The glass ceiling is tougher in Iowa where they have never elected a woman to the US legislator, much less voted for a woman for President.

Plus, Edwards got the Union endorsement.

Hog Union, one supposes.

consider how many more comments at this site on the ron paul article than the hillary one. yet she's the focus, as if she's already won something.

very disconcerting.

If Hilliary Clinton is finally elected then how can any Americans declare they're not getting just exactly what they deserve!

Hillary up by 21% in NH? So what!?

SAM

"So what!?

Well, it could mean that New Hampshire doesn't want a naive, inexperienced, Pollyanna named Barak Hussien Obama to be the nominee.

Just a guess, of course.

"that New Hampshire doesn't want" and won't vote for a black man as president ?

ANGEL

Why would you say that?

This is great news. I hope she gets the nomination. Her high negatives will bring down the Democratic party.

Plus, what does this say about the male candidates of the Democratic party when their leader is a woman? Many men, Democrats and Republicans alike, will never elect a woman to do a man's job. So, go ahead and nominate her. Even if she wins, her one term will be enough for everyone to realize her socialistic ideas for America were a giant step backwards, and the Democrats will be on the outside looking in for many years to come.

LOL You have completely overlooked the disastrous, yet male and corporatist terms of one GW Bush and there effects on voters.

Right Zap. Do you remember that slogan from a few years ago, "it's the economy, stupid"? Well, if that slogan is correct, then the people will be voting with their wallets. Today's economy is booming. So now what are you going to come up with? I know. Let's vote to put a Democrat in the White House and end this period of economic growth by raising taxes. That will work wonders, eh?

Some people just don't pay attention......

Many Republicans have said that they are eager to run a general-election campaign against Hillary Clinton, describing her as a highly polarizing candidate who would unite and energize the opposition.

But, as of now, Clinton appears to be no more polarizing than other leading Democratic contenders. Nor is there a potential Republican nominee who appears significantly less polarizing.

Forty-one percent of those surveyed said they definitely would not vote for Clinton in the general election if she were the Democratic nominee, one of the lowest "reject rates" among the leading candidates in either of the two major parties. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) registers the lowest definite opposition, at 39 percent."

"Americans currently view the top four Republican candidates in equally or even more negative terms. Forty-four percent said they definitely would not vote for Giuliani, while 45 percent said the same of Sen. John McCain (Ariz.). More than half of all Americans said they definitely would not vote for former senator Fred D. Thompson of Tennessee (54 percent) or former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (57 percent).

On the other side of the ledger, more Americans, three in 10, said they definitely would support Clinton rather than any of the other leading candidates of either party. In contrast, 17 percent said they definitely would support Giuliani.

With such high levels of disaffection, next year's presidential campaign will combine efforts to energize hard-core Republicans and Democrats with appeals to independent voters, who heavily favored Democrats in the 2006 midterm elections.

At this point, a hypothetical matchup between Clinton and Giuliani shows the senator leading the former mayor 51 percent to 43 percent. When the Post-ABC News poll last tested the two against each other, in January, the race was a tossup, with Clinton at 49 percent and Giuliani at 47 percent.

In the new poll, among those following the campaign very closely, Clinton enjoys a sizable lead -- 58 percent to 40 percent."

A Mason-Dixon poll released yesterday in Nevada shows Hillary Clinton way ahead in the Democratic caucus, but also losing the state in a general election.

Hillary leads the Dem field with 39%, followed by Barack obama at 21%, John Edwards with 9%, and Bill Richardson at 8%. On the Republican side, Rudy Giuliani has 28%, Fred Thompson 23%, Mitt Romney 17%, and John McCain 9%.

In general election heats, Rudy beats Hillary 51%-44%, Thompson wins 50%-44%, and Romney leads 49%-43%.

Just what the Republicans want eh, Corky?

Nevada is a prime example of most states, lmao!!!

Most states aren't quite that red, Tony. They are the exception, not the rule.

Besides, you have been telling me for weeks how little these polls mean...... unless of course they favor Repubs or Obama.

How do you know whether Hillary is the right choice or not?

Try this test.

Hillary or Bill Clinton for president.
Disregard the legal issue behind Bill on this.

Just consider the two.
Imagine you are campaigning for Bill.
What mud do you sling at Hillary?
What does Hillary lack?

Those answers are the issues the opponents are considering.

It'll be interesting to see Obama and Ron Paul as Independents. This could be the first election with a lot of GOOD independents.
