Bob Herbert: Last week the Republicans showed once again just how anti-black their party really is. The G.O.P. has spent the last 40 years insulting, disenfranchising and otherwise stomping on the interests of black Americans.

Ron Paul is a Republican. His only connection to the Bush/Cheney GOP is the (R) after his name.

Well, if true the best way to make the GOP come around to the concerns of Black Americans is for 90% of them to continue voting Democrat.

The GOP will definitley change its party stances and the candidates it nominates to get 10% of a voting bloc... They'd be stupid not to!

Bob Herbert brought the racially-based injustice in Tulia, Texas into the daylight from under the rock when the rest of the media was doing its Britney/Paris/Natalee thing or whatever sensationalism or trivia occupied them in those days. So gotta give him props for that. Otherwise his "everything is racism" when minorities are involved schtick does get old. OJ did kill his wife and Ron Goldman. Michael Vick is a scumbag. William Jefferson is corrupt. Ray Nagin is as useless as Bush.

yes cause in this day of 50%+1 victories in elections, one can be dismissive of any minority.

and there is no way that white middle class surbanites would identify perceived unfairness and racism and continue to support republicans.

yep rob you are SOOOOOOOO correct.

see THAT is an example of sarcasm and irony.

The GOP will definitley change its party stances and the candidates it nominates to get 10% of a voting bloc... They'd be stupid not to!

I think the stupidest thing here is GOP presidential candidates avoiding debates before black and Hispanic audiences. If you lack the courage to face a Democratic-leaning audience because you might get asked some tough questions, do you have the stones to be president?

The president is the president of all Americans, not just the ones in his (or her) voting blocs.

Used to be. Even Clinton moved to the middle. Perhaps that's why he enjoyed a 65% approval rating at this point in his presidency and is now respected around the world, whereas Bush governed to the 30% that constitutes his base, and why he is disrespected the world over for governing so narrowly with such tragic results.

yes cause in this day of 50%+1 victories in elections, one can be dismissive of any minority

Didn't President Bush finally go before the NAACP before the last election? Did it change anything? Nope...

If the GOP wants to make inroads with a minority bloc then they'll focus on Hispanics, because at least there they have made some progress.

The only way the GOP will ever get more then 10% of the Black vote is if they have a Black candidate as president or vice president... problem is, there really aren't any viable Black republican candidates right now that would be seen for their merit and not just a way to syphon (sp?) votes.

The president is the president of all Americans, not just the ones in his (or her) voting blocs.

Yeah that would be nice wouldn't it? Except like TruthHurts pointed out with the elections being so close lately can a candidate afford to spend a good amount of time on a bloc that has absolutely no intention of voting for him? Where's the payoff? If that time can be better spent convincing your base to come out in droves, or making inroads with another group more open to change then that is what you're going to do in today's political environment.

The group that is hurt by this is not Republicans... Its Black Americans.

Ray Nagin is as useless as Bush.

I am thoroughly convinced that Ray Nagin is crazy. Rumor has it that he holes himself up in his plush mayorial office for extended periods, won't leave, and barks out crazy order for his underlings. I really think the stress of Katrina flipped some sort of crazy switch in his brain.

The GOP was making strong inroads with Hispanics, but I think the angry rhetoric against illegal immigrants has killed them there for a generation.

Didn't President Bush finally go before the NAACP before the last election? Did it change anything? Nope...

To me, that's like saying a Democrat should never go on Fox News. A lot of libs say this, but I think that Alan Colmes, Harold Ford, and the other lefties who go on Fox News are helping the cause. The people watching that network are not as rabidly right wing as the people on it. You can peel some folks to your side.

BRAVO,BRAVO, BRAVO.....We need more articles like this to educate the American People and there is Millions and Millions of them that were not around fifty years ago who lived thru the civil rights fight in the 50's and 60's.... How any Black American can support the Repubs, is beyond me I was a teen during that period, even then I was disgusted with the Repubs and now at 62 years old dislike them even more, These people will never change they think that America is for them only, yea they give lip service to equality but REDNECK AMERICA still lives, and has found a permenant home in the Republican Party....Fuck you Richard Nixon, Fuck You Ronald Reagan, and Fuck the two Bushs, you all reap what you sow!!!!!!Men like this is why we have a two tier America, Maybe God can forgive them I for one will not!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, that's why the Democratics won't debate on Fox, correct?

"The president is the president of all Americans, not just the ones in his (or her) voting blocs."

Exactly! That's why, when the president is wearing the commander-in-chief hat, all Americans should support a just fight.

Now, you'll try to tell me why this is not as just a fight as was Bosnia/Herzegovina? How about Somalia? Haiti? Two airwars against Iraq?

No, actually I don't think you will ... that isn't the Democratic way, after all, is it?

TH: did rove etal make significant efforts in 2000 and 2004 to get black voters? yes. Did it effect the 2000 and 2004 presidential election results? very likely.

If the GOP wants to make inroads with a minority bloc then they'll focus on Hispanics, because at least there they have made some progress.

TH: they SHOULD focus on all minority blocks. to say nothing of how it appears, that they dont care about minorities. not only will this effect minority voters but those white voters who take these types of things into consideration.

The only way the GOP will ever get more then 10% of the Black vote is if they have a Black candidate as president or vice president... problem is, there really aren't any viable Black republican candidates right now that would be seen for their merit and not just a way to syphon (sp?) votes.

TH: only way? not true, blacks do often support socially conservative policies like gay rights and gay marriage, views on abortion, etc. that is how rove was successful in gaining a few percentage points in 2000 and 2004.

but why let facts get in the way of your spiel.

The GOP was making strong inroads with Hispanics, but I think the angry rhetoric against illegal immigrants has killed them there for a generation

It will be intresting to see the reaction of Hispanics in the next election.

The people watching that network are not as rabidly right wing as the people on it. You can peel some folks to your side.

But can the GOP really expect to make gains in the Black Community in 2008 that are worth the time and the money? Like you said there are moderates watching foxnews that can be peeled away... 90% of voting Black Americans vote Democrat...

I just don't see any way the GOP can expect to peel any of those voters away... I mean unless we were to appoint the first Black secratary of state, and then follow him with the first Black Female Sec. of state, who was the National Security Advisor... I would bet if we did that, it could help... right?

"Didn't President Bush finally go before the NAACP before the last election? Did it change anything? Nope... "

No Rob, it probably didn't change anything, especially after he snubbed them for 5 years running.

Do you actually think any 1 single event like that is going to effect a major change in attitude? Of course not - it would take significant and ongoing engagement by Republicans. And nobody says it would be an easy job. But by continuing to refuse to engage any constituency that is not already friendly, minorities such as blacks and hispanics will continue to feel discounted by the party, and Republicans will continue to appear to be elitist.

that is how rove was successful in gaining a few percentage points in 2000 and 2004.

but why let facts get in the way of your spiel.

Um... didn't the GOP get 10% in both 2000 and 2004, making no real gains...

How about in 2006?

minorities such as blacks and hispanics will continue to feel discounted by the party, and Republicans will continue to appear to be elitist

Repubs have been courting hispanics very hard over the past few years... which is why the whole push against illegal immigrants was so confusing to me.

Along with its divisive nature towards blacks and other segments of America, this is the great "inconvenient truth" about the Bush presidency. All Republicans know it. The rational ones acknowledge it, the RightNuts never do. Not sure that Clinton had 65% approval domestically but am sure it was way over 65% internationally at this point in 1999.

Here a Clinton News Network(RightNut TM) poll from then after they had failed to impeach him for a BJ with Monica:

"When it comes to dealing with the touch choices involved in deciding on the federal budget for next year, whose approach do you prefer: the Republicans in Congress or President Clinton's?

Clinton 55% GOP 38"

Repubs have been courting hispanics very hard over the past few years... which is why the whole push against illegal immigrants was so confusing to me.

it is confusing to you only because you cannot understand the 2 brains of the right.

one is the racist white america first brain

the other is how to exploit cheap labor brain.

"Here a Clinton News Network(RightNut TM) poll from then after they had failed to impeach him for a BJ with Monica:"

Ain't you guys with public school educations EVER gonna get it right? Clinton WAS IMPEACHED by the House of Representatives. The Senate failed to remove him from office. He WAS NOT impeached for the BJ, he was impeached and lost his license to practice law for PERJURY.

perjury about a blowjob

like the civil war was caused by state's rights.

the state's right to keep slaves.

Clinton WAS IMPEACHED by the House of Representatives.

"Impeached" in this context means 'charged'.

In case you missed it, he was found 'Not Guilty'

Impeached in ANY context means Charged because that is precisely what it is. It is an Indictment NOTHING More nothing less.

Larry

What ever happened to JC Watts?

Larry

You can 'impeach' someone's credibility, for instance.

I was laying it out for jestgettingalong in the simplest terms in case he missed the fact Clinton was found 'not guilty'.

:-)

What ever happened to JC Watts?

"Although elected on a pledge to serve no more than two terms, Watts sought and won a fourth term in 2000. In 2002 he decided not to run for re-election, publicly citing a desire to spend more time with his family."

en.wikipedia.org

Too bad... he could have gone far...

we need to convince Denzel Washington to get into politics...

"In case you missed it, he was found 'Not Guilty'"

So was OJ. However, Arkansas said he was guilty and took his license to practice law...right? In any event, I was only responding to BlueInBushland who said he was FAILED to be impeached. Don't get your shorts all wadded up, I was strongly opposed to the movement against him. It gave me nightmares everytime I thought of a president Algore.

JestGettinAlong is one of those RightNuts I was talking about.

All right Jest, if it makes you happy, I'll acknowledge that impeachment in the House is not the same as being found not guilty in the Senate.

I understand that you prefer to nitpick about inconsequential technicalities that, in your eyes, can be shaded to make others look bad rather than face the awful reality of the quagmire that Bush and Cheney have dragged your party into. I'll further acknowledge that Democrats have been guilty of this too in the past. Doesn't work is the bottom line. After a certain point, long since passed by Bush, Cheney and the GOP, nothing does except time in the wilderness. Take plenty of sturdy sandals.

Repubs have been courting hispanics very hard over the past few years... which is why the whole push against illegal immigrants was so confusing to me.

Rob, I've said it before: the attitude of Hispanic VOTERS must not be linked in every way to that of the larger Hispanic public that includes illegal aliens. These groups are more disparate and have different goals than conventional wisdom would suggest. I'd like to get stats but I think that Hispanic VOTERS are probably neutral-to-lukewarm on the whole illegal immigration issue and that this is not the defining factor for gaining their vote. In fact, many of them are strongly opposed to illegal immigration, which is why there is a certain percentage of Minutemen who are Hispanic.

Hispanic VOTERS were either born here or had to do all the legal stuff to become citizens, so they might actually be extra sensitive about the issue of people who come in illegally.

Well, Mr. Herbert seems to want to perpetuate "racism" as an artifact in our society. He wants "different strokes" for colored folks. The GOP has attempted to integrate black people into the society dealing with them as individuals and on the basis of perceived merit.

I may disagree with the perceptions, but then I disagree with perceptions of the merit of whites. But the GOP has selected blacks for posts without attempting to placate race-baiters, who want concessions because they are black.

There was never any suggestion that the District of Columbia be given the right to vote in federal elections. It was a neutral zone, and its inhabitants historically had their present status. It is only when "blacks" moved into the District that it became an issue. The only reason for mounting the campaign is that since there are now so many "blacks" as distinguished from anyone else, in the district then it is an "injustice" to deny blacks representation. But it never has been an injustice to not provide such representation when the district was predominantly white.

Mr. Herbert, what distinguishes the current situation of the District? Why someone migh be led to believe that the reason that a change should be made is because "black folk" now live there.

Get a grip Mr. Herbert. Some of us be tryin' to integrate blacks into the society and have them treated as "people," with no special distinctions. You rail against racism, but seem to want to make it the critical factor with blacks considered as a group rather than individuals.

Do want want being black to be the gateway to special entitlement programs? Black status is to be distinguished from status as citizens. Got it. What particular benefits should be bestowed Mr. Herbert. Start writing that laundry list. Is it "racist" to want and even demand "different strokes for colored folks?"

That's not a bad point MrFair... the 2008 election could be really interesting with their group.

Don't you be 'shamed now Mr. Herbert. There be lotsa folk makin' a living race hustling. Maybe you should get a mail order Reverend certificate, and then you might be able to get in on the "Reverend" race hustle, which seems more lucrative. Let's see, there be the Reverend Jackson, the Reverend Sharpton, and now maybe we can have the last of the trinity, the Reverend Herbert.

Doin' the shakedown shake. So what you be wantin' now Mr., er Reverend, Herbert. Let's have that list of special benefits for blacks.

I think the stupidest thing here is GOP presidential candidates avoiding debates before black and Hispanic audiences

Rcade, just because the GOP won't do a debate that will be broadcast in spanish doesn't mean they are avoiding Hispanic audiences. It is because my party believes that the greatest of all unifiers in our nation with awesome power to bring people together is through our common language and that language is English. Segregation by language is just about the worst of the worst type of segregation that still exists in our nation.

Why the Democrats have so readily embraced segregation with their promotion of the hyphenated America is just about the hardest thing to understand about the party that claims to be tolerant and inclusive.

As for avoiding debates with black audiences, I tend to agree with you.

The GOP has largely given up on Black votes. The reason given by many of my fellow republicans is "If Blacks can't figure out on their own how destructive the policies of the Democrats has been to their community over the past 40 years, then there is nothing we can do about it...why bother even wasting our time"

I disagree with that sentiment. I think the GOP should be doubling and tripling our efforts into the black community to get our message emphasizing family values, self-determination, and education out.

The Republicans have a lot to offer the Black community. A lot more then democrats who have a 40 year record of failed social policies that have torn it apart. We should not give up, even if democrats have and take their most loyal constituency for granted.

Didn't President Bush finally go before the NAACP before the last election? Did it change anything? Nope..

Remind me again how many black GOP House and Senate candidates there were in 2006. Watts spent a long time as the only black GOP Congressman and he was so shunned even Craig wounld't play footsie with him.

the dems really help the African Americans...just ask the Rev. Jackson....he knows all

Just out of curiosity, how are the Democrats Pro-Black? Here in Philly the Black community isn't doing too well, doesn't sound like they're doing too well in my old town of Newark either...

Just curious why 90% of Blacks vote Democratic... Is it because they are doing so much, or is it because they aren't Republicans?

What ever happened to JC Watts?

He shows up every so often on CNN when they need a color commentator to spin some right wing bullshit.

Rob, the GOP plays up its affaction for hispanics only in regard to Cuban drug dealers, er political exiles. Wetbacks, on the other hand, are just cheap labor to them.

Watts spent a long time as the only black GOP Congressman and he was so shunned even Craig wounld't play footsie with him.

Shunned? Why are you lying Northguy?

"Watts was approached by several prominent Oklahoma Republicans and asked to run for a seat on the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. After defeating several other candidates in the state Republican primary, Watts won in November, 1990, and was the first African-American elected to statewide office in Oklahoma.

Four years later, Watts was again approached by prominent Oklahoma Republican leaders and asked to consider running for an open seat for Congress (Oklahoma's 4th Congressional district, being vacated by Congressman Dave McCurdy). Watts agreed and in November, 1994, was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. He garnered attention soon after his election as the first black member of Congress to decline to join the Congressional Black Caucus, saying it was "infested" with "Democratic liberals who betray black people in America."

Watts captured national attention in 1996 with a speech before the Republican national convention, when he said, "You see character does count. For too long we have gotten by in a society that says the only thing right is to get by and the only thing wrong is to get caught. Character is doing what's right when nobody is looking."

Continuing to be a rising star for the national Republican Party, Watts was selected in 1997 to deliver the Republican response to President Bill Clinton's State of the Union Address. Later that year, Watts stirred controversy when he branded some unnamed black Democrats and civil rights leaders as "race-hustling poverty pimps" whose careers he said depend on keeping blacks dependent on the government.

In 1998, Watts was chosen by the Republican House Leadership to be the chairman of the House Republican Conference, the fourth highest position of leadership in the House of Representatives (behind the Speaker, the Majority Leader, and the Majority Whip)."

Just out of curiosity, how are the Democrats Pro-Black?

They aren't Rob.

Consider Watts' take on the issue:

Watts "garnered attention soon after his election as the first black member of Congress to decline to join the Congressional Black Caucus, saying it was "infested" with "Democratic liberals who betray black people in America...Watts stirred controversy when he branded some unnamed black Democrats and civil rights leaders as "race-hustling poverty pimps" whose careers he said depend on keeping blacks dependent on the government."

He shows up every so often on CNN when they need a color commentator

"color commentator" Northguy?

what is this the 1950's south? or are you going to try to hide behind your obvious racist comment because you said "color" instead of "colored".

well hate to break it you my racist-tongued "not a friend", Baseball and other sporting events has "color Commentators", the news shows do not.

"A color Commentator is a member of the broadcasting team for a sporting event who assists the play-by-play announcer by filling in any time when play is not in progress. It is North American terminology. The color commentator provides expert analysis and background information, such as statistics, strategy and injury reports, on the teams and athletes, and occasionally light humor. Color commentators are often people who used to play and/or coach the sport that they broadcast."

from above...

Rcade mentions courage, "I think the stupidest thing here is GOP presidential candidates avoiding debates before black and Hispanic audiences. If you lack the courage to face a Democratic-leaning audience because you might get asked some tough questions, do you have the stones to be president?"

"And, that's why the Democratics won't debate on Fox, correct?..."

There's a big difference...yes, blacks would probably ask some very tough and pointed questions for the ALL white male Republican field, and deservedly so...(btw...I'm white male...and not always proud of it)...

the difference between that and Fox though is huge...Fox has a reputation of deliberately twisting data to fit it's decisively right wing agenda....black people, as represented in a public forum, most assuredly would not...Fox also has a much larger viewing pool, which would make the exchange decidedly unfair, even if the blacks were to take the worst meanings of everything the Republican candidates have to say...which they wouldn't, because unlike Fox, black reporters have two things going for them that, that station does not...CLASS & INTERGRITY.

As to Republicans shooting themselves in the foot,
Yes they are, espec. since whites will be a Minority by the year 2050 by most estimates. That gives you 40 years Republicans to get with the program and drop your Racist ways...lets see...that's only 5 more Presidential Election Cycles...sink or swim baby, sink or swim...

DEMOCRATS VS REPUBLICANS!!!

www.youtube.com

Yes, Herbert wants 'special rights' for Black Americans. Like the right to get elected to Congress.

Out of many thousands of Republicans elected to the House and Senate, how many Blacks have they elected in the past 105 years?

Five.

One commenter above singled out OJ Simpson, Ray Nagin, William Jefferson and Michael Vick. Four celebrity Blacks out of many millions, two elected to nothing and two from a state known for its crooked politics on both sides of the partisan divide. This proves what????

Five Republican Blacks elected popularly to Congress in 105 years proves plenty. Republican voters are the best definition of the party's opinions.

Between World War I and II, they elected more Blacks to national office than Nazi Germany did. They elected one.

Good outreach effort, that.

One commenter above singled out OJ Simpson, Ray Nagin, William Jefferson and Michael Vick.

It was me who singled out OJ etc. I did it in the context of Herbert's tendency to play the race card too readily despite his good work concerning Tulia, Texas. When blacks are obviously guilty, useless or corrupt it makes no more sense to always defend them because of historical factors that don't apply to what they did than to give J.C. Watts, Alan Keyes etc credit for always doing the opposite even when such historical factors do apply.

I agree totally with your view that "Republican voters are the best definition of the party's opinions"(see the 80/20 Republican/Democrat split in Jena, LA) and I'd add that black voters are the best indication of what blacks think of the GOP, not right wing apologists' condescending rationalizations telling them that they don't know what's good for them..

97% of the blacks in America are violent , racists , they hate mexicans and whites , so get a clue moron , try living in a state where blacks get away with their racist shit , try getting a job where there is a black H.R. manager , you fools talk thru your asses , get a clue , smarten up .

I think the stupidest thing here is GOP presidential candidates avoiding debates before black and Hispanic audiences. If you lack the courage to face a Democratic-leaning audience because you might get asked some tough questions, do you have the stones to be president?

The president is the president of all Americans, not just the ones in his (or her) voting blocs.

well I am glad that someone else called you on this one..

so if republicans dont like blacks because they wont debate with tavis, then all of the dems dont like the middle american, family values, old fashioned patriots who watch fox....
OOPS>.....maybe you are right because that is a LARGE segment of the population that dems apparently hate....or at least they think are too stupid to 'get it' or too stupid to make decisions on thier own.,.....SUCH AS HEALTH CARE!!!!!!!!!!

and no matter what they say or do or where they speak or who they debate with.......blacks will still vote in HUGE numbers for dems.......
and blacks talk about black republicans still being on the plantation...(belefonte)
......when its dems who continue to keep blacks "down on the farm"...

again........in general terms.....I know more than a couple of black musicians who are as red neck as I AM.......

"I know more than a couple of black musicians who are as red neck as I AM"

No one is as much of a red neck as you are, dork!

dork????

did you just call me a dork?

well....did you..

okay....you can....but not that larry guy......yuk yuk..

I HAVE A GREAT IDEA FOR THE REPUBLICANS>.

they need to get thier own poverty pimps...if they had a sharpton or jackson who GOT RICH OFF OF OTHERS MISERY, maybe then they could get some votes from the main black population........
it might work......who could be those poverty pimps...wouldnt be j c watts or michael steele...they have too much class for that, but I bet we could find someone....any ideas??????????

and isnt it so typical that these are called on the carpet for not going on pbs when the dems refused to go on fox and they were called courageous...how typical of our liberal 'bros'........

LISA........you wouldnt like it if I called you a bimbo....oops...maybe you would...bimbos get a lot of 'action'............hee hee....

must go and teach a lesson.........have a good night girl....
and for you I would guess that meant a session in front of the tv watching dancing with the stars and then "wrasteling"

later......

Blacks have been going to the Democratic whorehouse too long, directed by the aptly named poverty pimps. I don't necessarily fault the poverty pimps because they're just doing their hustle. I suspect that most of them have a very limited perspective, and most don't realize the harm they are doing to blacks. Nevertheless, they follow the guideline that "God helps those who help themselves," and so long as their hustle provides for them, let the Devil take the hindmost.

That the blacks are so quiescent in being led like lemmings down the disastrous path provided by welfare, "affirmative action," setasides, etc., is unfortunate, and the premise behind special provisions for special entitlements for blacks is that since they are inferior, as a group of inferior people they require special benefits and setasides. They validate the premise by disrespecting themselves.

Blacks act grossly insulted by disrespect shown towards them. But if you don't have any respect for yourselves and will play the minstrel for peanuts, what do you expect. Everyone wants to be better than someone, and this role set out for blacks by poverty pimps, let's whites believe they are superior. The cost is not that great.

So, what about GOP candidates appearing before blacks. They would need to recite the catechism regarding how discrimination has lowered the status of blacks and presents an insuperable obstacle rather than deliver a message of opportunity, optimism, and promise.

And then, they would need to compete with the Democrat candidates in offering additional benefits to blacks, which from a wider perspective is just testimony of the need to provide for blacks because of their natural inferiority.

Since the GOP could not win in such a bidding war (no one can surpass the Democrat Party at distributing other peoples' money), the appearance of GOP candidates is an exercise in futility. They might just have been inclined to indicate that blacks are citizens and that blacks will benefit from the same policies that benefit all Americans, rather than distinguishing blacks as inferior and thus needing and meriting special consideration.

Democrat policies continue to validate such a viewpoint. I know of a totally incapable black man put in an administrative position for which he was not qualified so as to fill a quota, which is a mandatory "goal" regardless of if there is a qualified candidate. The company then had to assign a subordinate to do the work, while the black man drew the money and basked in the glory.

So, you folks think that the GOP should also play the game played by the poverty pimps, and buy black votes through "programs," a sophisticated replacement for political bosses delivering coal, phony jobs, and the like directly. Right on homies. Black votes to who'll pay the most. Momma's drunk; poppa's in jail; sister's on the corner with a political placard yelling "Votes for sale." Is that a step up?

Anti-black? Read this portion of a report on the Norfolk Seven, the "black youths, who beat the white boy.

NORFOLK

In the video, the 13-year-old boy struggled to stay on his feet as several youths punched and pushed him from all sides. When he finally went down, the blows didn't cease; he tried to protect his face and head with his hands. As he pleaded for them to stop, he was kicked in the face.

After the weekend beating in Ocean View, which lasted less than 40 seconds, the boy struggled to his feet, his face bloody.

The youth, Damin O'Rourke, who only recently moved to Norfolk's West Ocean View from North Carolina, was left with bruises and scrapes. Police have identified several assailants juveniles who they said could face misdemeanor assault charges.

Once again, the city is facing questions related to an assault involving several young assailants.

Damin is white; his assailants are black. Still, police said in a news release: "The assault does not appear to be racially motivated ,,,

Yeah. Right. The assault "does not appear to be" racially motivated. Uh huh.

And the black adult spectators cheering the boys on ... What was their motivation?

Good to see ol' whitey goin' down?

I suspect that the disinclination to state the obvious is a demonstration of "white racism." Tell us what it is Mr. Herbert.

Has Mr. Herbert issued any statement on black on white violence? Well, maybe he can advise us that it's justified. I'd like to hear his observation.

Great tape. It makes a black racist proud to view it.That white boy was really clobbered. And they can unashamedly comment on it. Where are the Reverends? Where is the NAACP? Where is the ACLU? First, minimize the assault. Hey, the white boy ain't dead. Then justify the assault. Hey, white boy should know not to walk in a black neighborhood.

Try to figure out how it started. "Hey homey, look, there's a white M_____ F_____. Hey, let's beat his ass. Hey, he may have some money we can take. Yeah. I betcha that I knock him down. Let's go." Yes Mr. Policemen, not racially motivated. Is anyone stupid enough to swallow that BS? There just some innocent youth out for a prank. Beating in concert, a black sport.

Hey, these "good black boys," jsut kids, COULD face misdemeanor assault charges. But wait. Don't they have a license to engage in criminal behavior and assaults? You wouldn't want to ruin their promise, would you you prejudiced white MF.

Let's give them a bye. After all. We don't wanna seem to be prejudiced, and a riot might result, and we're cowards, and don't believe in "the rule of law." We're easily coerced.

TOP SECRET. CONFIDENTIAL MEMO. EYES ONLY.

REPUBLICAN RE-ELECTION STRATEGY:

ALIENATE BLACK VOTE. CHECK.

ALIENATE HISPANIC VOTE. CHECK.

ALIENATE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD VOTERS. CHECK.

MAKE SURE KARL ROVE HAS THE DIEBOLD MACHINES READY. CHECK.

REPUBS WIN AGAIN!

The Lefties on this blog constantly bleat about dirty "Rovian" campaign politics. They all get their panties in a wad over Republicans playing "The Democrats are limp-wristed appeasing wimps" card.

Yet, when the race card is played against Republicans, they cheer.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

The party who've deliberately and systematically disqualified millions of votes of blacks, hispanics and indigenous folk in the last election are STILL as racist as ever?

Quel shock, quel suprize!

Don't tell Spud that they are also still anti-gay and sexist too cos Spud might just die of terminal suprise.

..or sarcasm.

Wotever.

Be Well.

PS: Does John McCain's secret black baby know about all this?

Republicans hate black people unless they are the help. Most Republicans don`t see a problem with referring to them as "niggers". On the other hand, some progressive Republicans agree that slavery is a bad thing.

Please forgive the off-topic post, I smell a tater lingering....

I went to a pre-season hockey game tonight (Wings vs. Rangers). My first thought upon walking into the Joe was, "I am not ready for hockey to start - I am just getting into football."

However, with the drop of the puck and the Wings scoring 28 seconds later - I am SOOOOO ready for hockey. My boys in red had a lotta jump and had were up 4-0 after 2. We left after the 2nd period because my 6-year old has school tomorrow.

The NHL has been struggling with their identity of late. I think they need to relegate Vancouver's team to the farm system and solve all of their problems in the process!

Mr. Herbert, Strom Thurmond's love child begs to differ.

JeffJ

Please forgive the off-topic post, I smell a tater lingering....

yummm, baked and with melted butter and sour cream?

How many of you Republicans out there would agree that lynching niggers is wrong? Be honest. Don`t be embarrassed or feel the need to be PC. And if you agree that lynching is bad, how many of you Republicans believe that blacks are equal in ALL ways (including intellectually, culturally, morally and ethically) with whites?

I think they need to relegate Vancouver's team to the farm system and solve all of their problems in the process!

Of course you realise... THIS means WAR!

My boys in red...

...will have faces to match their shirts after facing the Mighty Mighty Vancouver Canucks!

Like most DRW fans JeffJ is so full of bull it's practically scary.

Red Bull, they say, gives you wings.

Spud don't know about that but Spud does know that Red Wings give you Bull***t!

Particularily their deluded fan base.

October 24th @ Joe Louis Arena.

Be there.

Be Well.

Oct 24th eh?

I may have to attend that one - in a deluded state, of course!

Be Well

It's a good thing that you didn't add "genetalia size" as we all know that blacks are hung like field mice.

** CalifChris raises hand too **

Unless they're all too skeered that is :>P

Na na na na na na!

Be Well.

The GOP will definitley change its party stances and the candidates it nominates to get 10% of a voting bloc... They'd be stupid not to! -- Rob_The_A_Hole

I used to live in an area where there were often good Republican candidates in state and local elections. I voted for some of them.

That ended with the 1988 presidential campaign. I find the Southern strategy so morally repugnant that 20 years after the Horton ads, I still can't vote for a Republican even when I think the Dem is an idiot. I can't be the only white they lost.

You can put lipstick on a hog, but its still a hog.

The GOP is and has practiced racial politics since I can remember. All this obfusication and BS is just that BS.

amerikkka is sick and the southern strategy only perpetuates it.

It's the Dems who are the racists, for they are the ones who seek to keep the Black population dependant on government. After 40 years of social programs, many Blacks are still no better off than they were to begin with. In fact, some might say the Black culture had disentegrated beyond recognition. MLK would be proud, eh?

Voting representation for the people in DC is nothing more than a politcal ploy of the democrats to gain one more seat in congress. If it were truely about allowing representation for all, they could have added Peurto rico to the bill, allowing them equal rights as US citizens. However, that would not fit in to the democrat agenda because Perto Rican voters may not vote along democrat lines. While we are at it what about voting rights for US citizens on Guam and all other US territories?. Why Doesnt Herbert call the democrats racsist for not including all minorities in such a bill?

The self appointed black leaders do a disservice to all black people. As long as they preach dependence on the governement and white america the republicans will have no reason to court them, nor will the black community get out of poverty.

Now the the old gaurd is trying to rekindle the glory days of the civil rights movement of the 50's by marching in a small southern town. The only problem is that they are no longer fighting for the rights of innocent blacks, they are fighting for the rights of hoodlums who ganged up and beat a single white kid? Where should the charge of Racsism lie?

"Judge me by the content of my character, not the color of my skin." While that might not be an exact quote, it's pretty close. Now, the rap music industry is destroying Black character along with the Black culture. The Black community is disentegrating before our very eyes. And today's Black Democrat leaders like Sharpton and Jackson seek to defend such behaviour. The Black community will never leave the plantation as long as they continue to vote for the Dems. One day, hopefully soon, the Black community will realize that the Democrats have been holding them back from seeing their full potential.

how many of you Republicans believe that blacks are equal in ALL ways ( culturally, morally and ethically) with whites?

If they were, why is the HIV rate of African American women so high? Why is the out of wedlock birth rate so high? Why is teen pregnancy rate so high?
