I'm no big Fred fan, but I hardly call 3.3 billable hours a hearty defense of the Lockerbie bombers. Just because you give advice on a legal matter doesn't mean you're the one who took the case and represents the clients. Lawyers are asked all the time to give a legal opinion pertaining to one legal aspect of a case and this apparently had to do with Thompson's advice on the venue/location for trying the matter. No big deal.

The $200 Billion S & L bailout as a result of Thompson's lobbying on ther behalf doesn't look so expensive anymore compared to the ever mounting bill for Iraq. Ah, what's a couple hundred billion here or a couple hundred billion there anymore? We can just borrow more.

$200 Billion is more than the $21 Billion the WH is fighting to re-fund the 'Cops on the Streets' program the WH cut and cops are pleading for as crime rates rise again, or education grants and 'No Child Left Behind' that were left unfunded and underfunded.

I'll be glad when priorites that help Americans take center stage once again.

How can anyone bitch about government spending when the WH has no problem spending our treasury on another country?
