As soon as 9-11 happened we attacked Afghanistan -- presumably to get bin Ladin, the mastermind of 9-11, and crush the al Qaeda training camps.

However, as soon as our bombing was done and Bush hand-picked former UNOCAL OIL company consultant Hamid Karzai as President of Afghanistan, Karzai's VERY FIRST ACT IN OFFICE was to sign the full rights to the oil pipeline going thru Afghanistan over to Bush's oil boys.

The second that oil pipeline was signed over by Bush boy Karzai, Bush all of the sudden could care less about locating bin Ladin anymore. In only March 2002 -- just 8 months after 9-11 -- Bush said in a press conference that he doesn't really even think about bin Ladin that much anymore. Now why would that be?

When the WTC was first built most NYers hated the whole thing. I did. These two huge book ends sitting atop everything in lower Manhattan and casting this enormous shadow up 6th Ave. It sucked and aesthetically it was nowhere.

But after more then 25 years, the WTC became part of NYC and for the generation that had grown up with these buildings always being there, this WAS lower Manhattan.

Thousands of people had parties there at the "Windows On The World". Weddings, confirmations, bar mitzvahs, silver and golden anniversaries, engagements, sweet sixteens etc. My own wedding after party took place there there and my sister and I threw my parents a silver anniversary years later.

Everyone died who was working in Windows On The World that morning on 9/11.

It was fucking horrific and something I couldn't forget if I tried.

I remember being in Windows on the World having breakfast with my kids years ago one Christmas. I recognized a few of the pictures from 9/11.
I recall thinking how easy it would be to fly an airplane into the building. Too bad no one could have imagined such a thing.

There was a Matisse exhibit and A Secret Garden was on Broadway.

The link you provide is dated Oct 30, 2004, not 2006.

The link to the 2004 video is the one most people refer to when saying Osama confessed. However, as noted, this was 2004, the Friday before the next election of the President of the United States. It was also 3 years after the event. Osama had those three years to evaluate the results of the attack on his organization and saw recruitment was up, fear of Al Qaeda was up, his credibility was up. All motivations for confessing to the crime. In addition, I think a good lawyer could get it thrown out anyway. If Osama really had done it, it could be argued that like most terrorist attacks, the organization takes credit for the attacks within days, not three years later.

From what I've see so far, I don't see him admitting any direct involvement. What I see is a reading into what is not there. And in some cases, some creative misinterpreting.

I don't get worked up about whether or whether or not bin Laden masterminded the plot. It doesn't matter anymore. He's been turned into a hero among his people and I'm sure he likes the notoriety.

It does bother me that the timing was perfect from Bush's point of view, but we can't prove some US covert operation pulled it off. But then again, it works out from bin Laden's point of view. bin Laden will never be brought to trial. He made the tape in 2004 to influence the elections to help Bush to get elected. He knew Bush would never catch him. Confessing in 2006 means nothing--it could easily be thrown out by any competent lawyer. If Osama were ever to be captured, there is not enough evidence to convict.
