I'm sure that 9/11 conjures up the most nightmares for Mayor Giuliani, er, ah, that is, until Friday night's ferry ride in the Straits of Mackinac. Was it chance, or divine intervention, that the stars would line up for the following to happen?

"Is there a God in Heaven or what? For the stars to line up that this would happen, Ron Paul must be destined to be our next president. Rudy Giuliani, and his 5 supporters, stuck on a ferry in the Straits of Mackinaw with 200+ Ron Paul supporters. This was FUN! "

I love Mackinac Island. Some good fossils on the limestone shores, but you can't take them with you.

I keep wondering who the people are who make up the enthusiastic/cultish Ron Paul fans. This post does little to enlighten me.

Anti-war Republicans is kind of a meaningless title, are you isolationists? I know you're not pacifists. NAFTA superhighway seems to be a clue, along the lines of NAU freak hysteria, so education is obviously optional. Michigan seems to be a clue, along the lines of militia, but undoubtedly without military service.

So, isolated, under-employed, poorly educated, economically challenged - check, check, check, check.

And Ron Paul himself...delusional, susceptible to wild conspiracy theories about 9-11, highly educated but apparently senile...nope, I still can't connect the dots.

You people are freaks. Help me out -- did you actually vote for Bush, or did you sit out the last two elections? I can't imagine that you voted for Kerry or Gore, but maybe you did. I just want to make sure that when Paul gets 1% of the vote, you might support the most conservative candidate -- and, hey!, that might be Rudy! -- instead of helping to elect Shrillary.

If anybody is a freak it is precisely Rudy. The guy was obvisously traumatized by 9/11 and who can blame him. But rather than running for president at this time, he should seek professional help. He really scared the crap out of me in that Fox debate a few months ago when he and Paul had an exchange.

Rudy and Hillary are very similar. I wouldn't consider Rudy to be conservative. Rudy and Hillary are both northeastern liberals who are anti-gun and pro-war. Voting for one or the other makes no difference.

I voted for Bush in 2000 because back then I still subscribed to the theory of the lesser of two evils. By 2002 I started voting Libertarian and haven't looked back. Ron Paul is the only Republican I could support.

That milita and conspiracy theory crap I don't know where you are getting it from. And how can you make assumptions about the demographic profiles of the people who support Paul? Ron Paul supporters (and Libertarians) are educated, some would even say geeks, many of them technosavy.

And there is a difference between being an isolationist and a non-interventionnist. Ron Paul is a nnn-interventinonist. We don't want the U.S. to be the world police. What ever happened to Bush's humble foreign policy? And don't give that "everything changed after 9/11" crap, because it hasn't. Nothing has changed after 9/11, governments will use any crisis to increase their power that is a historical pattern.
