Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Howard J. Krongard, the State Department's inspector general, has repeatedly thwarted investigations into contracting fraud in Iraq and Afghanistan, including construction of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, and censored reports that might prove politically embarrassing to the Bush administration, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform charged yesterday in a 13-page letter.

.......is anyone surprised ??........

Covering up? Not this plain spoken Administration.
Next we'll hear Tillman didn't die in a knife fight with Osama.

.........our democracy is diminished..............

Only those libruls who hate America want to know how the money we're borrowing from the godless chi-coms is being spent.

We all know what an honest, upright and decent guy Henry Waxman is. His relentless harassment of the IG for six years could never be construed as being politically motivated.

The White House now orders the State Dept. Inspector Gen. to withhold from Congress all papers, documents, testimony, emails, etc. because of "Presidential Privelege."

How can a president reward his crony buddies if he has to worry about Congress looking over the shoulder of the Inspector General???
Just another attempt by Dems to make Bush look bad.
If Alberto Gonzalez knew about this he would have prosecuted...uh huh.

The biggest bunch of crooks in my lifetime.

this just in-

Senator Larry Craig is willing to offer his expertise into probes.

He even offered to probe Howard J. Krongard.

"THE GREAT IRAQ SWINDLE"

If you read this article and you do not want Bush, Cheney, and their entire crime family prosecuted and put in jail -- you are not an American.

At a time Bush opposes a 3% pay raise for troops as 'too much' vast waste and fraud goes on at unparalled numbers with only $6 Million recovered so far...

THE GREAT IRAQ SWINDLE

In Afghanistan, the same thing goes on. Hospitals are without sufficient electricity, making them share oxygen among preemie babies, blood running into open sewers outside, and 60 year old equipment that doesn't work given in the name of "The People of The United States".

The only ones benefitting from this war are rich political cronies.

""His relentless harassment of the IG for six years could never be construed as being politically motivated.""

You have, literally, billions missing and Waxman is now able to conduct investigations after the six years of Republicans obstructing any attempt to investigate and Vernon claims it is just a political witch hunt. What a fucking joke you are Vernon. How many billions need to be missing before it ceases being partisanship and starts being the right thing to do????

"If you read this article and you do not want Bush, Cheney, and their entire crime family prosecuted and put in jail -- you are not an American.

You're right. Vernon's got one foot in the Philipines.

This is just one more punch to the face of the American taxpayer. This bullshit cronyism is a cancer that needs to be cut out.

At least in the old days, 'cost plus' jobs were actually FINISHED, unlike Iraq and Afghanistan where they lay unfinished in ruin.

CBS News is running a series on Afghanistan. One hospital has open sewers with blood running out, insufficient electricity, biowaste buried in open holes, syringes and other biowaste laying on the pavement outside for the children to play with, equipment that doesn't work, etc.

Read 'THE GREAT IRAQ SWINDLE" linked above to get a sense of the arrogant and unchecked greed of Bush/Cheney cronies. It'll turn your stomach.

Once again, a poor downtrodden hardworking conservative is the victim.
Time to call the conservative Waaaaaaah-mbulance!!
The harassment was relentless!!!

""CBS News is running a series on Afghanistan.""

But we know they are a bunch of troop hating defeatocrat traitorous atheists.Tthey all worship Dan Rather over there, and he was a known liar cuz he couldn't prove that Bush went AWOL. His previous thirty years of reporting don't matter, especially the reports he did from actual jungle fire bases in Vietnam.

It is just a political witch hunt. One of hundreds Waxman and the rest of the Democrat Crackpots have launched.

It's cute to see your selective outrage over fraud in Iraq spending; meanwhile, you don't seem to mind the $30 billion in earmarks Waxman helped California get -- all tacked onto the Iraq spending bills he approved.

Danni, MIDI: you're both hypocrites.

Montecore: You're just jealous.

Danni, you forgot "communist".

IRAQ WHISTLEBLOWERS VILLIFIED, DEMOTED

THIS is how your beloved Republican administration treats those trusted with ensuring our taxpayer dollars are well spent.

We all know what an honest, upright and decent guy Henry Waxman is. His relentless harassment of the IG for six years could never be construed as being politically motivated.

I don't give a shit if it is politically motivated, is it true?

With a lithium battery to power the Vernon Calculator(tm).

Poor poor republitards getting caught blocking any inquiries into the fraud that permeates the Iraq reconstruction. Of course it is a political witch hunt Vern, what else could justify it?

That and Ted Stevens, Duke Cunningham, Tom Delay, Jack Abramoff, Speedy Gonzalez, Scooter Libby, Larry Craig, David Vitters, Mark Foley, etc. were all nothing more than political witch hunts!

My god, the horror of having to account for taxpayer funds.

Vernon if you were anything other than a partisan hack hell bent to put party politics over country you would be outraged at the missing billions. After all it is "your" money according to your neocon theories. They are stealing "your" money and then not investigating.

But go ahead and sping away. I think your Delta Tau Chi name shall be... "Maytag".

sping = spin.

Damn.

For daring to report illegal arms sales, Navy veteran Donald Vance says he was imprisoned by the American military in a security compound outside Baghdad and subjected to harsh interrogation methods.

There were times, huddled on the floor in solitary confinement with that head-banging music blaring dawn to dusk and interrogators yelling the same questions over and over, that Vance began to wish he had just kept his mouth shut.

He had thought he was doing a good and noble thing when he started telling the FBI about the guns and the land mines and the rocket-launchers -- all of them being sold for cash, no receipts necessary, he said. He told a federal agent the buyers were Iraqi insurgents, American soldiers, State Department workers, and Iraqi embassy and ministry employees.

One after another, the men and women who have stepped forward to report corruption in the massive effort to rebuild Iraq have been vilified, fired and demoted.

Or worse.

Vernon's right, these damned Democrats just sit around and then pounce on every little theft of a few billion dollars just cuz they are partisan hacks. Jeeez....a few billion dollars is nothing to get excited about for crying out loud.

Support the troops? Ya sure:

"In perhaps the ultimate example of military capitalism,KBR reportedly ran convoys of empty trucks back and forth across the insurgent-laden desert, pointlessly risking the lives of soldiers and drivers so the company could charge the taxpayer for its phantom deliveries. Truckers for KBR, knowing full well that the trips were bullshit, derisively referred to their cargo as "sailboat fuel."

THE GREAT IRAQ SWINDLE

"...George W. Bush's war in the Mesopotamian desert was an experiment of sorts, a crude first take at his vision of a fully privatized American government. In Iraq the lines between essential government services and for-profit enterprises have been blurred to the point of absurdity -- to the point where wounded soldiers have to pay retail prices for fresh underwear"

James K. Haveman, who had served as Michigan's community-health director under a GOP governor, was put in charge of rehabilitating Iraq's health-care system and decided that what this war-ravaged, malnourished, sanitation-deficient country most urgently needed was . . . an anti-smoking campaign.

*********************

Of course.

when L. Paul Bremer was installed as head of the CPA, one of his first brilliant ideas for managing the country was to have $12 billion in cash flown into Baghdad on huge wooden pallets and stored in palaces and government buildings. When desperate auditors later tried to trace the paths of the money, one agent could account for only $6,306,836 of some $23 million he'd withdrawn. Bremer's office "acknowledged not having any supporting documentation" for $25 million given to a different agent. A ministry that claimed to have paid 8,206 guards was able to document payouts to only 602. An agent who was told by auditors that he still owed $1,878,870 magically produced exactly that amount, which, as the auditors dryly noted, "suggests that the agent had a reserve of cash."
In short, some $8.8 billion of the $12 billion proved impossible to find.

******************

But of course, it is all a political witch hunt(tm).

Vernon,

Where are you??????

What? You have to run because YOU don't want to answer the simple question!

Is it TRUE? Yes or NO

I see your politically motivation now!

No prob - if what you say is true, then he deserves to be criticized for it. However - should he be the ONLY one not doing it? This is a case where BOTH sides are at fault, and I have no problem admitting it and wanting to see it changed.

You, however, always seem to look for a "they did it, to" to excuse your side, rather than admit to the problems which are growing increasingly obvious on a near daily basis.

"THE GREAT IRAQ SWINDLE"

the only thing left to do is sign these pardon thingys, make sure the swiss bank accounts have cleared everything, and then I think were outta here, Dick.

Oh ... and on the "selective" part of your point - unless you can be sure that NO REPUBS had any earmarks on that same legiclation, then wouldn't your singling out of Waxman be, well .... selective?

Bush:

"Give me another $150 BILLION for Iraq"

"No, I won't approve $21 Billion to put cops back on the street, or fund education......TOO MUCH!!"

AU

I don't think most people realize how deep and far up the chain this corruption and fraud with these war profiteering contracts went nor to what degree billions of our dollars were stolen with the help of this Administration. When this breaks open -- if it ever sees the light of day -- it will make Watergate look absolutely trivial in comparison.

Of you? A septugenarian moving to the Philipines to be with her:

? You are seriously delusional, old man.

Vernon claims Wasman got 30 billion in earmarks attached to Iraq funding bill, I'd like to see some kind of link, anyone else???

FYI, I've been doing searches on Yahoo and Google, can't find any link that makes a similar claim.

How about it Vernon???

We all know what an honest, upright and decent guy Henry Waxman is. His relentless harassment of the IG for six years could never be construed as being politically motivated.

Waxman relentlessly harassed the Idiot General vernon?
I thought he was the Attorney General, and "idiot" was just an apt description, not an official title. And I guess your calculator doesn't remember Ashcroft being AG at any point, either.

(Raising hand)

Vernon is a devotee of FOX News, Danni. It doesn't have to be true, you just have to say it often enough and loudly enough and it becomes true by osmosis or something. Amazingly this technique actually worked for a few years but is now generally seen to be what it is.

Not by dear old Vern though, he's still spinning away like those three great gravy trains from Afghanistan, Iraq and Katrina were still speeding across the Kansas prairies to some magical, totally privatized Oz.

You are wasting your time asking Vernon to provide facts.

He is still counting the 200% annual rate of return on his 401k plan.
