Wildfires Threaten Olympic Ruins in Greece

Those uncontrolled fires could ruin those ruins and reduce them to ruins.

A grease fire?

the first time I went to Greece I was a little kid... maybe 4... when we were visiting all these sites I picked up what I thought was a rock, and was quickly grabbed by a security guard... turned out to be part of the ruins and they are really touchy about taking those things. Didn't try that again a decade later when I returned... something tells me they would have been a little more forceful about their policies...

I hope they can get these fires put out soon and it doesn't damage the sites or open up the areas to looting and such in the chaos/aftermath... I would like to go back to the sites again... they are really quite amazing.

Hey, we had our Olympics in St. Louis, Atlanta, and LA, and if you visited those places you'd probably agree that our Olympic Ruins are more endangered than yours, raging fires or not...
