn't they want to offer the original recording up for public scrutiny? If it's the original, I wonder who else AVID (the maker of the INEWS software) sells their software to in the Middle East?
