He's appealing?

Only to Vernon.

In a restroom. Air conditioned of course.

Should read:

Larry Craig appalling...or a' peelin'.

It just keeps getting better.

Thank you Senator SCUMBAG!

You are a credit to your political party!

Larry Craig...the gift to Democrats that keeps...on...giving!

"Larry Craig Appealing"

Only tap dancers would find Craig appealing.

Sub heading on the article:

Mitch McConnell suffers minor injuries from banging head against wall repeatedly.

Was he tortured into confessing? Was he shipped off to Gitmo? Waterboarded until he confessed?
Was he beaten, tasered? Treated harshly or unfairly in anyway?

The guilty plea wasn't forcibly extracted, Sen. Craig wasn't subjected to any enhanced interogation techniques.

Sorry, Craig, you pled guilty of your own free will, that makes you guilty. Just accept it and move on with your life.

Larry Craig....the gift that keeps on giving!!

At least the rethugs can be thankful that being know as the Gay Old Perverts is a hell of a lot more appealing than the real thing: the Party of Hate.

I think Bush has to get in the next stall and have a word with Craig.

If Larry Craig doesn't go away Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham are going to beat him to death with their purses.

Would Craig receive his pension if he resigned ?

YOMELIB

Would Craig receive his pension if he resigned?

From Los Angeles Times:
QUESTION:

So, if Craig resigns, as expected, how much pension and benefits will he get for the rest of his life after his lengthy tenure in Congress?

ANSWER:

By law, members of Congress are paid $165,200 a year. They must serve at least five years to qualify for a pension.

All members pay 1.3% of their salary into a pension fund and 6.2% into Social Security. Members are not eligible for any pension until they reach age 50 and then only after 20 years of service. Members are eligible at any age after 25 years of service or reaching age 62.

The amount of their pension varies by years of service and the average salary earned in their three highest paid years. No one can receive a pension of more than 80% of their salary.

According to the Congressional Research Service, as of last fall 413 former members were receiving pensions under two different programs with average pensions between $35,952 and $60,972.

Would Craig receive his pension if he resigned?

Craig is 62 years old so the answer is yes, he can receive a pension according to the stats I listed above.

Thanks CC !

Members of the military forfeit their rights to a pension if they are found guilty of flagrant violations of the UCMJ, even if they have already reached the requisite number of service years. Why should members of Congress be treated any differently?

Unbiased--

The congress writes the rules they are to follow--no one else. Do you really think they would write ethics rules that take away their benefits if they do something wrong?? Hardly...

Even Duke Cunningham is going to get his benefits--Hell he might even be receiving them now while he is in prison--he's old enough.

Next he will appeal to the Supreme Court. The only way for him to dodge the Ethics Committee of the Senate, lead by Boxer--is to keep the appeals going to the end of his term.

You know he's still fighting his plea deal--how can we do anything?!

If you want Boxer to do something--send her an email....

Murphy

Why should members of Congress be treated any differently?

Cos all men are created equally.

Some are just more equal than others.

See: Golden Rule#1

Whoever has the gold makes the rules.

Be Well.

Larry Craig could say that he wasn't abusing or tarnishing the honor of his Senatorial office or betraying his constituents by his "anonymous" gay flirting in an airport restroom! Although he definitely couldn't make that claim if his actions took place in the Oval Office!

But seeing that Bill Clinton repeatedly committed far worse abuses and tarnishment of the honor of his Presidential Office plus the betrayl of all of the voters who put him into power, why shouldn't Sen.Craig now use Bill Clinton as his "moral" role model in deciding not to resign?

The logic is clear: Clinton easily rinsed off and slipped out of his scandals and is still the media darling,so why shouldn't Sen.Craig,in a far minor political office, who did nothing nearly so grevious as Bill Clinton, now not enjoy the same blanket amnesty and immunity?

Clear? Sure clear as mud.

First off, Clinton did not get off scott free.

He was the subject off a massive and unprecedented witch hunt that started with the BS of Whitewater and eventually led to a blue dress.

In all of that Spud found the actions of the GOPhers to be far more represhensible than anything that Bill actually did.

Secondly, you wanna compare an attempt at anonymous extra marital sex in a public washroom to a consensual blow job in a private workspace?

Seriously? Neither of them are winning any awards fer their behaviours but clearly Craig is the more self destructive, anti-social and loathesome of the two.

And that's w/o even factoring the hypocisy factor into the equation.

"nothing nearly so grievous"

Both men were wrong but if you want to talk degrees of creepiness Craig wins the competion hands down (and feet wide apart).

Be Well.

Only tap dancers would find Craig appealing.

Do you want to compare the acceptability of extra marital sex with someone that works for you with something barney would do with a stranger?
