enjoy your power while you got it! coz if we leave, your ass is toast.

Saddam part II, coming to a village near you.

Blackwater guys are Bush's private band of mercenaries.
Should be interesting to watch and see if Bush allows Iraq to actually run their own country.

Walt's out of a job. Best Buy is hiring or he can wait for Hillary's first big adventure about two years from now.

The scary thing is that they are coming back to the US with nothing to do but wait for new orders.
Secret police USA?

I have a new mouse and for some reason I keep double posting.

*you may also want to cut back to one cup of coffee!

I switched to beer hours ago....

But they broke no law!
Seriously, it's not against the law for mercenaries to shoot Iraqis. In face Bremer instituted a law preventing the creation of a law making it a crime.
Maybe Cheney should get a job as a mercenary. He'd just need somebody to hold the Iraqis down though...

Please someone help me !!!!

Should I sell off all my Halliburton Stock now ???

Where did Walt go anyway? Is he blogging here under another name or did he just sort of fade away?

""Should I sell off all my Halliburton Stock now ???""

Don't worry, a government bailout is on the way I'm sure.

Not to worry HackWater, I'm SURE Bush will continue to pay you even though you're no longer there.

Screw Walt, he is just another greedy pussy making a buck off of the war.

We don't need the likes of him here.

Seriously, where is Busty Angel??

Greedy? Perhaps. A pussy? Highly doubt that about old Walt.

You say it in jest but Blackwater is building a new facility near the Mexican border just 3 hours away from where I live. The locals aren't too pleased.

"BLACKWATER WEST"

Condi has called Maliki and offered him a hummer if he reconsiders.
She also offered him a HumVee.

About damn time. The reliance on mercinaries to protect the State Dept. is one of the biggest crocks of shit in this war. That's a job for sworn American military soldiers, not lawless mercs.
The purpose of the mercs has always been to hide the true size of the military presence in Iraq, and to rob the treasury.

And what I consider the biggest outrage is, the Blackwater mercs who shot killed the civilians will get off scott free.
If US military troops had done it, they'd be facing court martial right about now.

Don't you think US Army recruiting is hurt by Blackwater, when they offer 4x the pay and no acountability?

And what I consider the biggest outrage is, the Blackwater mercs who shot killed the civilians will get off scott free....

That's right and don't think it doesn't negatively affect the morale of our own troops.

Lou Dobbs show just now announced this story. Their report said that if Blackwater is thrown out of Iraq that will leave 25,000 less fighting the war on behalf of the U.S. and that the US will have to make up the difference somewhere else -- an excuse to reinstitute the draft, maybe?

I feel a Doobie Brothers song coming on...

"Old Blackwater
Keep on shootin..."

I think someone above had it right---It's not against the law for American mercs to kill Iraqis---And in fact there has been more than one case of them doing so and----Not a damned thing happening.

So, killing Iraqis is not murder. Therefore, Iraqis must not be people. Yep. Got that.

Part of me sees reinstituting a draft as the best way to end the goddam (thanks, Sally Field) war. When middle class kids have to go over there to die - unless they're rich enough for air national guards or have other priorities, of course - you will see someone in Washington decide that it's time. herm

Blackwater has been charging upwards of $150,000 per mercenary. That's outrageous. Their presence undercuts the validity and credibility of the U.S. Military.

Since when do we need to privatize so many various aspects of going to war? An equal number to U.S forces are 'support'. What a waste of money.

We're spending over $300,000,000 a DAY!! Yet, Bush is opposed to a 3% military pay raise as 'too much'. What a moron.

State Dept. in crisis mode after Blackwater accused in deaths

WASHINGTON - The State Department moved quickly Monday to tamp down anger and possible repercussions after the alleged killing of eight Iraqi civilians in an incident involving a private security firm based in North Carolina that was hired to protect U.S. diplomats in Iraq.

Had I know I could make 150K a year for killing unarmed-or even armed(no pun intended) Iraqis..I'd a joined too!

Sure would beat my 9-5'er....

Well, whatever you think of Blackwater, it is going to be a test of the legitimacy of the Iraqi national government. This is probably going to be a very popular move among the Iraqi people, and if we just blow the Iraqi gov. off in favor of Blackwater, it will strike at the very heart of Iraqi sovereignty. We'll be seen as choosing a favorite contractor over the Iraqi people, and defying the Iraqi gov. to boot.

Should be interesting.

""State Dept. in crisis mode after Blackwater accused in deaths""

Condoleeza Rice had the following remarks today about this unfortunate incident.

"No one could ever have imagined that hiring mercenaries, giving them weapons, and then even telling them that they were not subject to the same laws as are military are would lead them kill innocent civillians....where anyone would know about it."

I sleep better knowing Condi is out there talking and negotiating with all the other nations of the world.

You say it in jest but Blackwater is building a new facility near the Mexican border just 3 hours away from where I live. The locals aren't too pleased.

And the BushCo supporters have been duped into being afraid of 'Al-Qaeda in Iraq'. Go figure.

Condi wil find a way to keep Blackwater at the public trough until she can become a very well paid consultant. Perhaps then it will come to her that rogue private armies and diplomacy don't mix after all. She's come to believe that aircraft could be used as bombs after she'd claimed, with that disdainful bobbling of her head, that no one could ever have imagined such a scenario.

Over 1000 contractors have been killed in Iraq, many thousands wounded.

They don't show up on the official number of casualties.

My sorrow about those contractors deaths is in direct proportion to the difference between their compensation and our soldier's compensation.

I bet they will be right back under another name.

or the guns will just hire on with one of the other companies. Like someone else pointed out, we don't have enough troops to do their job AND the mercenaries' too.
I'm surprised Chris is worried about Blackwater on the border-turning it into a free fire zone will cut down on the illegals.

I'm not sure it is legal for 'private security' firms to have any kind of military role in our own country. I'm not 100% sure about law enforcement duties either.

My sorrow about those contractors deaths is in direct proportion to the difference between their compensation and our soldier's compensation.

Do you mean you have different sorrow levels for people depending on how much $$ they make?

Ain't no big thing. New WHITE WATER signs are being painted as we speak. The new LOGO is being inscribed on all stuff. By this time next week the evil BLACK WATER will never have existed. Keep the BIG BUCKS rolling.

You just reminded me of Jim Leach, the Iowa Republican who started the whole BS investigating the Clintons and Whitwater - which came to nothing.

Leach was defeated last year. Not an easy thing to do when you've been entrenced so long. Karma's a bitch.
