Simon Jenkins: The chief threat to world security at present lies in the capacity of tiny groups of political Islamists to goad the West into a rolling military retaliation. Extremists on each side feed off the others' frenzied scenarios so as to garner money and political support for their respective armies of the night. I believe in the robustness of the democracies created in the West over the past half-century. I am not sure that our leaders do. Our leaders would suspend the freedoms of democracy at the bang of a bomb.

They are now going to light up the top of the Empire State Building in celebration of Eid -- which marks the end of fasting for Ramadan.

I will now get pummeled by the kumbaya, polically-correct mob on here but -- I DON'T LIKE IT. We are fast becomming too Muslimized (such a word?) for a nation founded on Christian/Judeo beliefs.

Not only that, but they are going to use the color green to celebrate the Muslim holiday. GREEN BELONGS TO THE IRISH. St. Patrick's Day is celebrated with green lights on the Empire State Bldg. Let the Muslims get a different color. In fact, why is NYC celebrating ANY Muslim holiday?

The chief threat to world security at present lies in the capacity of tiny groups of political Islamists to goad the West into a rolling military retaliation.

No, The chief threat to world security at present lies in the capacity of tiny groups of ruthless Islamist terrorists to control the Western Media and make them believe that they are invincible and "islamo-facism" can never be defeated so it is hopeless to even try.

Actually the greatest threat is in having Christian leaders getting the public accepting of religion being a State function. School prayer, 10 Commandments at courthouses, etc.

Then, when we're conditioned to being told what to believe by the State, our politicians can be bribed into converting to Islam, and thus America converts to Islam.

That's the way it works.

Here in Chicago there's been a big stink in the suburb of Buffalo Grove, because a student asked that "God bless America" not be played at Homecomming.
The community is now outraged, but they shouldn't be.

But down in a south suburb, Ramadan is now an official school holiday. Well I guarantee you that Buffalo Grove won't be having any muslim shit in their schools.

I don't know about you, but I'll gladly give up hearing "God Bless America" in a public school to keep Ramadan out as well.

Oh and Bowa, nobody is claiming that "Islamo-facism" is invincible.

What we are saying is that we're fighting it the wrong way. We're not going to be able to make the Mid East love us. It's a fools erand and a waste of time.

If we'd spent the last 6 years focused solely on killing Al-Queda rather than nation building Iraq, there'd be a lot less Islamo-facism in the world.

When Iraq becomes an islamic-facist Sharia law nation ruled be religious nuts, you'll finally realize Bush's failure.

Islamo-facism isn't defeated by giving freedom to the facists.

Actually the greatest threat is in having Christian leaders getting the public accepting of religion being a State function. School prayer, 10 Commandments at courthouses, etc.

What a crock.

How did the Constitution survive the "McGuffey reader" in the public schools then? Your are confusing your own personal hatred and fear of religion, with state sponsored "official" religions such as the "Church of England". The founders knew that faith, religion and spirituality was part of the fabric of most Americans lives, and they never sought to jsut get rid of them entirely from the public square as people like you seek to do.

Thankfully, recent decisions by the Courts on religious freedom have brought some sanity back to the topic -- and when the republican is elected in 2008, this trend should continue -- Thank God!!!

since when is this a Christian Nation?

who has the right to dub it so?

if you cannot practice your superstitious affection- be it christian, islam, or voodoo- without making it everyones business that you are doing so, you are being just as rude as the asshole down the street who forces me to listen to pop country all weekend.

while ill never advocate bombing my neighbors stereo, he should fucking know better. just like those of you who would have me live under your christian ideals.

What a crock.

Go tell that to all the parents in a south suburban school that just had Ramadan shoved down their throats.

It wasn't some islamo-facist on the other side of the planet that did that.

It was someone who couldn't stomach not having God in public schools, so now there's Ramadan as well.

And all the kids will be taught how peacefull and loving Islam is. Isn't that great Bowa? Becuase Christians can't handle the public square being secular, now the Islamo-facists get to indoctrinate children.

Thankfully, recent decisions by the Courts on religious freedom have brought some sanity back to the topic -- and when the republican is elected in 2008, this trend should continue -- Thank God!!!

I have to agree with Norm. If the christians in the United States want to constantly squawk about religion needing to be in the public square and in government, all the while pretending to be all for religious freedom, they open up the public square and government to the very thing they think they are stopping. Namely other religions, specifically islam.

The chief threat to world security at present lies in the capacity of tiny groups of ruthless Islamist terrorists to control the Western Media

Oh, please, somebody, please, help me back up again. Bowa, you've outdone yourself. I'm laughing so hard I fell off my perch.

""and when the republican is elected in 2008, this trend should continue -- Thank God!!!""

Yeah Bowa, that's gonna happen.
I hope Bill gets another BJ in the WH just to piss off the Rethugs. Monica is going to be jealous. Her fifteen minutes was over a long time ago but it seems old Bill continues to make the ladies swoon. My bet is Rudy would take Monica's place willingly if Bill would let her.

Shapes of things to come ?

From a typical article on a related subject in todays UK Daily Mail titles :

"Priest gets a visit from 'hate crime' police for expressing his views on Muslim veil affair"

www.dailymail.co.uk

"Its a very sad fact in the UK , that political correctness has gone overboard, one cannot comment or say anything, I repeat anything about Muslims- why?
Why is the subject so sacrosanct? If they wish to live in this secular land of Christians they should NOT get any special or kid glove treatment. They were NEVER invited to come here in the first place, if they don't like it they could LEAVE, which would be the best thing that could happen to the UK. No Muslims not problems. The Police should have better things to do like stopping rampant street crime without pussyfooting sucking up to Muslims.

- Faqi, London, UK"

"This confirms that any "perceived attack" on Islam is dealt with differently from any "perceived attack" BY Islamists. Call for the death of the Prime Minister and British people in the name of Islam and nothing will happen - but protest against those calls for death and get arrested. Why does this government's policy so favour one religion, including allowed it to set up headquarters for Islamist groups which are banned in other European countries. Welcome to the police state where having a personal opinion is a thought crime.

- Maggie, Somewhere in England"

"I work in a large call centre in Leeds 11 at the weekends. Last Saturday a Muslim co-worker came out with the extraordinary and deeply offensive comment that "Jews were taking over the world". I subsequently reported this to manager - result no action.
These things only work one way.

- Joe, Leeds Yorks"

"well, I for one think alien cultures in the UK which do not integrate are not to be tolerated

- John, Cheshire

"This reminds me of articles I have read about the Stalin era when brother was reporting brother to the secret police, we cannot express an opinion now in the UK!

- Mary, kuwait"

"Whatever happened to freedom of speech or does this not apply to Christians?

- Alicia (Ex Pat), Dallas,USA"

"When in Rome do as Rome does comes to mind. If people don't want to live by our laws and traditions, then don't come in the first place, or move away. It is as simple as that.

- Barbara Carter, Ipswich"

"This sort of thing is happening even though the new law making it an offence to upset a Muslim was thrown out. Now we have the government wanting to make it an offence to upset a homosexual. Once the jails are full of Christians I guess the government will be able to claim that crimes are being solved and punished.

- Liz Ward, Huddersfield UK"

"What do you expect in this multi cultural country where anyone can wander in with little or no check on them whatsoever. How do the police manage to send a riot squad to a pub because a man is smoking, or two to quiz a priest over alleged racism? Because of political correctness, which is easier and safer to police, crime is worse in this country than ever. How many police do we see on the streets of our towns and cities nowadays? How many Middle Eastern countries could I visit and try to preach Christianity without being stoned to death? I always thought that anyone coming to this country, as a visitor or to live here, would be subject to our laws but obviously I thought wrong.

Name: Sandy

Location: Lac LaBelle Cemetery, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin

Message: A few weeks ago my daughter took me through the famous Lac La Belle cemetery. I live close by but had never seen it. We were fascinated by the dates of the headstones. Then we came upon 3 stones that looked like they had just been buried. That's what we thought till I got out of the car to read the headstones. they were from the 1800's. I felt a shiver go through me as if someone had just passed through me. Then a terrible sadness hit me and stayed with me for about 2 weeks. With the sadness always came 3 faces in my mind like they wanted me to find something for them. I'm scared to go back there. I still feel like they want me to help them.

Name: Pia, Mary and Catherine

Location: Framingham State College, Massachusetts

Reported: October 10, 2007

Message: We are three students who live at/attend Framingham State College.

Here is something to add to your Peirce Hall archives: a young, female ghost paces the ground floor and is very sad and worried. Her presence is most felt at night, near the kitchen. She won't enter a room with a closed door, but she waits for invitations. She will come in if the door is open, or if the room is a common area. She becomes excited when her presence is mentioned, and she becomes agitated at the mention of the old tunnels that lie under the buildings.

Name: Randi

Date of Event: October 10, 2007 8:30 pm

Location of Event: State Road 44 between Eustis and Sorrento, Florida

Message: On October 10, me and my mom were on our way home from church on State Road 44 between Eustis and Sorrento, FL a little after 8:30 pm.

We were out in the middle of nowhere, but coming up on a brightly lit intersection and a lit up neighborhood Sorrento Springs. I was in the backseat of our Suburban on the right, staring out the window.

Me and my mom saw it at the same time. No lie. It was hovering over the roofs of some of the homes in the middle of the neighborhood. I thought it was a new light pole they had installed-because I drive by there so many times and I've seen it in the dark before. It was taller than all of the other light poles so it couldn't be one. The light on it was just a single big one. It was bright shining and orange and I swear it was somehow flickering.

At first we thought it could be a helicopter searching for some hit and run person because we have had a few lately. The light looked like it was infrared and the object just sat there in the air, shining the light down. And then suddenly it zipped up higher and at a different angle the orange light dimmed and turned bright white. It really creeped us out because we were going pretty fast along the highway and the figure (UFO) stayed parallel to our car for a good minute or two.

It didn't leave our sight for a few minutes. We saw it move higher up and light was still white. It was very hard to spot when we went back into the dark countryside again. The last time we saw it, it veered to the right towards Sanford/Orlando. We know it wasn't a plane or a helicopter. Are those able to hover QUIETLY about 3 feet over rooftops or 8-10 feet off the ground without a sound?

I am forever changed and I would appreciate if you would email us and tell us what we should do now. We are freaked out.

YIKES!!!!!!!

It's ignorance like this above poster displays that's a danger to our country. Blind sheep that won't see reality for reality.

The Empire State building is lit up in celebration of ramadan.

I wonder how many liberal sheep even understand its significance. Not many, I'm sure.

In their pursuit of political correctness they are blindly choosing to surrender to an evil they choose not to acknowledge, much less comprehend.

"The Battle of Badr of March 17, 624, is one of the few military conflicts specifically mentioned in the Qur'an and holds a great deal of significance in Islam. Eid ul-Fitr, the final portion of Ramadan and which the lighting of the Empire State Building will recognize this weekend, has as its origin the aforementioned battle. Furthermore and most importantly, this battle marked the turning point for Islam, both politically and ideologically."

alwaysonwatch2.blogspot.com

One can only imagine the joy islam is having showing images of an American Building lit for ramadan all over the middle east.

"The Battle of Badr of March 17, 624..."

And your point is, what, exactly?

Ramadan is the name of a month. The Battle of Badr took place during that month. Part of Ramadan is devoted to observing the initial revelation of the Koran to Mohammed. The fasting during Ramadan is not connected to the Battle of Badr, but to fasting and prayer. Lots of stuff happened during the month.

Care to link "Christmas" to "Herod, first-born, dead"? I can't wait to see what can be done with other holidays.

How did the Constitution survive the "McGuffey reader" in the public schools then?

Same way it did until Little Rock and the whole separate but equal crock.

when the republican is elected in 2008, this trend should continue -- Thank God!!!

BOWA- no longer "Rudy"? Now it's "the republican"?

What happened? Bernie Kerik's upcoming indictment for tax fraud from all the jobs Rudy sent his way, including training the new Baghdad Police Force, where he did a spectacular job, I hear, and see from the news.

The list of Rudy's "mistakes" is now longer than his made up list of achievments.

My post had nothing to do with political correctness. I don't want the Empire State Building lit up with the colors of the islam any more than you do. My point was, that if christians are going to try to force their horseshit down everyone else's throat, then they should expect the same treatment from other religious idiots.

The first amemdment claims 'freedom of religon' not 'freedom from religon'. It proclaims that there will not be a 'state sponsored' religon.

I guess some of you kind people should read the first admendment to see what it realy says. While you are at it, read all 10 of them. They are short so you should be able to focus your attention that long.
