More than 2,000 Iraqis were questioned in all 18 provinces
About 70% of Iraqis believe security has deteriorated in the area covered by the US military "surge" of the past six months, an opinion poll suggests.

The survey by the BBC, ABC News and NHK of more than 2,000 people across Iraq also suggests that nearly 60% see attacks on US-led forces as justified.

This rises to 93% among Sunni Muslims compared to 50% for Shia.

These are the folks we're supposed to keep spending our young people's blood for? These are the folks that deserve billions of dollars a month of our tax dollars spent for?

Whatever other similarities there may or may not be to Vietnam, this is one thing that really matters - when you don't have the local populace on your side, you're in trouble.

"Surge failed..."

No it hasn't. You're just not thinking about it right.

Who the hell are these "Iraqi's" and how could they possibly tell if the surge is working or not. I mean it's not like they live there and could tell could they?

The surge is too small if you ask me, we need 250,000 troops over there so we aren't playing wack a mole.

Of course, on another thread, Last American labeled the BBC, ABC, and NHK (Japan) as "America Haters". Of course, it appears here that the real America haters are actually . . .

. . . the Iraqis.

PS: Aren't we arming and partnering with the Sunnis? I sure do hope we are working with the right 7%!
