I don't know much about the pathology that drives people to solicit anonymous sex in public places, but I suspect that if Sen. Craig is guilty of this, it's caused in large part by his rejection of his orientation.

If he had been open about his sexuality, instead of rejecting it and building a career as a public moralist, he might not have endangered his career (and his health) by looking for degrading sex at airport and train station bathrooms.

Until Monday, the Statesman had declined to run a story about Craig's sex life, because the paper didn't have enough corroborating evidence and because of the senator's steadfast denial.


Do you suggest that newspapers investigate everyone's sex lives and report on them? Should papers run stories based on rumors? I'm sure they can find plenty of things written about you on this blog, perhaps you think they should write about those rumors?

I'm not sure of all the intricacies of the American political system. As a senator would he have voted on President Clinton's impeachment? Would there be a record of his vote?

That would be the thing I would be interested to hear. As for people having sex in airports, I don't think that's anything new. The series 6 Feet Under even starts with a couple having sex in an airport. Still, I'm always amazed that the police use their resources to stop consenting adults from copulating. Personally I think they have better things to do but the USA is a bit on the evangelical side when it comes to sex, drugs and rock and roll. Sort of like the Taliban West - but I'm digressing.
