Amen. Sunni Al Anbar, 5% of the Iraqi population and largly free of the sectarian violence that wracks the rest of the country, will be touted by the WH in tonights speech to the nation, guaranteed. It's not in any way representative of the overall situation in Iraq, and is not even participating with the central government after their reps walked out of it.

They didn't sucker Bush into invading with too few troops to guard the arms dumps and border. That was Rummy (R). They didn't force Bush to disband the Iraqi Army. That was Bremner (R).

They didn't force Bush to fail to recognise there were two warring muslim factors in Iraq and that neither side liked America. That was the Bush-Cheney-Rice-Wolfie Deludional clusterfuck (R) that passed for leadership in the eyes of you Fighty Rightys.

Oh I dunno... I noticed that in all the publicity photos with Bushling he wasn't smiling... Bushling was grinning like a camel eating briars. Hell Dubya's Dad knew it was a Failure before Dubya invaded. Hell even Dick Cheney did too until He got in charge of some big money(Halliburton) and then the Greed took over. Trouble is the ones who supported this Calamity are now regretting that support but don't know what to do about it. I think they have to stay in denial or else the truth gets to them mightily.

THE PLAN was to zip in, whack Saddam, prop up Chalabi and some INC guys, and then move on to "Kickin' Ass" somewhere else - and to do it in 6 months for less than $50 billion. This is WHAT THEY SAID WOULD HAPPEN. If they had done that, everybody would be over it by now. A lot of people would be pissed about the lies about WMD, but what's done would be done.

The problem is, they're all a bunch of fuckups living in a fantasy world, and they didn't have a clue as to how to actually make it all happen. The very fact that we're still there in force, still hemorraging blood and money, is what makes this a failure. THE BEST we can hope for now is a distant second-best, some face saving fiction and an Iraq that doesn't completely fall apart the instant we let go. Fuck it, it's not worth it.

I don't know what history book you've been reading but that certainly wasn't the outlook at the time at least by the north. The north had and took every advantage and made good use of it. The only plus for the south was that it was fighting on its own turf and many from West Point went to the south including Lee.The civil war in Iraq is not our fight those that got involved in our civil war did so only when they determined who would win.
