Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Thursday, September 20, 2007

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani bragged about his international celebrity Wednesday on a trans-Atlantic campaign trip in which he schmoozed with conservative idol Margaret Thatcher. "I'm probably one of the four or five best known Americans in the world."

"I'm probably one of the four or five best known Americans in the world" .

So? That's suppose to qualify you for the highest office in the land?

Giuliani: I'm Best Known American

That's an erroneous headline.

Rudy said he was one of the best known Americans which is true -- he did not say he was the best known american which would be bravado bordering on magalomania.

"That's an erroneous headline."

Posted by BowWow...
who has, of course, never posted an erroneous headline. Unless there was a question mark in it, of course.

Hans

"So? That's suppose to qualify you for the highest office in the land?"

If so, then I guess we have a Paris Hilton administration to look forward to.

Methinks Hizhonor is in in pretty appropriate company in the 'famous Americans' category. Ahead of him is Michael Jackson, OJ, and 'Dick' Cheney. Oh, and the Moron-in-Chief is probably up there someplace, too. Hell, Charlie Manson is better known and probably more loved than Hizhonor.

Rudy said he was one of the best known Americans which is true -- he did not say he was the best known american which would be bravado bordering on magalomania.

Neither does the headline. You make assumptions, and project the rest.

By the way, Boa is a great spoof. Well done.

Let's rewind that and try it again....

which would be bravado bordering on magalomania

Whew. Good thing he included 4 or 5 others in that group. Now THAT'S New York sized humility. By the way....it's not the size, it's what you do with it.

I think OJ Simpson trumps Rudy's International celebrity hands down. Hell Silvester stalone Arnold Swartanegger(Hey it's a hard name to spell so sue Me) Donald Trump Michael Jackson and Gwen stefani all trump Rudy being internationally known more that Rudy the drip

This is about the 3rd time I've pointed out obvioulsy erroneous headlines.

And of course true to their hypocritical form, the Lefty bloggers on Drudge.com in knee-jerk fashion attack me for pointing out the error and would never think of acknowledging that I am right or God forbid chastize a fellow Lefty for making the erroneous headline in the first place.

This is about the 3rd time I've pointed out obvioulsy erroneous headlines.

You're one to talk. (Where is Hans when you need him?)

"...would never think of acknowledging that I am right..."

When you are then we'll acknowledge it.

Hans

"This is about the 3rd time I've pointed out obvioulsy erroneous headlines."

WFW oh master of the erroneous headline.

But let's actually break it down. Is it really erroneous? No. Because it is not a complete sentence as it stands and there is a missing article between "I'm" and "best". It could be assumed to be "a" as well as "the", right?

The headline is misleading. Guiliani never made that claim.

Hans-
Oh, there you are. Got any Bowa headlines handy?

"You're one to talk. (Where is Hans when you need him?)"

He was right there at 9:23pm.

This is about the 3rd time I've pointed out obvioulsy erroneous headlines.

You!!! Give us a damn break, the lying bastard to ever post on this blog doesn't like the headline.

GIULIANI SAYS HE IS THE BEST KNOWN AMERICAN THE COUNTRY HAS EVER SEEN!

Guiducky is a shill poll blow head. It appears he is still blowing into his inflatable nose piece.

Bowa

I am sure the Lefty DR posters will be more than happy to take you through a reading for comprehension lesson. Sit back and keep your thinking beanie on. It will come in useful in more ways that a luddite and anti-intellectualist has a right to use it.

Afterwards, I hear those things just wash right up.

Danforth said it, and I'll second it: Giuliani merely stated that he was in the top five, so the headline should have read - 'Giuliani: "I'm Better Known American"'

You all have forgotten the Proverbial Headline Lokisfur aka Derfla5 aka Rastaninjja aka Larry Bowa aka Bowa made while posting under the derfla5 Handle that Liberals beat up a 7 Year old. How can ANYONE forget THAT little fake headline.

Larry

and would never think of acknowledging that I am right

....

coupled with....

he did not say he was the best known american which would be bravado bordering on magalomania

I'll happily type "God Save Rudy" at the end of every post for the rest of this week if you in turn swear to recognize the bizzaro world you must inhabit to say the above and in turn type "Rudy has bravado bordering on magalomania" on every post you type for the rest of the week.

You can also simply exit the site for the rest of the week if you so choose as well to avoid having to type such.

Regards,

"Rudy said he was one of the best known Americans ..."

Another Lokisfur Productions (TM) exclusive:

The "magalomania" (sic) thong: Feel my Best Known "American"

Hans

"Liberals beat up a 7 Year old. How can ANYONE forget THAT little fake headline."

Great catch, Larry!

Hans

Hans, how is my GPS headline misleading?

The story was that the british GPS showed they were in Iraqi waters when captured by the Iranians.

My headline reflected the lead of the story.

I think the bulk of the comments on the thread dealt with whether or not the GPS could be trusted, or even if the coordinates listed were in fact in Iraqi waters as the Brits asserted.

But that has nothing to do with the truth of the headline I posted in relation to the story I linked to.

Larry

Please feel free to choose anything from the second shelf at Loki's establishment and sent me the bill. I think you win the slam dunk contest and Bowa is feeling the burn.

At least I don't have to type God Save Rudy all week long now. For that you have mine (and God's) eternal gratitude. I expect God will have something more generous than a Loki thong to hand you to celebrate your big day with him.

I hope the wings fit.

Whew. Good thing he included 4 or 5 others in that group. Now THAT'S New York sized humility. By the way....it's not the size, it's what you do with it.

LOL

having too much modesty may be Rudy's biggest character flaw.

:-)

Nah TPS I think I'd rather wear a cactus than wear anything with Rudy on it. At least I wouldn't itch as bad.

Larry

But let's actually break it down. Is it really erroneous? No. Because it is not a complete sentence as it stands and there is a missing article between "I'm" and "best". It could be assumed to be "a" as well as "the", right?

LOL

I just love to watch Lefties defend the indefensible.

You made my night San.

Come on, the headline is stating that Rudy asserted , "I'm Best Known American"

he didn't.

For the headline to be truthful it would have to say
Rudy: I'm One of the Best Known Americans

Larry

I am in tears trying to finish the retort I am trying to craft. Unfortunately the imagery I've been stirred to return in kind is too dump-worthy to be postable. You will have to be satisfied with knowing my son thinks I am having a heart attack trying not to laugh too loud. My thanks.

Regards,
etc.

Rudy: I'm One of the Best Known Americans

Too many letters for RCade's meager allowance on headlines. Hence I clipped the least amount out from the original I copied it from to get it in.

Simple as that actually and not the VLWC you might be fearing I am unleashing on Rudy.

Having said that: shameless plug coming up....see my Rudy geography thread.

"Could we perhaps see an end to cheap shots from politicians and pundits about inventing the Internet?"

Doubtful, as folks like Bowa have seen this crap debunked time and again, yet will re-post this lie endlessly.

So which is it Bowa? Are you really that dense to believe Gore claimed to have invented the internet (which he never claimed), or are you willfully posting something you know to be a lie?

Still up for the challenge. A good Drudge tradition that goes quite a ways back and lots of fun explaining to those who come in on it a little late to know the origins of it.

Regards,
etc.

Oh You are quite welcome TPS Glad to be of service lmao

Larry

"I just love to watch Lefties defend the indefensible."

I'm not defending anything Mr. Arugula Kiddie Kondom Obama Wants to Invade Pakistan. I'm merely stating a fact. The headline as written is neither erroneous nor correct, but is open to interpretation depending upon which article you choose to complete the missing part of the sentence.

Therefore your statement that the headline is erroneous is false. It is, rather, merely your opinion.

Rudy meant "known" in the Biblical sense. Certainly, as far as wives/mistresses go, he's had more than the rest of the GOP field combined.

Too many letters for RCade's meager allowance on headlines. Hence I clipped the least amount out from the original I copied it from to get it in. Simple as that actually and not the VLWC you might be fearing I am unleashing on Rudy.

perfect, I accept that explanation. It makes sense. Thanks for letting us all know -- otherwise the nastiness here could have extended over hundreds of posts.

Its OK Bowa. I know how desperately you would like to be right, even just once. But even though the irony of you picking this particular battle seems to be lost on you, it is not on everyone else.

Oh, LOL.

"You are such a spoil sport"

There's a lot of that around here!

After a quick straw poll, while not unanimous, Rudy you are a POS.

And as you say, we all know it.

A piece of straw and a POS and you have yourself the makings of a GOP policy in response to the current mortgage crisis.

Spoken like a true Canadian.

Always looking down on their protector and benefactor, the one that protects and feeds them.

Bowa- This is about the 3rd time I've pointed out obvioulsy erroneous headlines.

Do it 7 more times to ONE single poster and they'll be in the Bowa category.

Because of RCade's restriction on the number of letters that can be shoehorned into a headlne, the reality of the situation vis a vis Rudy doesn't quite come across. RCade has, however, granted me permission (for a slight increase in the usual posting fee billed quarterly to the credit card of his choice) to post the headline as it originally appeared. Here goes:

GIULIANI: "I'M ONE OF THE THREE OR FOUR BIGGEST HORSE'S ASSES IN AMERICAN POLITICS---AND ONE OF THE RICHEST, THANKS TO 9/11!"

Always looking down on their protector and benefactor, the one that protects and feeds them.

You know that little about Canada do you? The world is a bigger place than you believe. Canada and the United States have a relationship that is unique in the world. America, in the sum of its parts and her history, is unmatched.

Having said that, poor leadership presently gets called what it is. Lest you think I believe our leaders are stellar - I'll be glad to disabuse you of the notion at any time. Please feel free to open a thread about the more base aspects of Canadian politics and I think you will recognize my style in responding.

Regards,

Best know, in Giuliani's case does not translate into most respected as it does in Clinton's case.
By his own logic Hillary would make a better president because 1. she is better known, 2. she is more respected.
When your qualification is the same as Paris Hilton's it doesn't prove very much except that you are good at arranging photo ops during chaotic crises when you should have been doing your job...which you couldn't do because you stupidly put the Emergency Operations Center in the most likely terrorist target in the city, against the advice of the experts because you wanted it to be within walking distance of your office at City Hall. Giuliani, the more you know about him the less you like him.

Taste of your own medicine, to a degree.

But you are absolutely right in this instance.

However, that makes Rudy sound like the self-important obnoxious prick that we here in NY know him to be.

Rudy is hands down the most famous crossdressing American. Sorry RuPaul.

Yeah, and what about all those cross-dressing women who wear pants!

What Rudy really said is, "I'm an extremely squat, neckless troll with no firm grasp on reality, but great fashion sense."

Who is more fashionable, Rudy or Condi? Who looks better in a dress?

I keep hearing about Rudy's cross dressing. Did I miss a news story? What is this about and when did it happen? Does it have something to do with his marital problems?

And what kind of panies, if any, was he wearing?

And what kind of panies, if any, was he wearing?

Window panies.

Seriously, what's this about? I'll admit I am as much of a sucker for a sex scandal as the next guy. What are these cross-dressing allegations? This isn't the first thread I've heard about it on the DR.

Goatman ask BOWA, he'll tell you all about it.

"I'm probably one of the four or five best known Americans in the world" .

What a self absorbed piece of waste.

I never thought there could a worse POTUS than Bush, but here he is.

I never thought there could a worse POTUS than Bush, but here he is.

If elected, Rudy would make Bush look like a civil libertarian when it comes to protecting our rights. This nutjob is dangerous.

Actually I really kind of doubt that Rudy even is one of the four or five most famous Americans. I bet even inside America there are quite a few people who couldn't pick him out of a line up or tell you who he is. Outside America I bet he is quite far down the list of famous Americans.

Goatman ask BOWA, he'll tell you all about it.

HOpefully he comes to this thread and read it. But what's the mystery? Doesn't any one else besides Bowa know? Now I'm really intrigued!

In order to ask Bowa, you have to do it wearing a hot dress and pretty pink panties.

Here you go Goatman.

www.youtube.com

Thanks. But more questions arise. Was that really Rudy? Was this a roast or something? If so, I can't believe all these people I keep hearing rag Rudy about his cross dressing if it was just a single gag routine. So it must be based on something in real life? Surely no one would call him a transvestite because he did a skit, would they?

"Was that really Rudy? Was this a roast or something?"

Yes, and yes. Watch the beginning of the video again.

He also did a sketch in drag on SNL. There are several other instances as well. I don't think he's a tranny by any means, but his penchant for dressing in drag (albeit for comedy sake)kinda makes him look foolish as a Presidential candidate.

No one would call Rove a Rapper.

Thanks, SAR. I see it now. I missed the very beginning. I was busy fumbling for the sound the first time.

"I'm probably one of the four or five best known Americans in the world."

* * * *

Well, it was tacky for him to say, especially to an audience of Brits, who tend to be understated about such things.

But he's probably right, at least insofar as politicians are concerned. But when you add in celebrities, I would say no way. Madonna, Britney Spears, Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood, Leonardo DiCaprio--these would probably be more easily recognized in the streets of cities around the world. I could be wrong, though.

Then I just remembered that the Rolling Stones were English. Apologies.

So how about you put me down for the Eagles, instead?

Goatman, Rudy dressed in drag twice as far as I know. Once for SNL, and once for some charity benefit.

If he was a Democrat I am quite sure that most people here would say that he was pretty hip and cool to get the gig on SNL, at the very least he would be called a "good sport".

It's kind of funny that so many people here get unhinged by me bringing up Obama's "arugula" moment, yet see nothing wrong with denigrating Rudy over this, or chastizing Fred over his "Gucci" shoes.

The way I see it is that all's fair in love, war and politics. But the fake moral outrage of the Left here is what's so disgustingly hypocritical.

How about

George Bush
Bill Clinton
Hillary Clinton
George H Bush
Dick Cheney
Rummy
Kissinger
Schwarzeneggar
Ted Kennedy
Jimmy Carter
Michael Moore

Well, it was tacky for him to say

Can't argue with that

C'mon Bowa, admit it, you just want to see President Giuliani in drag.

Yes, of course that's OK.

Why wouldn't it be?

Hillary won't be the first woman president even if she wins.

:-)

tRudy, You're infamous because you didn't listen to the wise people who told you NOT to put your command bunker in the WTC. You were only walking the streets because you refused to listen to others, much like Dumbya, and had nowhere to run the operations from.

Way to go, dipshit!

Hillary won't be the first woman president even if she wins.

I've been trying to digest this "rudy is a transvestite because he dressed as one in a skit" thing, but it scares me. A few halloweens ago, I dressed up as a terrorist, complete with dowel rods painted to look like dynamite sticks strapped to my body. I now realize I'll never be able to run for office because if I do, my opponent will produce some of these pictures and everyone on the DR will call me a terrorist.

Man, I fucked up my life that night, didn't I?

Why would I? I don't watch TV, so I wouldn't be able to know. BUt I do know that I have dressed up for halloween many more than 5 times. Three of those it was the same terrorist outfit. (my wife was quite a talented seamstress and it was shame to wear it only once) So you say I'm OK with the running for office thing as long as I don't wear the terrorist costume two more times, right? Once I hit the magic number of 5 times dressing as a terrorist, I become one?

I don't know who makes up these rules, but I'm sure glad to learn them!

But the fake moral outrage of the Left here is what's so disgustingly hypocritical.

And your obtuseness and/or deliberate misrepresentation of the facts is unabated and shameful.

I'm sure that most of us on the left have no prob with rudy in drag. It's the HYPOCRISY of your side that cracks us up. Do you REALLY expect us to believe that the repubs wouldn't CRUCIFY a dem candidate who had been in drag?

Please ... salvage what credibilty you may yet have and respond truthfully.

And your obtuseness and/or deliberate misrepresentation of the facts is unabated and shameful.

That's a crock. But you have a right to your opinion.

Do you REALLY expect us to believe that the repubs wouldn't CRUCIFY a dem candidate who had been in drag?

Oh please. No leading Republican or any republican I know would ever make a big deal about any candidate Dem or Republican appearing in drag as a joke on SNL or at some benefit.

Of course, I can't vouch for those extremist nutjobs over at freerepublic.com

Back to Rudy - one of the things that always sticks is that he is under this illusion that not only is he a hero, but that he is "fascinating" on every level.

To think that you are one of the four or five or three most interesting Americans in the world is one thing.

To SAY it is another.

To say to yourself "Thank God George W Bush is President" as your first thought after planes hit the World Trade Center, is not only extremely unlikely indeed, its unlikeliness is only magnified by SAYING it out loud.

To tell people that you stayed up all night reading about Winston Churchill on the night of September 11th to 12th is, again, not only extremely unlikely indeed, its unlikeliness is only magnified by SAYING it out loud.

TRudy didn't just dress up once for SNL. There are over 5 instances of him dressing in evening gowns for various events.

I know of two events. But please, post some links to the other three or more.

I'm sure you'll just call me a liar though.

Why would you be sure of that? You can check my posts, I never call anyone a liar without very good reason and the evidence to back it up. I take that accusation very seriously and wouldn't just fling it around because I disagree with someone's position as so many bloggers here irresponsibly do.

Frankly, as I said before, I only know of 2 instances where Rudy appeared in drag -- but if you know of more, just post a link to the info and then we can all check it out.

On the other hand, I expect if you can't find "There are over 5 instances of him dressing in evening gowns for various events." that you will be big enough to admit you were wrong.

Please ... salvage what credibilty you may yet have and respond truthfully.

LOL

Midiman, anyone who can seriously say "And your obtuseness and/or deliberate misrepresentation of the facts is unabated and shameful." already believes I have no credibility.

Sometimes I think people here are really crazy. I mean for you to really believe that I come here to deliberately misrepresent facts.

For what purpose would I have to do that?

I mean really.

I am only here because I am interested in presenting my point of view about the issues of the day. I can assure you that to the best of my knowledge the "facts" I use to support my views are true.

And if I didn't believe they were true, then I wouldn't use them to support my views in the first place.

What I have found is that people like yourself confuse "deliberate misrepresentation of the facts" with a diffeence of opinion and disagreement over what facts are relevant to the issue at hand.

And that is why, I have found that so many people on both the extreme Left and Right arrogantly and intolerantly believe that only their facts are relevant, and all other facts should be ignored, and those using them considered "liars".

BOWA we do tease about Rudy's dressing up but it isn't with the same meanness that is directed towards Sen. Craig because, though I'm not a Rudy supporter, he isn't a gay basher. His appearance on SNL was funny, he has a sense of humor that can't be denied and obviously it hasn't hurt him politically, as it shouldn't.
The teasing will continue but it isn't a big deal because Rudy laughs about it himself.

Why would I? I don't watch TV, so I wouldn't be able to know. BUt I do know that I have dressed up for halloween many more than 5 times. Three of those it was the same terrorist outfit. No, that not at all what I was saying, but I have to remember who I'm talking to. You truly are a drama queen.

I was making the point that Trudy likes to dress up ALOT and it wasn't just for SNL. That should play well to 'the base'.

On the other hand, I expect if you can't find "There are over 5 instances of him dressing in evening gowns for various events." that you will be big enough to admit you were wrong.

Even Bush "uses the google" but somehow you can't?

Put "Giuliani in drag" into the search field under "images" and you will see him in more then 5 different dresses. Hence, at least FIVE different times.

FUCK, some of you people are too stupid to have found this site on your own. How do you get through the day??

Why would you be sure of that? You can check my posts, I never call anyone a liar without very good reason and the evidence to back it up. I take that accusation very seriously and wouldn't just fling it around because I disagree with someone's position as so many bloggers here irresponsibly do.

Common, Well, I did the search and didn't see him in "five different dresses' but even so, I still only found two events where he appeared in drag -- on SNL, and at some NYC benefit (it may have been a "Roast' by the NY press corps)

I love your "spinning" though that five different dresses at two events = 5 times in drag.

LOL

Well, danni it is true that the "teasing" by liberals over rudy's crossdressing is downright affectionate compared to what goes on by the right wing wackos over at freerepublic.com.

Guess he couldn't use "famous" cos that woulda just started up the whole "famous v. infamous" debate.

"Popular" would be out too, fer obvious reasons.

Bowa thinks that if Ru-paul G had sed he was THE best known American it woulda been akin to "magalomania" (sic) but as it is?... a spot on assessment or sommat.

Clue to Rudeboy and Bowa too if he's still playin' along at home.

That's still a pretty narcissistic statement.

Rudeboy's high opinion of himself and his profile aren't neccessarily reflected in reality. Ebola is pretty well known too internationally but nobody is likely to vote fer it.

Bowa, if yer spirited defense of the man has come down to declaring that he's not THAT self-absorbed or that he doesn't wear THAT many dresses then it's a pretty sad day.

Be Well.

A man who has worn dresses that many times has some serious issues.

I'm Big in Japan!!!

LOL

5 different dresses.

Spin? Thats what Trudy does to how off her dresses.

FUCK, some of you people are too stupid to have found this site on your own. How do you get through the day??

Ok. Now THAT made me laugh.

I ask that several times a day whilst in the odd meeting listening to someone whose diatribe resembles that of the guy on a street corner I gave a dollar to earlier in the day, smelling like a backed up sewer.

Regards,
etc.

It's not called a wig. It's called a merkin. He got it from his cousin, the one he married.

Ok BL2, I'll give you credit, the dong joke did make me laugh. Goat's "Window Panies" was funny too.
