The first one.

There is no real Al-Qaeda in Pakistan. There are plenty of Taliban in Pakistan, but that is not necessarily the same thing.

Mushi has been... since a few years now... weaning the Taliban away from the Al-Qaeda... driving a wedge between the two. That can be done simply because Al-Qaeda are foreigners while Taliban are locals (very xenophobic locals).

That strategy has caused much pain to O'Binbin... which is now obvious.

That makes sense - if the Al Queda supporters can be convinced/bribed/coerced to switch from their side to yours. Not so sure Western countries can use the same strategy as there is a racial/religious/cultural barrier. Thankfully, we don't seem to have as many home grown extremists in the US as there are in some other Western countries.
