Comedian Kathy Griffin's Creative Arts Emmy acceptance speech will be censored when the show is broadcast Saturday on the E! channel, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced. In her speech, Griffin said that "a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. Can you believe this shit? Hell has frozen over. Suck it, Jesus, This award is my god now!"

What a stark contrast to be drawn between yesterday's news of the passing of Jane Wyman, one of the last of Hollywood's royalty, a real star and a classy dame, and this example of what passes for celebrity today.

Kathy Griffin - "Suck it Jesus"
Best Song - "My Dick in a Box"

Help!

Worst of all, she just wasn't funny.

SanAntonioRogue

So true. I watched about 5 minutes of her D-list show awhile ago, and she stinks.

I'm not fond of Kathy Griffin, but I am fond of the sentiment.

As Bill Maher states, there are these sports stars, who, after a touchdown point up, as if acknowledging that some god made the touchdown, yet, when they fumble or make some other horrendous screw-up, they don't make the same gesture.

Don't enjoy self-deprecating humor? You guys must take yourselves and everything else waaay too seriously. Kathy Griffin is hilarous! Her Clay Gayken, i mean Aiken stories are priceless!

"As Bill Maher states, there are these sports stars, who, after a touchdown point up, as if acknowledging that some god made the touchdown, yet, when they fumble or make some other horrendous screw-up, they don't make the same gesture."

I agree to an extent Rev. I really don't care for the superficial, ostentatious and gratuitous "Thank you Jesus" crap we see so often these days.

But equally, I don't see public denigration like this appropriate either.

I actually enjoy some of Griffin's humor (and yes, the Clay Gayken stuff, and the Oprah stuff is pretty good), but I think this was uncalled for.

Does she have the courage to insult Allah?

"Does she have the courage to insult Allah?"

You missed the episode when she visited troops in Iraq.

If people want to share credit with their imaginary friend for their accomplishments, there's no real reason to go to a Black Tie event and make fun of it.

It's not exactly a classy move, and if the Emmy's want to edit that out to try and keep a semblance of respectability ("Junk in a box" not withstanding), it's their preogative.

Is there a point to taunting Jesus? I mean, is she expecting a response?

Jesus already took care of KG, and a mirror is hell on earth for her.

San,

About a decade ago, I'd have agree with you about the public denigration thing. Even then, I was an atheist, but I would have been a bit put off by this.

Since then, I have moved here to Nashville and I've run into things here that irritate me in the opposite direction.

Case in point, a local sports host was talking about Lance Armstrong (a well-known atheist) and castigated Lance on his show for "not thanking God for his cancer remission and victories in the Tour de France".

OMG dude! Wait till Jesus hears this one, he is gonna be so pissed!

I hear there are pictures of the fight on tmz.com...even better than the Kid Rock v. Tommy Lee fight.

Kathy Griffin.... interesting. Beatles once thought they were more popular than Jesus, and then the group broke up later.

Because Jesus is a gentleman and full of mercy and grace, I don't think Kathy will suffer any earthly consequences for her blindness and stupidity, but she will complete her earthly years in style and go to hell in style when her time on earth is up.

Free will.

I live in TN too Rev and I know what you're talking about. If you aren't a god fearing Christian most people in this part of the country think there is something seriously wrong with you. I used to just fly under the radar, but I have had fun recently seeing the horror in peoples faces when I say I'm not a Christian. "gasp"!!!

Judge not Takitez

Or as Bea Arthur used to say on the TV show "Maude:" "God'll get you for that!"

Truly, I can't see what she's trying to accomplish. I'm a lapsed Catholic myself, so I really have no dog in this fight (get it? dog?), but I still try to respect people's private beliefs. Griffin seemed to go out of her way to piss people off.

As for the Beatles reference, John Lennon was only stating the obvious - for many fans, they WERE bigger than Jesus. He wasn't saying they were better or more important than God - he was just talking about their massive fan base. It was just an expression, a metaphor for their unprecedented fame. Hard to believe anyone could still think that statement has any deeper meaning.

Beatles once thought they were more popular than Jesus, and then the group broke up later.

But still stayed filthy rich and immensely popular. Your point?

Gotta agree with the Rev, I'm so tired of people believing God takes the time to assist in a TD pass but was off golfing on 9-11 and Katrina, or the people who are " so blessed" when they find a convenient parking spot.

Ben,

When I first moved here, I was asked by a neighbour if I'd found a church. Where I come from, this is an incredibly rude question to ask even your best friend, but, it seems, it's very common here.

I'm a Zen Buddhist, so, I naturally asked if he knew of a good Buddhist ashram or temple in the area. He gave me a look like I must be joking at first. When he realized I was serious, he looked at me like I just offered to eat his children.

Since then, I've received in my mailbox the Chick Tract on Buddhism about every 3-4 days.

Additionally, in 3 seperate, public parking lots, on 5 different occasions, I've come out to my car to find a "Jesus Fish" attached to it (magnetically, fortunately) which, obviously wasn't there when I parked my car.

""but she will complete her earthly years in style and go to hell in style when her time on earth is up.""

Yeah, the threat of hell is so frightening, I am sure she is shaking in her boots.
Get a clue TAKITEZ, hell was invented to frighten ignorant people into doing what the elite told them to do. It worked for centuries but unfortunately most intelligent people today find the threat to be hilarious. Those who issue such warnings are morons.

I have come to a point where I have fun with it. The only problem is with work where polotics play a huge role. I usually try to avoid the question. I mean I'm already a liberal "gasp" so I'm weird enough. :)

KG is Jewish, and typically attempts to be outrageous.

She's not that funny.

I left the Lutheran Church because of its intolerance. Since then I've Christians who tried to live the life, but very few really do. There's that thing about being right, and once they believe that they are right then the doctrine goes out the window and they are as base and baseless as anyone.

Ben,

Go into my profile and e-mail me, would you? I'd like to talk about our mutual experiences as non-christians in TN, but I'd rather not clutter the Reort with it.

Judge not, BenFranklin. I only shared a perspective. As for going to hell, because Jesus is a gentleman and full of mercy and grace, KG has until her last breath to realize her folly and call upon the name of the Lord for salvation (Romans 10:13).

Or she can sing here way to hell: "I did it my way" ... in style.

"but she will complete her earthly years in style and go to hell in style when her time on earth is up."

Why is it those who purport to read the Bible are so prone to blasphemy?

Rev gets attacked, "Additionally, in 3 seperate, public parking lots, on 5 different occasions, I've come out to my car to find a "Jesus Fish" attached to it (magnetically, fortunately) which, obviously wasn't there when I parked my car."

You are definitely a victim of theocratic demands and hateful attacks ... I pity you. Civilians in Iraq experience NOTHING in comparison to the evil propaganda disseminated by Christians.

So what if they don't bomb your house, car or market! They are far worse than any Islamic worshipper of human sacrifice for Allah and to rule the world under Sharia! Maybe the jihadist allies of the Leftist/Democratics can assist you innocent victims of such viciousness?

Support their victory in Iraq, as you are doing now, and you and Islam will wipe the earth of these Christians, Jews, Sufi and other heretic infidels!!!

I'm going to be at least deleted for this one, but I'm going to post it anyway.

Jesus, my favourite nailed-up dead-guy: give me the strength not to heartily laugh in the face of your followers, for they know not that your story was meant to inspire love and tolerence instead of division and derision.

She tried to get publicity. It worked. Let's move on.

Tad, stand down.

I did not equate ANYTHING I have gone through with what our soldiers are going through in Iraq. I would never be so ignorant. I was merely stating a fact of what I have gone through.

Is or was it even remotely life-threatening? Hells, no!

The only person who seems comfortable putting my experience in the same sentence (actually, even the same THREAD) as our soldiers would be you.

"KG is Jewish, and typically attempts to be outrageous."

Pretty sure she's Irish Catholic (lapsed, obviously)

Sorry, Iraqi civilians. Same point, wrong group of people. My request that you stand down remains, Tad.

then the group broke up later.

I don't think Kathy Griffin will be breaking up any time soon. Crappy analogy.

Also, let me add, I can understand, from a social conditionign perspective, how hate crime legislation may be appealing.

It says "If you hate someone based soley on their gender/race/sexuality we find you to be even more disturbing then other criminals"

But it also has other effects, it has the Affirmative Action effect of not only highlightign our disdain, but keeping the differences front and center. It also has the effect of saying "If you were victimized, but not because of your race/gender/sexuality, your pain isn't as important"

In the end it's simply a double standard, and shouldnt be allowed to exist in a justice system.

lol... oops.. wrong topic...

sorry :)

Danni, I did not share the point to threaten anybody with hell. I did it to share that hell is a reality. The spirit world out there who miss heaven, or not allowed entry into heaven.

"Tad, stand down."

Can a fish ride a bike?
Can a chicken refuse to cluck?
Can the sun come up in the west?
Can Kathy Griffin keynote a Dobson Focus on the Family convention?
Can a bloviator resist a chance to blove?

Rev misunderstands, "I did not equate ANYTHING I have gone through with what our soldiers are going through in Iraq. I would never be so ignorant. I was merely stating a fact of what I have gone through."

I did the "equating", Mr Oblivious! You did the whining and made the attacks on Christians based on your experience with some Christian, or other. You act as if no one has ever had to put up with proselying; either from some religionist or some pathetic political stooge who calls you stupid when you say your voting for the other guy!

You act as if your experience negated Christianity and showed it to be something you feel comfortable demeaning ... while you can't even begin to express any similar opinions of human sacrifice, beheading, terrorism and the desire for genocide done by ISLAM!

No ... you can only spend your time attacking your POLITICAL enemies ... you don't want to discredit your FRIENDS to whom you want to win a victory for in withdrawing from Iraq.

Suck it up, Mr. SobStory Hate Monger!

TakeItEz smells of NicEvilLe. That you Gnubsy?

Northguy, my point?

God respects free will and does not necessarily interfere with those who wish to be left alone. And yes, every human is endowed with talents, and those who got righ out of them, so be it. Live a good life, Christians or non.

We are given space to be our full selves, so to speak. Humanity is respected.

Because Jesus is a gentleman and full of mercy and grace, I don't think Kathy will suffer any earthly consequences for her blindness and stupidity, but she will complete her earthly years in style and go to hell in style when her time on earth is up.

It's a shame when people make their God out to be an egotistical, childish prick. "You made fun of me, now you will spend eternity in conditions worse than the holocaust!" What's the point of being infinite if you act like you're five, seriously?

Taddly,
Mix in some prunes with your All Bran. You're ranting like an old man. A toxic colon could be the cause. You'll find that once you evacuate, you'll be able to think clearly and have more energy.

See a dietitian. I know, it's one more doctor to see. But at your age, and judging from the vitriol of your posts, it may prove beneficial.

Not just for you, but also for us. We have to scroll past your blathering.

I keep asking Christians how long was it between the day that Cain slew Abel and God authored the 10 commandments? I mean, up to that point it was all legal, right? Murder, coveting, disrespect towards mom and dad.

Then all of a sudden Moses comes down from the Mount with the first 10 of 15 commandments, and Cardinal Sins are all the rage.

We know the 11th Commandment is Republicans don't speak ill of Republicans, but what about 12, 13, 14, and 15?

Serious answers only. LOL

"but what about 12, 13, 14, and 15?"

Only Mel Brooks knows for sure what was on that other tablet of stone.

Pleasantville, your childish understanding and caricature of God is a pity.

God is not sending anybody to hell for taunting Him. All He is giving us is that there is a reality out there in the spirit world and those who wish to escape endless existence in uncertainty may accept His invitation to HEAVEN.

There are evil forces and millions of angry spirits in the spirit world and thats what makes hell HELL.

"Only Mel Brooks knows for sure what was on that other tablet of stone."

Oh, and in order to preempt any unseemly bloviation, please don't mistake my love of Mel Brooks movies as a comparison to the suffering and persecution of any group, race, or religion anywhere, at any time.

It is OK to not believe in someone else's faith or God. I also think that a well placed joke is OK too. However, to blatantly disrespect someone elses beliefs or God in the name of complete poor taste is a bad thing. These comments stretch the limits of decency. And they are not funny.

Tad,

All I did was relate my experience. I NEVER claimed nor implied it negated christianity. It points out the hypocracy of SOME (not all, SOME) christians.

If you want to take it to mean something I never intended, then you're crazier than I am, which means I strongly recommend you seek immediate help.

"Additionally, in 3 seperate, public parking lots, on 5 different occasions, I've come out to my car to find a "Jesus Fish" attached to it (magnetically, fortunately) which, obviously wasn't there when I parked my car."
--REVDARKO

That would piss me off as well, and I'm one of them. Not that I don't like Jesus, it's just that putting fish symbols on peoples' cars does nothing that Jesus commanded, and disrespecting one's property kind of flies in the face of humility and loving others.

That said, having once found a dildo and fake cum all over the door to my church, I don't feel sorry for you one bit. At least you didn't have to scrape off the magnets.

That said, having once found a dildo and fake cum all over the door to my church, I don't feel sorry for you one bit. At least you didn't have to scrape off the magnets.

That does suck, Live. I empathize and your definitely did have a worse incident of vadelism, no question.

I'm loathe to ask this, but...

How did you know the cum was fake?

people are aware of their existance, they are also aware that death will come. they will do anything not to die, find that fountain of youth, go to heaven. that's all religion is, a way not to die.
sorry all living creatures die, one life that's it.

what was that quote "only the rich go to heaven"
or was it "only the poor go to heaven", those that believe fairy tales should really consider what job will they have for all eternity. (is it lapdogs for god?)

if you want to unravel an islamic fanatic, tell him that his 60 virgins won't work, the soul has no PeePee.

There are evil forces and millions of angry spirits in the spirit world and thats what makes hell HELL.

I'll add this to my ever growing book of people who know what they really mean by "hell".

No really, this time its right, this is what is really meant by "hell".

Ok, last time may not have made much sense, but this idea of "hell", yeah this one is the right one..

and best yet, if you dont believe each version, somehow your going to end up there.

So my question to you is, what makes your version more "right" then the thousands of others that have explained it differently?

"That does suck, Live. I empathize and your definitely did have a worse incident of vadelism, no question."
--REVDARKO

It wasn't that big a deal. I was just the one that cleaned it up. =/

"I'm loathe to ask this, but...

How did you know the cum was fake?"

Well.. I... um.... I guess I'm not sure....

Live,

I understand it wasn't a big deal, but really, as with the whole fish thing I went through, it's a really irritating experience and, I would say in your case, disgusting as well. There's no excuse for this type of behaviour. What happened to me is likely to give christians a bad name, and what happened to you is likely to give atheists a bad name. Both were counter-productive to what I can only assume was their intent.

Get a clue TAKITEZ, hell was invented to frighten ignorant people into doing what the elite told them to do. It worked for centuries but unfortunately most intelligent people today find the threat to be hilarious. Those who issue such warnings are morons.

If you are right then there isn't a problem. If you are wrong............. You are betting in a high stakes game. Have a nice day.

Sniper brings out (and I don't know if he meant to or not) Pascal's Wager, in that (this is the short version) it's safer to believe in the invisible man in the sky than not to believe.

Now, back on topic!

Yes, I'm an atheist, and yes, I personally find what this (non-talented) actress said extremely funny.

But no, I don't believe she should have done it. Just a bit over the top.

Tasted soapy, not salty. OohRah

So you know what the real stuff tastes like?

LMAO

"Case in point, a local sports host was talking about Lance Armstrong (a well-known atheist) and castigated Lance on his show for "not thanking God for his cancer remission and victories in the Tour de France"."

By that asshole's login, maybe Lance should have thanked God for the cancer in the first place? I'm sure God gave his the cancer, along with the physical and emotional pain as a "belssing". If he's responsible for everything, give him credit for the bad too.

I'm an Athiest married to a Presbyterian, so it's easy for me to understand how important faith can be to some people and what it can mean question it, however it also gives me good insight into the hypocrisy of most Christians. Even my wife can see it.

Oops. "By that asshole's logic", not "By that asshole's login".

Jesus Christ, I'm full of typos today...

Jesus Christ, I'm full of typos today...

Typical atheist: blaming Jesus for their typos.

If you are right then there isn't a problem. If you are wrong............. You are betting in a high stakes game. Have a nice day.

But what if the real "God" is more offended when you try and praise some human wannabe as his son...

Seems to me, If I was God, and I enjoyed being worshipped, having to split time with some faker calling me daddy, I'd be a little miffed....

Just saying, if we're dealing in the what-ifs and whose goign to hell... that scenario could be a contender...

Pleasantville, your childish understanding and caricature of God is a pity.

I could say the same thing to you. The post I responded to and your response to it both imply a doctrine of salvation by grace. I refute that. It's downright silly to call salvation free and to reduce it down to an ideological manifest destiny.

Pleasantville, again I'm sorry to remind you of your childish understanding. But you are entitled to your opinion, however flawed it may be.

"I understand it wasn't a big deal, but really, as with the whole fish thing I went through, it's a really irritating experience and, I would say in your case, disgusting as well. --REVDARKO

Agreed, though the dildo was probably more the work of drunk college students than atheists (we're a campus mission actually).

To be honest, (little bit of a tangent here) Christians in general, though I'm one of them, drive me nuts. I absolutely hate the way many of them act. According to many, I'm going to hell for playing the devil's music on the drums, liking Magic the Gathering cards, and enjoying a beer. The same people would also say I'm not serious enough about my faith because I don't forward cheesy email chains that end with "if you really love God, you'll forward this to 100 people," I don't give money to churches that spend it all on parking lots and sound systems, and I don't go around slapping magnets on peoples' cars.

Even though it still bugs me when it happens, I have a hard time not just completely understanding when people say Christians are stupid or intolerant.

Live,

Understood. I will admit to being guilty of not specifying my antipathy is toward a specific sub-set of christians, rather than the group as a whole. My fault, I know.

I'm quite fond of many christians, and friendly with many rather fervent believers. It becomes a problem for me when a religious person (in general, a christian given my local, but I'd be equally annoyed by a muslim, jew, or even a fellow buddhist) starts berating me for my lack of belief in their particular brand of dogma, or worse, when they actually vadelize my stuff.

Gusto, you really need to see a demon-possessed person to understand that spirits are real. There is the difference between some people living in indiscipline and those who are really controlled by spirits other than their own spirit.

When your physical body dies, your spirit will enter the spirit world. The spirit never dies. You will still be the same person and remember everything you did in the flesh.

To find out whose version of the spirit is accurate, the God of the Bible has the best and the only accurate answer to this.

See the rich man in hell (Luke 16) concerned about his millionaire brothers on earth, living it up and not realizing the kind of spirit world that awaits them.

the God of the Bible has the best and the only accurate answer to this.

It's this line of crap that really disgusts me.

unfortunately most intelligent people today find the threat to be hilarious.

Danni believes it is "unfortunate" that self-proclaimed smart people do not believe in the concept of hell.

Your freudian slip is showing.

Lee advises, "Mix in some prunes with your All Bran. You're ranting like an old man."

I am an old man, Lee, and which age has provided quite a few examples of this kind of bigotry and scheming effort to revile and vilify Christians in order to negate the influence the subversives fear, and therefor attack. Sleaze mongers, holding ALL Christians responsible for the actions of a few ... as if they, themselves, would EVER abide someone doing anything similar to their "god": partisan politics.

You can see that right here, right now with yours and so many other hateful comments and vilification of the entire religion because their neighbor attacks them with magnetic fish ... (like "we" believe these self-serving ancedotes and the horror at religious zealotry of Christians, while they ignore that our enemy represents human sacrifice and world rule under Sharia but still want to "understand and accommodate them!"

"Not just for you, but also for us. We have to scroll past your blathering."

Then, when someone notices the concerted effort by Leftist/Democrats to discredit and vilify some individual or institute of society for their bigotted partisan gain in doing so?

You all automatically heap ridicule on them and mock them!

... and you just can't understand how happy that makes me! To have the ability to "turn-the-rock-over" and reveal how the partisan vermin squirm and scurry in circles; eating your own wormy tails in spite and fear ... whenever I comment in notice of that hateful tactic ...

BTW, I'm not a Christian ...

very funi speech...the award is God now:>)

Way back when I was in college I admired a friend of mine who made up his own religion based on worship of Diplodocus.

Pleasantville, again I'm sorry to remind you of your childish understanding.

Yes, good works are so childish.

Yes, even terrorists can do some good works. Hamas has been doing good works for some citizens.

Christ loves us all ~ I'm very sure...too bad he's not the only begotten & never has been:>)

"The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus by the Supreme Being in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter."
-- Thomas Jefferson

Takitez, please review what Paul wrote regarding good works. It's actually impossible for nonbelievers to perform them. (Which further suggests at childishness, but never mind.)

KG went for the cheap laugh. She thought she was being ballsy but it was really pretty weak and lame, attacking the main guy of a religion that - face it - is too nice to do much about it.

She should do some research and come up with some real comedy. Oh and a makeover would be nice too.

PRAISE GOD she lives in a country where she doesn't have to give credit to anybody if she feels no need and that she has the right to say whatever vile bile she feels like spewing.

i know i'm thankful.

Cheap laugh?

Here's another one:>)

This nonsense coming from an adult, in the 21st century. I can understand it coming from a child, or from someone 3000 years ago when humanity was held down by it's silly superstitions.

It's almost comical, when you think about it a bit. In fact it would be comical if it wasn't so pathetic. Sad really.

BigJohn, how can you be so arrogant when you have not been to the spirit world yet and have no clue what its like? Google 'Escape from hell' and check it if you're serious and curious.

The comedian's remarks were condemned Monday by Catholic League President Bill Donohue, who called them a "vulgar, in-your-face brand of hate speech."

This man is a raging alcoholic (still is) and has said that he does it "for the money". Yeah, really seem to care.

Also, how did ANYTHING she said offend Jesus freaks?

She said "nobody had LESS to do with this award than Jesus"....Seems correct to me. She was admitting that she got an award for dishing gossip and dirt about other people....something I'm sure jesus wouldn't condone.....hence, the statement is accurate.

So my question is this? What exactly was it she said that gets you all in a such a spiral?

FF 4 Commonsense!

It may have been the "suck it Jesus" that put it over the top, Common.

Escape From Hell, a drama. You want me to check out a drama to prove there is a spirit world??? Prove to me there is a spirit world takitez, prove that it isn't what it appears to be (that is childish superstitions).

What is your opinion on Thor? What about Valhalla. What do you think about Vishnu? What are your opinions on those superstitions?

"This man is a raging alcoholic (still is) and has said that he does it "for the money"."

Ha!

Who doesn't work for the money?

Fucking idiot.

Wow.

I think kathy Griffith is Funny as hell. I like her abrasiveness, its her gig.

She is really good at attracting media attention.

Whe she was in Briton she was scheduled to go on a date with one of their celebrities. Whe had her staff call the paparazi with the time and place she would be arriving. Upon her arrival she faked drunk and fell out of the limo and scraped her knee up. The act was quite convincing and she made all the papers.

I find her refreshingly funny to thie watered down PC bullshit we have to put up with.

What is your opinion on Thor? What about Valhalla. What do you think about Vishnu? What are your opinions on those superstitions?

yep the old "Jesus Wept"

followed by John 11:36 "Jesus Dabbed his eyes with a rag."

Followed by John 11:37 "And the disciples did proclaim 'Jesus is a girlie man, Jesus is a girlie man'"

Followed by John 11:38 "and lo did John smite down Thomas with genital herpes for taunting him."

Followed by John 11:39 "And Jesus said unto his followers 'Man do I have to cop a deuce'" Whereby Jesus pinched a holy shit.

Bigjohn, again you failed to notice that the drama was based on a true story. A medical doctor who wanted to see hell and committed suicide, but got lucky twice: his colleagues rescued him and he saw hell in what we call NDE (near death experience).

Again you're entitled to your opinion and go to hell with your unproven opinion.

again you failed to notice that the drama was based on a true story.

So was Titanic. 90% of the shit in that movie didn't happen either.

Again you're entitled to your opinion and go to hell with your unproven opinion.

You are entitled to your opinion also and can waste your life worshipping an evil entity and thinking you're holy.

Kathy Griffin didn't should be able to have her opinion and state it also.

Sorry--Kathy Griffin should be able to have her opinion also.

Kathy Griffin can say whatever she wants. However, Jesus has been on the A-list for about 2,000 years now. Kathy is an eternal D-lister. She's jealous.

Beatles once thought they were more popular than Jesus, and then the group broke up later.

Does this means the Rolling Stones are closet Jesus-freaks? These guys never break up and NEVER seem to die.

Except for Brian Jones.

SAR - I agree with you on this particular issue. It is a matter of the general lack of class that is everywhere. Where are the classy dames of today?

Maureen O'Hara is still with us.

Ness, the drama was simply to highlight the fact that there is life after physical death and that hell is real.

Concerning the Titanic, however much drama was infused into it, it was based on the fact that there once was a real titanic that sank.

Not totally fiction. Connect the dots, please.

Mine too. Where's the wiskey?

There is a "Christian Church" which practices the teachings of Jesus by meeting weekly in a member's home and sharing thoughts on scheduled Bible readings. They are not incorporated, have no name, all their Ministers take an oath of poverty, traveling from member home to member home across the country. No business activity in Jesus's name, no tithings, no property, no advertising budget, no IRS forms to file.

But there is a lot of bull in the Bible. Any GOD that would require death by crucifixation to atone for the sins of mankind is morally bankrupt. Projection run amoke.

"I haven't lost my temper in 40 years, but pilgrim, you caused a lot of trouble this morning that might have got somebody killed and somebody ought to belt you in the mouth. But I won't. I won't. The hell I won't." -G.W. McClintock

Cheers Wis!

She married Myron Futterman on June 29, 1937, and they divorced on November 1, 1938. It has been rumored that on April 8, 1933, she married Ernest Eugene Wyman (or Weymann). According to American geneaologist William Addams Reitwiesner, however, it appears more likely that Jane Wyman adopted her professional surname from her foster mother, Emma Fulks, who was previously married to a Dr. M. F. Weyman, and by whom she had several children who lived with Jane Wyman in her youth.

In 1938, Wyman co-starred with Ronald Reagan in Brother Rat (1938), and its sequel Brother Rat and a Baby (1940). The two were married (her second or third marriage, and his first) on January 26, 1940, and divorced on June 28, 1948. She and Reagan had three children; Maureen Elizabeth Reagan (1941 - 2001), Michael Reagan (adopted, born March 18, 1945), and Christine Reagan (born prematurely June 26, 1947 and died the following day).

Following her divorce from Reagan, Wyman married bandleader Frederick Karger on November 1, 1952, and they divorced in December 1955. They later remarried on March 11, 1961, and divorced a second time in 1965. Wyman never remarried, and after her conversion to Roman Catholicism, both she and her best friend Loretta Young obtained special indults from their bishop to receive communion despite being divorced.

Classy dame? People would call her trash today.

In her speech, Griffin said that "a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. Can you believe this shit? Hell has frozen over. Suck it, Jesus, This award is my god now!"

A wonderful illustration of C.S. Lewis' point that the gates of Hell are locked from the inside.

They would? How so?

Married 3 or 4 times, once for about a year.
A foster kid.
From backwater Missouri.

The same people who call Britney "white trash" would give her the same treatment.

I'm quite sure that if movie stars back in the "golden old days" had as many cameras pointed at them as they do today then there would be just as much dirt on them.

"People would call her trash today."

Yeah, or Rudy Giuiliani, or Newt Gingrich.

"I'm quite sure that if movie stars back in the "golden old days" had as many cameras pointed at them as they do today then there would be just as much dirt on them."

They did. But they also had "code of conduct" clauses built into their contracts.

Hmm...I don't know. This list of stuff doesn't seem to qualify because the lady eventually rose above her situation and figured out how to acquire some class.

If only Britney will catch on. Heck, even Madonna speaks with a fancy faux-Brit accent and writes children's books these days.

Nutcase, God has to prove death and resurrection to mankind, and He did it through the life of Jesus Christ. I would take that over your opinion, considering your opinion is only that: just an opinion.

Besides you haven't committed suicide, saw hell, and came back to tell it.

Armchair opinions can be cheap. And plenty.

But Zat, Gnubsy has a friend who knows a guy who heard about another guy who wrote a story about committing suicide, going to hell, then coming back. It MUST be true.

While I agree that Jesus doesn't help people hit home runs or score touchdowns or recover from cancer, I don't begrudge anyone else the right to believe that he does. If you are offended by someone else's harmless religious beliefs (we're talking about expressions of humility and gratitude, not violent edicts here) and feel the need to mock them because of those harmless beliefs, you're an intolerant jerk.

Zatoich, that is why you need to see "Escape From Hell" and call the medical doctor on whose true life story this movie was based. Otherwise your opinion on this issue is simply a cheap one.

Takeits

Like medical doctors have never lied. The guy is a whacko with an agenda. Some believe his lies. Some don't. Some believe in the easter bunny--some don't.

I am intolerant of intolerance. Religious people are the most intolerant of all.

I see her comments are being censored.

I expect all comments regarding Jesus to be censored on the airwaves.

If we can't speak ill, then we shall not be allowed to praise.

I am going to write a book about my "Escape from Heaven". I tried to commit suicide, landed in heaven, didn't like the company. Boring, to say the least. No drinking. No pot. No sex. Fortunately my character was suspect and so I was returned to Earthly life to demonstrate that I actually deserved to be in heaven. I have endeavered to prove I don't ever since.

I have not read this thread carefully, but I don't see any comments on the reason she said what she said. She said it because so many acceptance speeches include the ludicrous and really gross "thank yous" to "the Lord","Jesus", "God, without whom I could not have done what I have done to win this piece of whatever" and so on which I find really dumb. She made something funny and vulgar out of that and that's OK.

And, of course, I think it is wrong to censor it from the broadcast, but totally predictable.

Just for you Danni...

In Heaven there is no beer
(No beer?!)
That's why we drink it here
And when we're all gone from here
Our friends will be drinking all the beer.

In Heaven there is no wine
(No wine?!)
So we drink till we feel fine
And when we leave this all behind
Our friends will be drinking all the wine.

In Heaven there is no fear
(No fear)
So we worry too much here
And we drink ourselves full of beer
To help us when we deal with the fear.

In Heaven there are no drugs
That's why we hang with thugs
And when the Lord pulls the plug
All the thugs will still be selling drugs, yeah.

In Heaven there is no sex
(Oh no!)
So let's do that next
And when our muscles no longer flex
Someone else will be having sex.

In Heaven there are no wars
Or cars, or movie stars
And when we no longer are
The world will probably still be having wars.

What the heck! Yeah!

Y.M.C.A.

the sad thing is that many chistians do not even attempt to live in honor or obtain happiness for their families, they live miserable lives then wait for "heaven" for all eternity and don't know how stupid that is. ask them "what job will you have in heaven" and they are totally lost. will you be a foreman, a president, a baker, an enjoyer of virgins. what? Santa is a much better belief, he doesn't go around always smiting people like god does. look at all the innocent children god killed in the flood. did Noah hear those screams or did his evil god give him earplugs.

being afraid of death is normal, beliving you live forever is stupid.

Offended is a strong word, but I do feel sad for humanity, that we still need to embrace our darker history instead of shedding our silly superstitions.

I ask again takeitez, what is your opinion of Vishnu? How about Amaterasu?

BigJohn? says, "Offended is a strong word, but I do feel sad for humanity, that we still need to embrace our darker history instead of shedding our silly superstitions."

Religion has a common ground, the subjugation of the ego, to see beyond the fight-or-flight response dictated by that entity, and which is fragile, finite, gone at the end of senses.

Your humanism, such as it is, offers no hope of any existence beyond ego death, that end of senses. So, you console yourself (general self) in satisfaction of ego; e.g., sexual gratifacation, gluttony, avarice, envy, jealousy, hatred, etc.

What faith is there in being sexually gratified by being inseminated in your colon? Or, supporting that sensory dead-end (pejorative pun DEFINITELY intented). What personal epiphany can you see in that frictional fracus?

TKEZ,

Your logic eludes me. The favorite defense by Righties everywhere is two wrongs make a right. Your answer is similar. It is very HUMAN to seek revenge and very GODLIKE not to. Gandhi, Mandela, and John Paul II are GODLIKE, but the biblical GOD certainly isn't. He is a vengeful asshole. His behavior mimics Shrub, Osama (man as an animal). Its almost as if the Bible was written by people with HUMAN emotions. Imagine that.

Danni, when you make your claim, people can detect your dubiousness a hundred miles away. Because you have no idea what heaven is like.

For now and for a while, you may be able to frolic in your spiritual ignorance and arrogance; but when your time to get old and die physically comes, you will be ushered into a spirit world where there is no exit. Then you can take your sweet time regretting for eternity.

Before you do that I suggest that you watch a very good episode of the Twilight Zone with Sebastian Cabot. The episode was called, "A Nice Place to Visit." The ending had the classic Rod Serling ironic twist.

Here is a summary that I found on the net.

While trying to rob a pawnshop, burglar Rocky Valentine kills a night watchman and then shoots a policeman... only to be shot himself by another while fleeing the scene. Rocky revives to find himself unhurt--and in the company of a seemingly good-natured, robust gentleman named Pip. The white-haired Pip explains that he is Valentine's guide, and that he has been instructed to give Rocky anything and everything he wants. Valentine assumes he must be in Heaven, and that Pip must be his guardian angel. But everything proves to be too good, with Rocky always winning at the casino, always getting any and every girl he wants. After a month, this becomes so stifling that Valentine begs Pip to send him to "the Other Place." Pip gleefully confirms Rocky's worst suspicion: "This is the other place!"

Cheers

Well at least someone almost sort of touched upon the other religions, though I did ask takeitez, and predictably I get no response.

Faith is an emotion, and 'my humanism' does not need to satisfy itself with 'ego' as you use the term. If you use the term as Freud does the "ego" (mostly conscious) deals with external reality. So yes, the external reality is very important to the reality based groups amongst us, not the nonsensical silly superstitions we humans create for ourselves.

That is why takeitez would not want to think to much about Vishnu or other 'gods', because then he/she would realize that people are quite capable of believing superstitious nonsense in other gods, so what makes his/hers real.

Leave it to the illiterati (aka drudgies).

You blew it! Right off the first pitch! I ANSWERED DUMMY!

"Faith is an emotion, and 'my humanism' does not need to satisfy itself with 'ego' as you use the term."

Partisan political ambition is an emotion you use to try to enforce your political will upon others. You do not attempt to use moral or principal to determine your ultimate goals ... instead you use partisan political upmanship to determine life-and-death issues that effect ALL Americans, and not just your party of subversives trying to force defeat on the USA.

"If you use the term as Freud does the "ego" (mostly conscious) deals with external reality. So yes, the external reality is very important to the reality based groups amongst us, not the nonsensical silly superstitions we humans create for ourselves."

Unreal! That *reality* is faced with the effort to establish Islam as the moderator of society and that they will enforce the rules of conduct for the people. You support that theocratic effort to control all human behavior by religious dictate!

.........you are like the Pravda of Republicans.....

(September 11, 2007) -- WASHINGTON -- Rep. Jim Walsh, in a dramatic break with the White House, returned Monday from a trip to Iraq saying it's time to bring troops home and stop funding the war.

The moderate Republican from Onondaga has struggled for months with conflicting emotions about the war.

"Before I went, I was not prepared to say it's time to start bringing our troops home," Walsh said. "I am prepared to say that now. It's time."

Walsh's announcement came as Gen. David Petraeus, the U.S. commander in Iraq, told House members that the troop "surge" has made progress.

But Walsh said he saw little evidence that much has changed in Iraq since he last visited four years ago. He said he hopes to meet with President Bush to convey his change of heart.

No, I'm your victim to sacrifice on the altar of Democratic rule and support for Islamic hegemony.

I want to defeat human sacrifice for religious domination, while you want to support that philosophy to win a victory over your temporal enemy: your fellow Americans.

If you win, so does your gang of humanist, collectivist welfare dependents, and along with human sacrifice to enforce the rule of one religion uber alles ...

What a bunch of dickless cowards the Democratic party has become ...

Except for you Danni, nature is at fault for your handicap. ...

TADOWE says "You are one of the ilk, interested in providing yourselfves with free medical care, free subsistance, free living and freedom from moral scorn and criticism."

Strange, that's what all the republican senators & republican congressmen get. No crys from TADOWE to stop that. (we pay for it)

But they and TADOWE don't know that nothing is free, someone has to pay, really dumb those righties, huh? they say "in my club it's free but not in your club" I guess they deserve all that free stuff maybe that's why TADOWE don't complaim.

You mean this Jim Walsh:

"Though I opposed the President's surge plan earlier this year, I did see firsthand unmistakable proof that the influx of American troops in Baghdad
has been successful from a military standpoint, as General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker reported today."

So polling shows him if he wants to be reelected in New York he has to sell out the troops in spite of all the evidence of real progress he saw first hand.

So 'scum sucking traitor' seems pretty reasonable.

Onna bluffs, " No crys from TADOWE to stop that. (we pay for it)"

I like to notice, having some experience in this sort of debate, that you are a typical dupe, although in reality you think of yourself as a stooge for party over nation (something Rogers is becoming a bit suspicious about engendering). From that, I can tell that the following will. ... well, ... follow:

"But they and TADOWE don't know that nothing is free, someone has to pay, really dumb those righties, huh? they say "in my club it's free but not in your club" I guess they deserve all that free stuff maybe that's why TADOWE don't complaim."

Onna (nice femanim pick, hon) says, "it's official, only republicans allowed the free stuff per TADOWE, what an idiot!"

I would normally thank you, but Rogers has been cringing all day with comments like yours. You dummies don't seem capable of following direction when faced with any sort of reasoned contradiction to your hysterical repetitions of democraic dogma.

(Why they don't hire me ... I will never understand)

"BUZZ WORDS AND BULL PUPU, that's all TADOWE knows. trying to sound intelligent but showing full blown ignorance. atta way TADOWE."

I started out being told that I was a dummy. That if I couldn't write certain letters in the correct direction, then I was stupid, a moron ... nothing but a cretin to vilify and dehumanize.

I got used to it.

Now, I've corrected my dyslexia, and can even write with my left hand, backwards ... in cursive ...

... but I'm still a moron, an idiot that supports the rightwing and conservatism ...

No wonder I consider you, and each of you, to be a tyrant, a petty dictator whining and puling in your fear and cowardice ... unsure of your own intelligence in the face of your bigottry, blinded by your defensive shield of scorn and pride that will assure your fall ...

Although I despise your elitist hypocrisy, I pity your abysmal stupidity ...

How's that traitors?

TADOWE said "party over nation", what a stupid thing to say. There were seven of us, seven brothers and each and every one served our nation in the armed forces. 3 Marines, 2 Army and 2 Navy. 3 survived in good health, 2 were handicapped, 1 died. What about you and your "nation first" people, did you serve?.

You are am imbecile, all you got is bluster and buzz words.

(Listen, hon, you are way out of your league)

Onna quotes out of context, "TADOWE said "party over nation" ..."

And, Onna replies: "what a stupid thing to say. There were seven of us, seven brothers and each and every one served our nation in the armed forces. 3 Marines, 2 Army and 2 Navy. 3 survived in good health, 2 were handicapped, 1 died. What about you and your "nation first" people, did you serve?."

I volunteered for the Army in 1960. I serverd 3 years as a laboratory technician. Then, I volunteered to serve in the ASA and went to Japan. Then I went to OCS and became an officer and served in Vietnam, then Thailand and then layed-off of my career by a Democratic Congress intent on losing in Vietname to communist aggression, repression and genocide.

Now, I'm mortally disgusted with the selfishness and partisan idiocy which causes an American party and its members to subvert the success of a war your own neighbors are fighting, in order to win some votes for your party ...

Really, what kind of traitors has your party become ... made of you ...?

what and where is Punchbowl, TADOWE wont know, I go when I can to visit and honor my brother. There are many brave people there, that's something a coward like TADOWE wouldn't understand. Next time he shouts "traitors" he should be looking in a mirror, The USA is the home of the brave, TADOWE should leave. His "traitor" rantings dishonor those buried in Punchbowl.

"Thanks for making my point."

Um, sure. If that makes you feel better about yourself.

Ms. Griffins smiled and nodded at the end of her acceptance speech as she held her new Emmy up high for the audience to see when barely two seconds later a lightening bolt came tearing thru the ceiling seemingly out of nowhere and split open her skull right there on the stage. Witnesses said no unusual weather had been predicted for the evening and all were puzzled as to the strange weather occurrence and the demise of Ms. Griffin.

Sorry everybody, I get frustrated at idiots like TADOWE, he tells people "your party" without even knowing which party they are, he calls people traitors not knowing their background, he knows very little of American Histoy. Which political party protested our getting into WW2 to fight Hitler, hint it wasn't Democrats. Which president initiated the Vietnam war against communism, hint it wasn't republican, which president pulled us out of Vietnam, hint it wasn't a Democrat. Our armed forces should be honored and not have to hear you referring to them as traitors. yes, many are democrats. You are a divisive idiot trying to act like a patriot, many of us resent people like you. You do not know my view of the war or what party I'm in ,yet you make snide remarks as if you knew. Stupid, really stupid.

Don't let TADOWE make you frustrated, ONNA, just be glad you are not him. He is old and troubled beyond help.

TADOWE is an institution on DR.
I find him amusing -- in an odd sort of way.

Sitdown gives good advice, "Don't let TADOWE make you frustrated, ONNA, just be glad you are not him. He is old and troubled beyond help."

He's right, Onna. I became convinced by the lies of JFK, and joined the Army in the hopes that I coudl serve my country as John had served it. I dedicated my life to be a soldier ... not a lawyer, doctor, dentist or MBA ... a martial artist for country overy ego and personal ambition.

I suppose that modern Democratics consider John a fool, an idiot of a patriot, someone who lowered taxes (the traitor) and defended the 2d Amendment, even (what a rightwing pig!) and dedicated his presidency to fighting terrorism and fascist aggression by communist tyrants ...

Now, things have turned around 180 degrees ... John is a fascist patriot and Kerry is a diplomat who coordinated the failure of the USA in Vietnam ... the fascists were allowed to win ... since Kennedy was an old curmudgeon, a virtual traitor to the USA in fighting communism ...

I capitulate! You socialists win -- Terrorism wins at your urging ... your brothers ... your fathers ... your relatives died to enable Leftist/Democratic traitors to lose a war to terrorists ... f'ing goatherding, woman hating cavemen ...

Brava! Your party of terrorist supporters win ... I quit ...

(in a your personal pig's eye ...)

where are those terrorists you wish to fight, I don't know a single American that doesn't want to combat terrorism, not one. What army are we fighting in Iraq? What are we doing there? What are we doing about Bin Laden or Pakistan. Why are we not finishing the job in Afghanistan? You seem to have simple answers, maybe you should have read those books (or any book).

so long as she doesnt crap out and apologize...

besides since when do religious types get to have a monopoly on "vulgar, in your face hate speech"?

She's sick. I'll bet she earned a first class ticket on the down elevator with that one.

Tadpole,

I read your post but nothing is ever said. Around and around you go without ever leaving the starting line.

All double talking bully bantering saying absolutely nothing.

"Thanks for making my point."

Um, sure. If that makes you feel better about yourself.

No, it doesn't really do that for me. I was just showing how your own words made my point.

Thanks again.

Could you imagine a woman in the Middle East getting a public award saying he same thing? Or, worse, replacing the name Jesus with that of All@h or M0hamm@d? Wonder what will happen when Kathy decides to say the same thing using either of the last two names?

Please people. I would guess she wasn't seriously insulting your god. Maybe after years and years of working in tv, finally getting an emmy would cause a COMEDIAN to say the line she did. "This is my god now."

Now I'm no huge Kathy Griffin fan, as I'm not of anyone who insults people for a living, but that's a funny line. And if God exists, I think She knows KG was having some fun.

To any religious types who have been offended- nobody died in 'god's name' here. You better be about a billion times more offended at the amount of people who have died in the past 4 years because of our 'born again' president.

"Could you imagine a woman in the Middle East getting a public award saying he same thing?"

So is that our current standard of freedom? Comparing us to the Middle East?

So is that our current standard of freedom? Comparing us to the Middle East?

further proof that if you give a primate a keyboard, they'll eventually type a few words...

Unreal! That *reality* is faced with the effort to establish Islam as the moderator of society and that they will enforce the rules of conduct for the people. You support that theocratic effort to control all human behavior by religious dictate!

Tadowe, you really do have a hard time comprehending what people write, don't you? In case you didn't know, and aren't comprehending this, let me answer for you, you do have a hard time.

I specifically wrote that at least someone responded, but not the person I had directed the question to. Then you proceed to tell me that that you responded and called me a dummy! lol Did I say you didn't? Are you retarded?

Then you go on a blow hard rant that has nothing to do with anything I said, and you assumed positions I have which I do not, and then finished it off with more nonsense.

You need to take some ADD meds, and/or concentrate much harder on what is actually being discussed and actually being said.

Kathy Griffin has jumped the shark. She is a Hollywood insider, still trying to pass herself as an outsider.

My wife and I have watched and enjoyed her for a number of years. Her old standup stuff, and the first season of her D-List show were great. But we saw her do a show live this summer, and she SUCKED. She's lost the edge, and has turned into a one-trick pony.

Between rants like a drunken tailgater about "F*ck him", "F*ck her", "F*ck him", we had to listen to an endless series of:

"I met this famous person X and this is how I perceived them not admitting my worth".
"I met this famous person Y and this is how I perceived them not admitting my worth".
"I met this famous person Z and this is how I perceived them not admitting my worth".

etc....

Boring and I think it's over. She needs to join Britney on the couch.

"Sully

I am intolerant of intolerance. Religious people are the most intolerant of all."

Depending on your definition of "religious people", you are talking about anywhere between tens of millions to billions of people.

Any sweeping generalization made about that many people is bigoted nonsense.

You know what they say about people who live in glass houses, Bob.

I am intolerant of intolerance. Religious people are the most intolerant of all.

"Depending on your definition of "religious people", you are talking about anywhere between tens of millions to billions of people."

I would accept the billions number as being realistic

"Any sweeping generalization made about that many people is bigoted nonsense."

Call it what you like. I stand by my statement. Religion is the canceer of mankind. I think all cancer cells are bad.

"You know what they say about people who live in glass houses, Bob."

Yes I do. People who live in glass houses have killed far fewer people than the murderous people who worship gods of various names.

Having said that, let it be known that I support your right to worship whatever evil entity your church supports. All churches support evil entities. I absolutely support your right to be a cancer cell. Don't you just love absolutes?

Exactly, Demoncrat is not a liberal. You make ignorant suppositions. "Call it a guess". Call it wrong. All religions are based on the same myth which is based on the sun. Religion is responsible for the greater part of fear, violence, and repression throughout history. My stating that your religions should be destroyed was interpreted by you in the only way you know how, as a violent threat. Religion can only be ultimately destroyed with information and enlightenment. "Call it a guess" is perfect proof of the whole basis of belief in any god. It is all based on ignorance. There is no proof or any witness to the existence of Jesus. There were historians around the time of Jesus, none of them wrote of his miracles. Your beliefs are all based on lies, and you don't question them. You are ignorant. PS. Jesus sucks.

I'd like to exile both Coulter and Griffin on a one-way rocket to the moon.

My stating that your religions should be destroyed was interpreted by you in the only way you know how, as a violent threat.

hmm. i could've sworn you said:

All people who believe in these imaginary gods should be destroyed.

and another thing.

You make ignorant suppositions....Your beliefs are all based on lies, and you don't question them. You are ignorant.

i never once revealed my beliefs. who's the one making suppositions?

All people who believe in imaginary gods should not be destroyed. They are destroying themselves and taking the rest of us with them. Religion is the cancer of mankind. We will not survive it. The cure is education, but the supply is too low and being attacked by the religious among us as we speak.

There is no proof or any witness to the existence of Jesus. There were historians around the time of Jesus, none of them wrote of his miracles. Your beliefs are all based on lies, and you don't question them. You are ignorant. PS. Jesus sucks.----Demoncrat

Do you believe Paul walked on this Earth? Is he make believe also. What about Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, and so on. Are all those make believe people. They wrote about Jesus. They all, yes even Paul, met with and talked to Jesus. Is the whole Bible a lie and all a myth?

Buffy "The cure is education,", who would you say is educated, if anyone? I would like to hear 10 of your top educated people, ever.

"Is the whole Bible a lie and all a myth?"

Well, when you start with four proveable lies in your first chapter (Adam & Eve, bats are birds, hares chew their cud, the moon is a light), go on to incestuous, murderous ancestors (Cain married his sister after killing his brother), and dovetail to mathmatical impossibilities (Noah's Ark), it's probably all downhill from there.

Most of main-stream do not wear Jesus on thier sleeve, but have some religious belief to some degree. If she is this stupid, she belongs on the "F" list in more ways than one. Not Funny.
Not Smart. And now for sure, never on the A-B-C-D list again.

"Having said that, let it be known that I support your right to worship whatever evil entity your church supports. All churches support evil entities. I absolutely support your right to be a cancer cell. Don't you just love absolutes?"

I haven't stepped foot in a church, except for weddings and funerals, in years and I haven't "worshipped" anyone in longer than that.

Why I am not surprised at yet another foolish and inaccurate statement on your part?

And for someone who seemed genuinely annoyed, if not hurt, when 101 told you to kill yourself, you sure throw around your petty little "cancer cell" accusations pretty freely.

Having said that, let it be known that I support your right to worship whatever evil entity your church supports. All churches support evil entities. I absolutely support your right to be a cancer cell. Don't you just love absolutes?

"I haven't stepped foot in a church, except for weddings and funerals, in years and I haven't "worshipped" anyone in longer than that."

So??? I still support your right to do as you wish as far as religion goes.

"Why I am not surprised at yet another foolish and inaccurate statement on your part?"

I have said nothing innaccurate. I've merely stated my point of view.

"And for someone who seemed genuinely annoyed, if not hurt, when 101 told you to kill yourself, you sure throw around your petty little "cancer cell" accusations pretty freely."

I think your perceptions are flawed. Nothing 101 could say to me about killing myself would have any efect on me at all. His opinion matters zero to me. My view is that religious people are evil---more evil than most since they think they are doing good.

Can I have my opinion or do I have to conform to yours?

"My view is that religious people are evil---more evil than most since they think they are doing good.

Can I have my opinion or do I have to conform to yours?"

You obviously do. I find it hillarious that you'd try to paint me as intolerant of other's opinions when you're the one calling billions of people "evil" for believing something you don't.
That not only makes you a bigot, but an extremely arrogant one at that.

Well I don't think all religious people are evil, I think there are plenty of good hearted kind religious people out there.

****** Do you believe Paul walked on this Earth? Is he make believe also. What about Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, and so on. Are all those make believe people. They wrote about Jesus. They all, yes even Paul, met with and talked to Jesus. Is the whole Bible a lie and all a myth?

............think again...think clearly....the truth will dawn on you eventually...........just as it did for Mother Theresa......

Sully

I don't think I was trying to paint you as anything. All I said was I support your right to worship as you please.

I don't think religious people are evil because they believe something I don't. I believe religious people are evil because I have read about the history religion over the past 5000 years. Lots of dead people. Lots of murders. Lots of torture. Lots of wars. Lots of evil.

Ski, Demon said "There is no proof or any witness to the existence of Jesus." I think I would go to the source to answer that.

Phin,

yes even Paul, met with and talked to Jesus.

I hate to tell you this but this is a lie. Paul never ever met or even seen Jesus so what kind of lies are you pushing.

It would seem you rite tite Christian types don't have a problem telling and pushing lies for your cause, but scream when people start to push back about those fabrications.

Stick with what you know, and history of Paul is not one of them.

"There is no proof or any witness to the existence of Jesus."

"I think I would go to the source to answer that. Posted by phinphan"

Ah, therein lies the conundrum.

"I believe religious people are evil because I have read about the history religion over the past 5000 years. Lots of dead people. Lots of murders. Lots of torture. Lots of wars. Lots of evil."

Yes, but there are plenty of religious people who had nothing to do with any of that and plenty who lived selfless lives dedicated to helping others. That you put them all into the same category makes you a bigot.

And all those wars you read about were almost always about the ambitions of ego-maniac leaders. They've used plenty of other justifications for their wars aside from religion over the years. I'd think such an astute observer of history would have realized as much.

Acts 9:1-6

Well, there was the passage in the Jewish historian Josephus' "Testimonium Flavianum" concerning Jesus, but that is considered somewhat controversial, and perhaps altered later in translation.

It pretty much comes down to either you believe, or you don't.

Acts 9:1-6

huh!!! What play are you talking about? Hamlet!

"Acts 9:1-6

That was the spirit of Jesus, not the physical man - and I think that's what they're getting at.

I don't think you're going to convince any non-believer of the reality of Jesus by quoting a few Bible passages.

Call it what you like. I stand by my statement. Religion is the canceer of mankind. I think all cancer cells are bad.

Right on Bob.

Religion is nothing short of mind control through fear of the unknown. Manipulation at its finest. You have all of these ignorant religious zionist christians sitting around waiting on the rapture, while their country is being dismantled in front of their eyes. All of them waiting on God to come and get them, doing nothing to stop the madness all around them constantly.

Here's a link, if you have the time (1:58min) give it a view if you haven't seen it.

The first 5min or so is visual/music, then the movie kicks in, and it speaks about religion.

The religious people who had nothing to do with the killing---supported those that did. No one has ever led a selfless live, or in fact, no one on this planet in the history of mankind has ever committed a selfless act. All acts are selfish.

"And all those wars you read about were almost always about the ambitions of ego-maniac leaders."

So? Religion was their tool---their followers killed because of religion. What is your point?

"They've used plenty of other justifications for their wars aside from religion over the years. I'd think such an astute observer of history would have realized as much."

Sure there were other reasons thrown in from time to time--but without religion, most wars wouldn't have been fought. How many suicide bombers would there be without 72 virgins waiting in heaven? Giving up this life for an eternity of bliss has long been a tool of religion. How many would have lived if there weren't Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland? How many references do you need?

"The religious people who had nothing to do with the killing---supported those that did."

You are speaking in nonsensical, absolute terms and I'm not getting into a "Yes the did", "No they didn't" circular arguement with you.

Be a hopeless, ignorant bigot all you want.

The wars are fought over land in the name of religion.

Look at the current example, Iraq. It is fought over LAND.

The mask of Bush just used islam/muslim as the excuse to invade. The Christians fall lock step with getting rid of the other religion.

Thousands of times we see the posts on this site about the evil muslims and their terrorist activity. Convenient that we are attacking for democracy and they are attacking because of religion.

Be a hopeless, ignorant bigot all you want.

Thank you for your permission---you have my permission to do the same.

without religion, most wars wouldn't have been fought.

sure they would have, but for different reasons. that's like saying money is evil. guns are evil. cars are evil. rock and roll is evil.

here's a revolutionary idea: people are evil.

perhaps the word evil is even too simplistic, but i don't care at the moment. i'm done making evil money for the day. i'm gonna go get in my evil car and go home and watch evil tv for an hour or so. perhaps i'll tune into evil fox news and listen to evil bill o'reilly talk about the evil democrats.

Well, rock and roll is evil ;)

Hey folks - this thread is supposed to be about Kathy Griffin. The above post said it best. "Jumped the shark" LOL

So, the idea that you can act nasty and still claim moral superiority is NOT limited to the religous, it seems.

Since when is what she said hate speech? She wasn't saying anything offensive - unless you think Jesus gives a damn about who gets an Emmy. Whah! Someone said that they are going to worship an Emmy! Whah! They said their award was the result of their own work rather than some invisible bearded ponce.

Personally, I love her show. I think it's brilliant. It's too bad she has to do it in a country that whimpers and prostrates itself in front of over-organized religion. Keep going, Kathy! And don't let up on those hypocritical Catholics!

As for the Catholic League, let's see what their president had to say about their ongoing sex abuse scandal.

"It is the belief of the Catholic League that no meaningful conversation can take place on this issue without having some baseline data regarding the incidence of abuse that occurs outside the Catholic Church.

William A. Donohue, Ph.D.
President"

Uh-huh. Let's ignore the problem until we can find out how many children in other religions are being abused.

Prick.

Apparently, Jesus isn't his god, either. At least Griffin has the guts to realize it and state it in public rather than follow that good old Christian tradition of plugging their ears and humming real loud.

Actually, Paul never met Jesus. Nor did Luke.

"How many children in other religions are being abused...."

Now, that's an interesting idea. Let's do that. Break down the stats. But be sure to include atheists and agnostics as one more group being studied.

I'd be interested in that as well. We know that atheists are less likely to be criminals, less likely to go to jail. Would that break across into other groups, like less likely to molest, less likely to abuse their children?

The problem as I see it would be people lying about being atheists or agnostics. You know, the way some religous people lie about being religous.

But, hey---If you lie about being religous, doesn't that make you an atheist or an agnostic (along with hypocrite)? We might get some astounding statistical extrapolations here.

If you commit a crime as an atheist, but then find Jesus once you're caught, what stat group should we place you in for purposes of analysis?

It's interesting the number of atheists I've met that insist Hitler was a Christian. Seems the idea of a mass murderer being else but religous strikes them the wrong way

Now, Hitler's attitude towards religion was interesting, but the bottom line he was no beleiver, and certainly no sort of Christian.

More to the point for the purposes of this thread---Hitler encouraged his followers to lie about church membership and faith status---For the advantages he thought he could manipulate in this life thereby.

To be fair, Jesus probably would of been fine sucking on the award. He was black, he was jewish, he was all about holy trinity's, so why not take the third maligned minority on board and enjoy a healthy interest in all things phallic?

I reckon he'd have been pro.

Why the fuck are people giving Kathy Griffin such a hard time here?

She rightfully and humourously pointed out the ludicrousness of folk thanking their invisible friend in acceptance speechs.

She not even the first to do so. Just the first to do so while actually getting one of these lamoid awards.

The subsequent actions of the network in censoring the speech and reprehensible asswipes like the CL's Donohue condeming it are far more worthy of contempt and disparagement.

KG is a funny gal.

Joke you if ya can't take a fuck, eh?

Be Well.

I guess she missed the commandment about worshipping pegan idols.

Someone was right up there--it wasn't even funny--

And did anyone hear of the historian Josephus?

How about how many children are being abused by teachers in school?

Yes, but those who are caught and known go to jail while those Christian priest just get hidden within the church never to face the punishment of such sinful acts.

Everytime a new priest shows up at my folks church, I wonder, did this guy sin with other peoples children.

kathy will always be a part of the "d" list.

damned.

in the same tune - i don't believe those who thank the Lord at these self-aggrandizing awards shows are being entirely sincere. the true testimony is in how someone lives, not in what they say out loud so millions can hear them.

once again, she should be thankful she can say such things without fear of retribution or imprisonment.
