Wow, when I first read this I was amazed that Bush had used the term "methodology" but then I noticed that it's not part of the actual quote and whatever he said was "cleaned up" by the editor.

"I don't consider it a credible report. What I mean is that its credibility is discredited. They do their countin' in a non-credibilitating fashion. The numbers don't add up to a credible result."

You are way too obsessed with oil. Oil was likely the main reason for invading Iraq, but it was only 1 of about 8 major reasons.

Many Westerners are confused. Buddhist monks don't have the same type of vocation that typifies the Western clergy. People make the transition between "monkhood" and "non-monkhood" merely by donning the robes.

It is probable that many of the dissident monks had undertaken to secure identification as monks as a tool in their political protest. Most of them probably adopted this guise to facilitate their political protest.

Parenthetically, it appears at least for the nonce that the crackdown was successful. Maybe we need to hire these "Myanmar Generals" as consultants to help us establish methods for successful pacification of Iraq. I'd bet that they could handle the job, and quickly. Opposition to our forces would then be quite isolated, quite sporadic, become more of a police responsibility than a conflict. But the U.S. does not want to bite the bullet and accept the reality of what is necssary to implement policies. It seems that we would rather fail than succeed. It's our election.
