Jon Stewart's first hosting of the Oscars ceremony was the funniest and best Oscars ceremony that Spud had ever seen and Spud luffs the freakin' Oscars and hardly ever misses 'em.

Good freakin news fer a change. WOO HOO!

There's no way he's gonna beat that last opening but Spud is curious to see him try.

Be Well.

Jon Stewart=the coolest Jew in the US.

Sorry, grandpa Charlie...

Jon Stewart=the coolest Jew in the US.

Jon Stewart is Jewish?!
Oh c'mon now ...yer just making that up.
Stewart aint no Jewish name.
Does this mean that Martha Stewart is a Jew too?
Spud's all confoosed now.

Oy vey!

Be Well.

Did you see the episode last month when he and Denis Leary were trying to come up with Jewish pro baseball players? Too funny.

conjones (noun) Sp; a physical condition where the testicles are conjoined into one large meatball;

Jon Stewart (born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz on November 28, 1962

Yeah, Jewish as hell.

spud.....you cant be serious

noone has EVER done it better than billy crystal..

and I would like to tell all of the sponsors..

even though I like watching the oscars, with the first BULLSHIT, nonsensical, means absolutely nothing liberal garbage about anything political.
my tv is being changed even if it means I watch one of the silly nighttime cartoons........

even if it means I watch one of the silly nighttime cartoons........

C'mon, you're a Pokemon fan, admit it.

After Marlon Brando turned the Oscars into a political event, I lost all interest in them. This one is guaranteed to be a 4 hour Bush bash considering the audience and the host. If I want to hear Bush bashing, I'll go elsewhere, not the oscars. Entertainment is entertainment. Politics are politics. They should remain separate.

Pokemon one of THE most stupidest cartoon toys ever to graze the World stage. I would rather eat broken glass than toread that stupified shit.

Larry

Entertainment is entertainment. Politics are politics. They should remain separate.

Bashing Bush is entertainment.

Bashing Bush is entertainment.

Political humor is entertainment, regardless of who's in charge. Comedians are just lucky these days that Bush provides them with an almost endless stream of material.

born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz

Jon was the illegitimate luff-child of Fran Leibowitz?!

Spud had never heard that before.

Makes sense now, of course.

spud.....you cant be serious

noone has EVER done it better than billy crystal..

Makes Spud feel sad fer the rest...

More seriously, Billy Chrystal (never to be confused with Billy Kristol the PNUCklehead) did a funny and credible job each and every time he's hosted. Spud won't take that away from him. That sed Jon Stewart has his finger on the pulse of America's comedy heartbeat and Spud felt that Jon's job the last time he did the gig was exemplary and feels strongly that this time will be as good if not even better than last time.

Fer REAL!

Got yer Goat,

Entertainment is entertainment. Politics are politics. They should remain separate.

Politics is entertainment and entertainment is politics.

You can't and should never try to seperate them.

Politics is serious business and entertainment is not?

Spud thought Brando had kinda lost it when he sent that first nations chick up to recieve his reward and make a political speech. Either say it yerself or STFU thought Spud. The fact that Micheal Moore used his acceptance speech to make a political speech against Bush and the war was inappropriate by some folks lights.

Spud aint one of them folks.

Be Well.

Did you see the episode last month when he and Denis Leary were trying to come up with Jewish pro baseball players? Too funny

Yes, saw it. Agreed, Leary is freakin' hilarious!

Jon won't get up and go the bathroom cos he might miss the jewish player coming up?

Too friggin' funny!

Of course it was also funny when Jon oh-so tactfully pointed out to the audience members who may not have aware of the fact that Dennis is "old as fuck"

You can tell the two have been friends fer years, ya really can.

Be Well.

conjones = cojones

Suddenly Spud is get a horrific mental image of a pair of twins conjoined at the testicles.

**BRRR**

Be Well.

Bashing Bush is entertainment.

But predictible, boring, and trite. How about some new material? Some of us don't like hearing the same joke over and over. But some do. For them, there is Jon Stewart and the oscars.

For the record, I'm sick of britney spears and whatver her name is lohan jokes too. New material, please.

Goatman

Been trying to catch you to wish you a great vacation

That was a great conversation last week, NASA et al

Have a good time!

AmericanUnity

For the record, I'm sick of britney spears and whatver her name is lohan jokes too. New material, please.

I'm with the Goat on that one.

I did a little reading on Stewart, and found out that one of his earliest heroes was Eugene Debs.

Doing further reading on Debs, I found this:

In 1924, Eugene Debs was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by the Finnish Communist Karl H. Wiik on the ground that "Debs started to work actively for peace during World War I, mainly because he considered the war to be in the interest of capitalism.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, neh?

Who fricken cares!

Will Britney be on?
And, if so, what will she be on?

Stewart went out of his way to not dump on Chimpy last time and I suspect he'll do the same this time.
Personally, I'd rather see Colbert do it.

Waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.....the Hollywood liberal elitists will turn it into a Bash Bush Bash...Waaaaaa!

This from the party that continually wants actors for presidents.

Thanks, AU. It looks like I may be here another day. There is a tropical disturbance or storm over Houston as we speak. It is delaying the flights of our reliefs. We can't leave until they get here.

But predictible, boring, and trite. How about some new material? Some of us don't like hearing the same joke over and over. But some do. For them, there is Jon Stewart and the oscars.

Are you serious?

Once again we hear from the party that still can't get enough Clinton/Lewinksy jokes about how "old" the jokes are regarding the current presidents ineptness.

Fuckin' Classic!

Waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.....the Hollywood liberal elitists will turn it into a Bash Bush
Bash...

As I said, CS, if same old trite jokes do it for you, tune in! You'll be guaranteed 4 hours of them and liberal lockstep politics

I think Britney should have hosted --- she wouldn't need a teleprompter or script -- just tell her she has to do a shot and remove a piece of clothing after each award and then look into the camera say the first thing that pops into her head that she thinks is deep and profound.

It would be hilarious.

Once again we hear from the party that still can't get enough Clinton/Lewinksy jokes about how "old" the jokes are regarding the current

Who was that? I missed that retort. It's not much of a point you make if you must invent your own version of reality to support it.

Very strange, (un)commonsense.

Jon Stewart and John Hodgeman at their best. Keys to success. Or failure. Whatever.

""This one is guaranteed to be a 4 hour Bush bash"'

Hmmm, I wasn't planning to watch but the way you describe it I just might make the time. I love Bush bashing, can't get enough of it.

Stewarts last Oscar stint was a bore. He tends to fall into one on one discussions with guests and lose track of his audience, especially if they were in the comedy school of hard knocks together. He and the BBC provide the only credible News in American Broadcasting. But its his cadre of "resident experts" that make the Daily Show so great. It was just as good when Craig Brandle was the host.

Chris Rock was a funny energetic host.

Newsflash, BLT. There are things in life other that tv. Even at night. Don't want to watch the Oscars, for fear that someone will make fun of Dear Leader? Go out and see a band. Meet a friend for a beer. Read a book. Is it just you, or are all Texans that pathetic?

"Entertainment is entertainment. Politics are politics. They should remain separate.

I guess Goat isn't a Tom Tomorrow fan. Or Toles. Or Oliphant. Doonesbury is out. Too Colbert, The Daily Show, Hannity, Rush, and Coulter.

Tom Tomorrow is great.

www.workingforchange.com

The Oscars? Who the fuck wastes their time watching this shit, anyway?

I don't normally watch the Oscars (boring) I don't give a crap about most award shows but I will have watch this. When it comes to the Oscars I usually just want to know who won the big three and find the rest of it boring. I am a fan of Jon's so I may actually watch the whole program again. I wonder why some people getting upset by this. It just raises the questions. I though that most Righties hated Holly weird (not sure how Fred got so popular) so I cant believe they would even watch the evil hate America awards in the first place let alone care who is hosting them.

The Big Three? Best Picture, Best Director, and... Best Actress? Or?

Monologues like Leno, Letterman and that of the typical Oscar host tend to be topical and so politics is fair game, even at the expense of a Clinton or a Bush. It's just some of those Marlon Brando/Michael Moore moments that suck the magic out of an event that - let's face it - has been increasingly leaking magic for the past 20 years.

I though that most Righties hated Holly weird (not sure how Fred got so popular) so I cant believe they would even watch the evil hate America awards in the first place let alone care who is hosting them.

Hilarious! Um, where do you get your news and information?

I read a lot on line. I do watch cable news MSNBC/ CNN and local stuff but I get more of m news online then on TV. Washington post / New York times of course but also through BBC's web site and believe it or not I find that the Christian Science Monitor is a good counter balance for me.

I like watch the Daily Show to laugh I tried The hour news hour but the writing kind of lacked. I also check out Red Eye from time to time. I like the two actors they had on there and the SNL format but maybe I don't get the far right humor. BTW Jon Stewart will go after the Dem's if they win the White House. TDS did go after Clinton during the impeachment trails. The Daily Show is more about hypocrisy in the government and they go after who ever is in charge.

has been increasingly leaking magic for the past 20 years.

Magic? Is that what it's called?

Cause it smells like waste.

The Daily Show is more about hypocrisy in the government and they go after who ever is in charge.

I think you are wrong.

Want to put your money where your mouth is.

I'll bet you $100.00 that Jon Stewart does NOT start going after Dems if they win. The people on this ratort can be the jury on the decision so we don't have to argue it to death.

Well?

I'll be back for your answer, I have to visit a client.

"I'll bet you $100.00 that Jon Stewart does NOT start going after Dems if they win. "

Can I get in on that bet? No f'in way Stewart will give Dems a pass.

I read a lot on line.

Stu - buddy get out and meet some people. It's not a good idea to lump all righties into box of Hollywood-haters. Righties enjoy a movie (and presumably the Oscars) the same as anybody else. What righties complain about is what they view as certain Hollywood people overdoing the whole political activism schtick.

BTW - no surprise about the quality of the Christian Science Monitor. Don't let the name put you off.

Can I get in on that bet? No f'in way Stewart will give Dems a pass.

Even though most TV comedians (including JS) have an unquenchable thirst for telling Bush jokes, I have seen Stewart make fun of just about anybody, including Democrats. He'll go after anyone for a fix - er - a laugh.

I will take the bet. I wont watch the Stewart anymore if if doesnt

TDS was all over the Dems last night.

That's a bet you shouldn't have made.

Once again we hear from the party that still can't get enough Clinton/Lewinksy jokes about how "old" the jokes are regarding the current presidents ineptness.

Way to "get the goatman".

Who was that? I missed that retort. It's not much of a point you make if you must invent your own version of reality to support it.

Spud realises yer still kinda new around here Goatster but seriously if you can't see the truth in CS's remarks then yer living in yer own version of reality.

Besides Bush fucks up sommat new practically very week he's a non-stop fount of incompetence.

He actually fucks up faster than folk can write the new jokes.

Believe that.

Be Well.

I'll bet you $100.00 that Jon Stewart does NOT start going after Dems if they win.

Hey 2112,

You do realise that TDS started before BushCo got into the WH, don't you?

Do you think he gave the Clinton admin a pass?

Give yer head a shake!

Making fun of the hypocrisy of the pols and the inadequate MSM that covers them is his bread and butter.

Be Well.

TDS started before BushCo got into the WH (remember Craig Kilborne)

Good point. Those who watch back in 97-98 remember. If the Dem's do win the white house and Jon Stewart does lay off the Dem's I will not watch the show.

"It's not a good idea to lump all righties into box of Hollywood-haters"

MrFair I should not have linked all Rep in with what I meant by Righties. I was refering to the far right crowd but I take your point I hate when people link me in with the far left.

...and believe it or not I find that the Christian Science Monitor is a good counter balance for me.

Took Spud a bit by surprise but the CSM is actually some good journalism.

TT is King!

Tom Tommorow do rawk out loud!

And Oliphant is a
Master Craftsman

Be Well.

Great Oliphant piece, Spud.

Since Tom Tomorrow and Oliphant got links, here's one of Toles':

here's one...

Do not ask fer whom the post Toles.

It Toles fer thee!

Nice linkage mOntecOre!

Iraq metrics?

The guy who cherry picked the intel to fear monger the war into existence is now using selectively parsed criteria to show us all how much the surge is working.

Denying all that reality must sure be some hard Werk fer the po' Chimp, eh?

He was hosting prior to Bushs placement by the SCOTUS.

He did the same thing to Clinton.....the shows popularity grew because Bush gives him so much more material to work with on a daily basis.

I'll take the bet...........................
.

"I'd rather see Colbert "

That's a great idea. He would be awesome as well.

"I'd rather see Colbert"

Woo Hoo! That'd be fun too.

Of course, after his stint at the correspondents dinner that'll prolly never happen.

Spud hopes Colbert has at least some input into the Oscar night proceedings. Maybe appearing in one of the pre-taped scenes or sommat. That'd be cool.

The only two Teevee shows Spud watches reigiously are TDS & TCR.

Must See TV fer Spud is that.

Be Well.
