I wonder if he died from a single open handed slap... or maybe sleep deprevation... oh wait maybe it was because the room temperature was set to 63 degrees.

Because that's what torture is...

When Did Bush Plan A Trip To Burma?

Maybe we should liberate them. How much oil do they have?

Bush would bomb them for a bucket of oil.

Rob, maybe it was being hung by his arms till he suffocated, or having electric wires on his balls, or just being beaten to death-cause that's how we torture too.

And then we could get into the torture we pay other countries like evil old Syria or Egypt to do for us....

They have OIL, send Bush & Cheney.

ahhhhhhh

I was going to say the same thing..should have known that someone else would be on it......

they might have dripped a little water on his face too you know..........

or maybe they just made him listen to hillary talk about socialized medicine and edwards about his two americas and obamas telling us that we are stupid hicks for wearing flag pin lapels......
in other words, maybe the last dem debate was played over and over and he just slit his own throat.....

or they put him in the same room with larry.......

An opposition leader fighting oppression dies of torture and the righties mock it.

Very good.

Spreading dumbocracy I see.

"Because that's what torture is..."

You need to get up to speed with your masters' diktats. "Torture" is what Bush/Cheney says it is. According to the kakistocracy, we don't torture. Therefore, nothing we do is "torture."

"I was going to say the same thing.."

Well, of course you were.

Tragedy in Burma and righties use it to justify torture by our country too stupid to realize that it is a slippery slope. Ever notice that when you are going from point A to point C you have to pass by point B on the way??? We are at point B and you lunatics want to give them the power to go to B+ with no oversight. If anything Burma is a perfect example of why torture should never be considered by a free nation. But then, I doubt the righties really want a free nation. Frightened children yearning for a Daddy to make them safe aren't capable of accepting the risks associated with freedom.

Just exposing the idiocy of the left my friend. I don't hear the libs crying that we need to intervene? I guess unless you're a lib yourself or an illegal alien you really don't care about anyone else, do you?

Rob, Wis, and BL2 are the ones who would scream in agony at the slightest bit of discomfort.

UFM82 that is a pretty stupid comment considering Bush has "broken" the military and we don't have troops to intervene even if we wanted to.
Clue: don't bring up the inability of our military to respond to other emergencies due to Dumbya's Incredible Adventure because it makes you righties look like idiots.

UF

I don't hear anyone on the right crying about the totalitarian regime in Burma and that they are killing their own people ala the justification for Iraq.

All I hear is yuk yuks made about someone being tortured to death.

There are plenty of nations in the world that need to improve their human rights and how they treat their citizens....

Burma
China
Saudi Arabia
UAE
Iran
Pakistan
India
Saipan

How many of those nations do you want to ivade?

How about just not letting them participate in our economy?

Ooooohhh but where will we get our lead paint poisoned products from?

Where will we get dictators to hold hands and stroll through the bluebells with?

Where will we get to outsource our jobs next?

When you are looking for idiots, you need look no further than the righties.

""How many of those nations do you want to ivade?""

Hell, we don't even need to talk of invading, how about just economic sanctions instead of most favored nation status. But we couldn't jeopardize the profits of American corporations making billions on Chinese slave labor could we???

I wonder if he got 3 hots and a cot? How about a prayer rug and some time to pray each day?

How long was this guy in Gitmo before us evil americans did this to him?

Is truthhurts on a website counting the number of dead and touching himself while scrolling?

I might be wrong, but it seems you've had this fixation on touching yourself while online the last few days.

Keep it up.

is this a picture of the guy?

Mayanmar torture bad.
US torture good.

We may believe our torture techniques are less draconian but the rest of the world probably isn't quite so sure. I doubt that most people around the world seperates nations according to which torture techniques they admit to using. Probably most people around the world figure if you admit to using certain techniques to torture people then probably (especially with a super secretive dishonest administration) the reality of the techniques used is far worse.

MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Thet Oo says his military interrogators in Myanmar kicked him in the head until he blacked out, shackled his polio-ridden legs, and then threw him in a tiny, dark cell where he spent much of the next 12 years.

"They treat people like animals," said the 46-year-old, one of dozens of former political prisoners who have fled across the border to Thailand.

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, comprised of around 100 former inmates, has already put out one report on torture in Myanmar. It described homosexual rape, electric shocks to the genitals, partial suffocation by water, burning of flesh with hot wax, and being made to stand for hours in tubs of urine and feces.

He says his interrogators stripped him naked and tied him with a leather belt to a seesaw, placing him head down for four hours and pouring water in his face as he fell in and out of consciousness. Another time they put a bag over his head and kicked away his crutch.

He was brought to an interrogation center, beaten with guns, and then thrown into a dark cell for a month with two other men and no bathroom.

"There was excrement all over the floor," he said.

please compare these actions to what america does.

www.telegraph.co.uk

One stress position used to torture victims it describes is "the aeroplane", whereby prisoners balance on one foot holding out their arms and other leg.

Another is "the motorcycle", where they must balance on the balls of their feet, often with pins beneath their feet, while making engine noises.

A third, "the Semigwa dance", is based on a traditional Burmese performance but involves crawling over gravel on knees and elbows.

Women are not exempt and have been threatened with rape. One female prisoner quoted in the report said: "The officer slapped me a number of times and other officers punched me on the back.

"The second time was worse. At first they didn't say anything, they just tied me up, kicked and hit me. For 11 days I was not allowed to sleep.

"An iron bar was rolled along my shin until the skin ripped - it really hurt."

""please compare these actions to what america does.""

You mean what America admits it does. How about prisoners renditioned to other countries???
Do you know what happened to them???
No, you don't.
Pretend what you want but allowing torture is the slipperiest of slopes. Only people who do not understand our Constitution would even consider such evil ideas.
Gee, I wonder what Jefferson would have to say about rendition???

where is sean penn, martin sheen, susan surandan, where the hell are all of the peace niks, the rallies in the streets of san fran, LA and all the other peace love and photo op centers of the land?

Apparently some folks think that exposing how evil the torturers are from Burma makes our torturers look like good guys.
Remember that term the right used to like so much: "moral relativism."

Idiot.

But then, I doubt the righties really want a free nation. Frightened children yearning for a Daddy to make them safe aren't capable of accepting the risks associated with freedom.

you mean like not having your property taken to build a walmart, or the silence doctrine, or seperation of church and state unless it is islamic pacification, or forcing me to pay for everyone that doesnt want to pay for their own healthcare, or raising taxes to pay for minnesota's brides, or.......

actually danni I was pointing out how similar many of the tactics described are to the publicly acknowledged procedures we perform.

stress positions
waterboarding
feces
sleep deprivation

Burma Opposition Leader Tortured to Death

I don't understand what all of the fuss is about, I mean, who really needs fingernails anyway...

Idiot.

oohh they signed a letter, where is sean penn refers to his willingness to be a human shield for saddam....like i said, a letter ooh that takes time and effort, i can accomplish that in mere moments, so is that the extent of these heavyweight celebs interest in burma?

oh,idiot, takes one to know one

maybe if the UN had teeth?

imagine that? wow!!!

something tells me you could write a letter but buying and applying a stamp might be beyond your capabilities.

""oohh they signed a letter""

...and you did what????

Idiot.

We're not mocking him or his sacrafice dickbag, we're mocking how you silly fucktard liberals shit yourselves because terrorists are forced to stay up past their bedtime.

You cry and moan because someone gets slapped when in real dictatorships, there is real torture going on.

real torture

yet ironically many of the techniques used by myanmar sound very similar to what we publically acknowledge doing.

I don't know what he did either, but even if he sat on the couch with his thumb up his ass it did the same amount of good as signing a letter.

Yeah... Like I said in my first post, he probably died from being kept up past 1130.

We're such Nazis!

Its just a hunch, but I'm gonna guess Win Shwe if given the choice between having to stay up later than usual and being beaten to death he probably would have still gone with being beaten to death.

Because not getting 8 hours of sleep is just so horrible, so torturous, so evil and wrong, the survivors of it would envy the dead!

www.salon.com

yep america doesnt do that.

And what happened to those guards at Abu Ghraib truthy? They were prosecuted right?

I'm sure its just a matter of time before the Myanmar Junta turns themselves in for prosecution.

And what happened to those guards at Abu Ghraib truthy? ...more importantly...what happened to the civillian contractors who told them to do what they did, what happend to Rummy who authorized torture, what happened to Gonzalez who wrote memos claiming it was all legal, what happened to the president who allowed it.....nothing. The world hears George Bush's pleas for the Burmese people and thinks "the pot calling the kettle black."

Where's is Congress?

Where are the requests for hearings? Even if you think that the Congress will kill the bill, where are the attempts to even bring it to the surface? Where is the Congressional oversight attempt?

Just wondering but do any of you who like to accuse the U.S. of torture have any actual evidence of your accusations? Just because Hans or Sarge say so is not evidence.

" any actual evidence "

blog.deltos.com

www.salon.com

There is some truth to this. That asshole is dead. Other than that I would doubt that it was done at Abu. The plastic that is covering his smelly ass has arobic writting on it. Call me crazy but I doubt that we are getting plastic from the middle east to use for covering dead bad guys in Cuba.

First off, the whole Myanmar issue is a real crime against humanity, one that should elicit some real int'l support, not just fucking sanctions.

Having said that, and focusing on torture, we enter the area or "moral grounds"...remember kids? The u.s. used to have it, now shit like:

"""First lady Laura Bush told USA Today in an interview published on Wednesday that the United States would announce further sanctions on Myanmar's military government "within the next couple of days" if the junta does not take steps toward democracy."""

just rings hollow, like the pot calling the kettle black.

The junta does it to preserve their power over their people, the u.s. does it in order to keep stealing resources that aren't theirs. As they say in Thailand: same same but different.

Just as I thought, three liberal rags and some speculation that they are calling evidence. I hate to break it to you guys but your so called evidence does not exist. If it did, I guarantee you that this liberal congress would be moving to impeach. Aint gonna happen.

On another note, I dont doubt that it is happening, but in this country you in innocent until proven guilty. Or does that only apply to liberals?

Is it just me or is Rob even more deluded than usual?

You support what went on in Abu Ghraib AND you support them throwing the lowest men and women on the totem pole to the dogs while the real criminals walk away. Real patriotic stance you got there bro'.

""Just wondering but do any of you who like to accuse the U.S. of torture have any actual evidence of your accusations? Just because Hans or Sarge say so is not evidence.""

Are you stupid or are you just pretending to not know that any attempt to prove the truth of the accusation is met with "national security" excuses??? Or are you just so partisan that you have actually forfeited the ability to actually demand that our rights under the Constitution matter???

Hell, we don't even need to talk of invading, how about just economic sanctions instead of most favored nation status. But we couldn't jeopardize the profits of American corporations making billions on Chinese slave labor could we???

I wonder who is buying all that stuff those American corporations are selling. Hmm...

Considering their Guantanamo Bay and Abu Grahib prisons and kidnapping renditions etc.,I'm certain Karl Rove,Dick Cheney and Dubya Bush would like to exterminate their opposition in the same manner as their colleagues in Burma - whoever that opposition might be?
(*It sure isn't the Democrats!)
