Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Sunday, September 16, 2007

Defiant and energetic, Sen. John McCain has taken his "No Surrender" tour to Veterans of Foreign Wars halls, parades and barbecues in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. He talks about his support for a renewed effort to win the war in Iraq. He pays tribute to Gen. David Petraeus and the report the general issued about progress in Iraq. The one thing that McCain does not talk about is President Bush.

John thinks that if he doesn't mention the man behind the curtain, that maybe he will just go away.

John was on Timmah's program with John Kerry, and Johnny Mc was all about saying how the first 4 years of the war under Rummy were a disaster, but the "new strategery" of the last six months under Gen Be... Petreous is werking.

John K reminded him
that the total failure to train Iraq troops for 4 years was the work of...... Gen P.

John McCain is a good man. He has served his Country and his State well --- thank you, sir.

I think its time he sees the handwriting on Arizona's wall: that he is not called to be President.

Live in dignity and retire in peace --- and make more money giving speeches and consultations.

not called to be President

By whom? Or not by whom?

Way too late. He supported Bush while the major damage was done.

Let's say I was walking down the street and saw that the bushes in front of my neighbors's house were on fire. I stop and watch a little while. I then fan the flames a little bit because I consider it a good opportunity to roast a hot dog or two. I watch as it spreads to the house and grows even bigger. I hear their dog scratching at the door, which is unlocked, and ignore him as he succumbs to the smoke. Then, only after saving the house is beyond hope, I call emergency services.

Should they thank me for calling the fire department?

The GOP, apparently.

It was "John's turn", but they left him hanging in the wind as a "loose cannon".

This was McCain's week to return to the fray in light of the Petrock Report, but Rudy took the headlines by making a forced association between moveon, the NYT , and Hillary.

Doesn't hurt Hil with her base to be seen
as not condemning moveon, and being seen as the candidate to beat helps her.

John McCain DID look better, healthy at least, in his appearances.

AND, if as is likely Fast Freddy T. sinks like a proverbial stone in public, and with Rudy anathema to the GOP conservative base, Johnny Mac could have a third chance soon.

MaCain is a political whore. he has shown his lack of concreate ideas and ideals over and over again. He will lie, cheat and steal in order to ge5t elected. He is an old man who has been pushed to the side of the road

McCain Loosens Political Ties to Bush

Too late. McCain's lips have become permanently affixed to Bush's butt.

nothing can help this old geezer's campaign. He's toast.

I think he has cut all his ties to anybody. Way to go Mc.

It's like they followed McCain's former independent streak in placing the string for his new role as a ventriloquist dummy for the White House. They must have fried his brain in South Carolina in 2000 when they skewered him with scorched earth lies and hung him in the sun to dry so W could win the nomination.

Does this mean there won't be any hugs or kisses at the convention next year? Can everyone say "George who"? McCain's about 5 years late on this.

Too bad Kerry didn't sound during the campaign the way he sounded on TV this morning. I've never been a big Kerry fan, but he really made a convincing argument this morning, and McCain was visibly flustered - and his argument sounded repetitive, simplistic, and "canned". I'd say that Kerry kicked a little ass this morning - too little to do any real good, though.

4 years, 4000 soldier's lives and half a trillion dollars short there genius.

McCain's gag reflex kicked in and he got off of Bush's ball bag.

It's rare that one gets to see a rat clinging to a sinking ship as it is dragged to the depths...

See something new everyday...

Too late.

I read he just converted from Episcopalian to Baptist. I suppose it could be genuine. If not, it's the single most pandering, dishonest thing that I think I've ever seen a politician do.

He had his chance. He should go home now.

Getting caught and spending years in a pow camp does not qualify someone to be president. I can appreciate the sacrafice he made to the country but John played politics all along and now must pay the price and that means no cigar.
