Authorities were searching for two black-clad men wearing masks who robbed an armored truck and got away with $1 million in an apparently well-designed holdup.

Not for Taxman, one of those two guys WAS Taxman.

FF for you CC

"two men in black wearing masks approached him and demanded money. They were carrying what appeared to be semiautomatic rifles.

The guard "ran down the street to a nearby business and called 911," according to a Dallas police report."

Yeah, right!

More like, "Hey, can I help you load that money?"

I was hoping for a good heist story. This doesn't seem so "well designed" to me. Well planned, maybe, but it was no "Italian Job"

Were they NJ Democrats?

On topic, I've always considered the robbery of an armored car to be foolish because I figured the guards all had guns, along with a button or some other way to alert the authorities.

However, in this case, it looks like it was easier than I thought:

"The guard "ran down the street to a nearby business and called 911"

Why didnt' he shoot them? It says only one of the two guards had a gun. Why?

"A second guard, who was driving the armored car, said he could not see what was happening behind the truck...When the guards returned, the suspects and the money that was being loaded on the cart were gone"

Why did both of the guards end up leaving the vehicle? Christ, I might hit one of these things on my way home from work.

Why didn't these guards who probably make $10/hr. attack these guys and risk their lives for the Loomis company's money?? Cowards.

This was an inside job.

Either that or their security procedures are woefully inadequate.

I walked past an open armored car in front of a bank in Cincy once and a guard on the sidewalk ten feet from the car immediately drew down on me with a 12 gauge.

These guys had to be really slack to let this happen.

I have thought about it and really, I don't give a crap if these guys get away or not as long as they didn't shoot anyone. Worst things happen every single day that don't even get into the local paper.

Why didn't these guards who probably make $10/hr. attack these guys

Some of the guys I've known who work jobs like these are itching for a good gunfight. They fantasize about legally blowing some bastard away.

Why didnt' he shoot them? It says only one of the two guards had a gun. Why?

I think it'd be illegal. You can only shoot someone if your or another's life is in danger. If the perps are running away from you, your life is not in danger -- unless they are shooting at you while they are running, of course. I don't think you can kill a man to protect property.

I wonder if they were some of the Porr refugees from New Orleans, who go tired of waiting for their government handout and decided to take matters into their own hands

Hey, they didn't cut off anyones head.

Americans Rule!

If someone is trying to take the stuff I worked for because he doesn't want to work for his own stuff. You better believe he is gonna take a bullet or two for his "trouble"

I'm sure there is some way - absent any additional information - you can fashion this into a racist/political tirade to your liking.

this happened in texas, so yes you can shoot someone who is getting away with property. this law dates back to the days when texas was a frontier. "an armed society is a polite society"

In Pa most laws benefit the criminal. It's murder if you shot someone unless he is directly threatening you with severe bodily harm.

In a confrontation of armed criminals versus armored car guards, you can be pretty sure the DA and the judge will give the benefit of the doubt to the guards, in any state.

I just watched Heat the other night.
Much cooler way to rob an armored truck.
