In analyzing the most recent Bin Laden video, digital image forensics expert Neal Krawetz writes that the video contained many visual and audio splices, all of very low quality.

He looked like a re-animated corpse.

A friend of mine whose private jet fleet transports dignitaries and military had a Navy Seal commander as one of his passengers. The commander told him that 5 of his officers in Black Ops had Bin Laden in their sights on 4 different occasions. When they called in for permission to eliminate him, they were told to stand down.

Weekend At Bernies?

Cheney and Bush on each side of his corpse dragging him around....Terrrrrr Terrrrrr Terrrrr!

All Terrrr, all the time!

The commander told him that 5 of his officers in Black Ops had Bin Laden in their sights on 4 different occasions. When they called in for permission to eliminate him, they were told to stand down.

Ooopps....my trigger finger slipped!

This doesn't surprise me because...

The commander told him that 5 of his officers in Black Ops had Bin Laden in their sights on 4 different occasions. When they called in for permission to eliminate him, they were told to stand down.

Told to "stand down" because how else could Bush play the eternal terror card and pop up another bin Ladin video on command if Bush had bin Ladin killed off.

Not surprised at this. Bin Laden is dead

"he has shuffled off this mortal coil, he is an ex-terrorist, he has ceased to be"

Off ya go!

The commander told him that 5 of his officers in Black Ops had Bin Laden in their sights on 4 different occasions.

That fucking pisses me off. I know that killing bin Laden will not magically end the war, but what the fuck?

That was one of those situations where you don't ask, you just do. I doubt the American public would be very happy if his men had been disciplined for "not following orders" if the result was the death of the primary man responsible for 9/11.

The guy would be a hero, orders or no.

"he has shuffled off this mortal coil, he is an ex-terrorist, he has ceased to be"

He's pining for the fjords?

Or maybe he's just stunned...

I see the CIA has been busy.

But NBC, CBS, etc., reported about "the new video from bin Laden..." as if it were an accepted fact. Makes a person feel like a mushroom.

Expert: Bin Laden Video Doctored

Duh

You can clearly see he's been nailed to his perch there at the end of the video too.

Kinda reminded Spud of the animatronic hall of Presidents at Disneyland in terms of achieving creepy, pseudo human resemblence.

He begin to appear more like Emmanuel Goldstein every day to Spud.

(Winston) "Does the Brotherhood exist?"
(O'Brien) "That, Winston, you will never know. If we choose to set you free when we have finished with you, and if you live to be ninety years old, still you will never learn whether the answer to that question is Yes or No. As long as you live it will be an unsolved riddle in your mind."

~George Orwell's "1984"

Be Well.

Bin Laden is more popular than Musharraf in Pakistan. He's five time more popular than Bush. Pakistan is a nuclear missile power with a population of 160 million. (forecasted to reach 300 million in 40 years)

How could the fight against Al-Qaeda be more important in Iraq - a Shiite country with a declining population of less than 24 million.

I know that killing bin Laden will not magically end the war, but what the fuck?

What the fuck indeed! One has to wonder at deciding to pass on such a PR coup for what must be a more valuable reason.

In a flight of fancy, one wonders if the persuit of OBL was really one at all.

A fake OBL video?

Certainly I wouldn't put it past Al-Queda. It would have all sorts of useful purposes.

Agencies of the American government involved?

That is a government at war with her citizens. Beyond that, why now, and why the content that was provided? It would seem to be an awfully unfocused black-op if that were the case.

And, continuing that thinking, wouldn't the "real" Al-Queda has something to say about that?

It certainly smacks of being a cut-and-paste job, if OBL did in fact sit for this nevertheless. Not surprising on that level.

There is however the ability to do this just "poorly enough" that it would send attention away from our shores.

If so, why now and why in the fashion is was done?

Regards,
etc.

Not sure I'd want that on my record, even if it meant I was the one who took out OBL.

Wuss.

And like I said, I just wouldn't have asked. I would have taken him out.

You can't disobey an order if you never got it in the first place.

----

Why do I find this story a little hokey?

That was one of those situations where you don't ask, you just do. I doubt the American public would be very happy if his men had been disciplined for "not following orders" if the result was the death of the primary man responsible for 9/11.

The guy would be a hero, orders or no.

Bin Laden will never be killed, captured , or brought to trial. If someone killed him, they wouldn't be a hero to me anymore than Jack Ruby was a hero for killing Lee Harvey Oswald.

There is no proof that would ever stand up in any court that bin Laden had anything to do with 911. None of his "confession" videos were of bin Laden. He isn't even wanted by the FBI for 911.

He isn't even wanted by the FBI for 911.

That's because Bush granted bin Ladin a presidential pardon.

"Usama Bin Laden is wanted in connection with the August 7, 1998, bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. These attacks killed over 200 people. In addition, Bin Laden is a suspect in other terrorist attacks throughout the world."

How could the fight against Al-Qaeda be more important in Iraq

Any oil in Pakistan? Nope.
We've already got the pipeline deal through afghanistan, thanks to President from Chevron Karsai, (the very first act of the afghanistan parliament)so why worry about a little thing like 9-11?

The commander told him that 5 of his officers in Black Ops had Bin Laden in their sights on 4 different occasions. When they called in for permission to eliminate him, they were told to stand down.

Asking Sniper not to make uninformed assumptions is like asking normal people not to breathe.

Don't assume, Pud.

You remember the old division of the word "assume"

he/she who "assumes" makes an (ass) out of (u) and (me)

It is hard if not impossible to make a skeleton speak.

bin Laden ain't bin around for some time.

There is one possibility however that he has in reality been around. That would be the vicinity of a certain as yet unknown bomb crater. In that instance he is here and there .....

After being introduced this past week to Monty Python's "Dead Parrot" sketch I'm probably getting the biggest laugh on here from your posts - *grin*

OMG! I'm so surprised!

CC, you mean you haven't seen Dead Parrot until just now? oh man that one is a riot.

"CC, you mean you haven't seen Dead Parrot until just now? "

Among other things.

Flakes Lyrics
Frank Zappa

Flakes! Flakes!
Flakes! Flakes!

They don't do no good
They never be workin'
When they oughta should
They waste your time
They're wastin' mine
California's got the most of them
Boy, they got a host of them
Swear t'God they got the most
At every business on the coast
Swear t'God they got the most
At every business on the coast
They got the Flakes

Flakes! Flakes!

I said it last week that it was fake!

Holy Crap, Batman, Al Q has the capability to edit video!!!!!!

No, I'm embarrassed to admit, I hadn't.
Goatman put up a few stanzas of "Dead Parrot" on a thread we were on the other night and I -- in all honesty 'cause the Goat does have a flair for writing and dry humor -- stupidly asked him if he had made it up (accents and all). Goat then provided a link to the entire skit and I read the whole thing. I had never heard that one before although I was familiar with Monty Python. Don't know how I missed it but better late than never 'cause as you said -- it's a riot.
