In California you have to be 21 years old to be a police officer or a deputy sheriff -- whether full or part time. I never heard of having an underage cop.

I could invoke Bush's military record here, but then I'd have to allude to a coke deal gone wrong, which would insult the dead, while comparing them to VC is fine.

Quite the paradox. Though I would not apply the terms "deranged," "mentally ill," or "nutcases" to police officers in general, those in law enforcement do have to have a certain mental predisposition in order to do the job, considering the dregs of society they deal with day in day out. You don't send out a sheep to tackle the wolf: you send another wolf.

It should be noted that in this instance, this particular nutcase was not on duty, but rather acting as a private citizen nutcase.

If this deputy was only allowed to carry one bullet for his gun in is shirt pocket then this wouldn't have happened.

Now, I know those who can't get it up without a handgun will argue that this has nothing to do with our liberal gun laws. But when you have a society swimming in guns and your leaders are pushing guns ... well, what do you expect? Just like in the old west: if you have an argument use a gun to setting it.

Remember that what you don't hear about is the daily accidents and suicides with guns. Women of the US rise up and make your men stop this deadly situation! Tell them that guns may turn them on but they turn you off.

My guess would be the 'one gun a month' or 'max 10 shot clip' would have prevented this one. Maby the 'no 50 cal rifle' would have helped too.

This guy was a straight-up nutjob hiding inside a normal kid. You can run all the tests you want, but there is no way you can avoid this situation from ever happening when filling thousands of positions. I also can't see this as a product of the pressures of being a cop, since he was only 21 freaking years old!

Anyone claiming this has anything to do with gun laws is a moron. If he had a knife, you would have 6 victims who died of stab wounds. Crazy is crazy.
