Maliki should spend more time talking to his Congress about passing that oil sharing bill, then worrying about what our Congress thinks of him.

Besides, Maliki can get Hillary to shut up real easy -- all he has to do is reconcile his government and show some leadership in steering Iraq through these growing pains of Democracy.

I'm sure Hillary is off in some corner-crying her heart out-just because "myleakyboat" hates her...

Anybody else smell desperation in the air?

Iraqi prime minister's isolation growing

By Leila Fadel, McClatchy Newspapers Sat Aug 25,

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki , harshly criticized by Washington politicians last week for failing to bring about reconciliation among Iraq's political and ethnic factions, is increasingly isolated among his own countrymen as well.

He has lost the Shiite Muslim power base that brought him to power. Analysts say his support among Kurds could easily vanish, too, if the Kurds receive the go-ahead from the Bush administration. Nearly half of his cabinet ministers have resigned their posts or are refusing to participate in cabinet meetings.

Many say he is on his last legs as prime minister.

"He has to resign," said Salim Abdullah , a leading member of the Iraqi Accordance Front , the Sunni alliance that officially withdrew its ministers from the government earlier this month. "We have nothing against Maliki as a person but there are reasons he failed. His advisors are yes men and he doesn't have the authority to do anything."

I understand the comments as everyone is frustrated with the inaction..
but if he is democratically elected and chavez is democratically elected but we are assholes for wanting his ouster regardless of freedoms he takes away or whatever he does.........anyone see the difference and what is it......

I would assume that its a fact that americans are dieing while malliki has his thumb up his ass and I can by that for sure......but I think it is much more because chavez hates bush as much as the left does here and thats a much better reason why we cant touch him but should push out the other......

oops forgot.

I think this is funny enough to put on here again..

what they needed was thomas jefferson
and what they got was

ray negin..

damn.....I think that is one REALLY funny line.........

Just who does this Al-Maliki guy think he is? The elected leader of Iraq or something? I don't even know if he was elected without looking it up. Clinton, Levin and all American politicians from the President on down are now facing the reality that there is NO good solution to the disaster that we have made in Iraq. Solutions and statements rooted in AMERICAN politics that essentially say that the Iraqis can go fuck themselves unless they do what we want them to are unlikely to work in IRAQ.

That's where we are now and that's where we put ourselves. Desperately looking for a way out or at least some level of disengagement with honor when those options no longer exist. If they ever did or could have. Meanwhile we've just built a massive American embassy, have 14(?) military bases scattered throughout the "country" and need their oil.

"but if he is democratically elected and chavez is democratically elected"

I don't much like Chavez either. But I think you've missed the key difference between him and Maliki.

Maliki's ineffectiveness and inability to get his government's act together is costing us Americans killed and/or wounded every day he is in office. Not to mention the billions of $$$$ every month.

"Maliki's ineffectiveness and inability to get his government's act together is costing us Americans killed and/or wounded every day he is in office."

Sorry, Bush's incompetence is what's getting Americans killed. Everybody assumes that just because we want reconciliation in Iraq (and a nice chunk of the oil), that's what the majority of Iraqis want. T'ain't so. The kurds and the shia get along very well and both hate the minority sunnis. WE are arming the sunni militias to placate King Paulaabdullah in Saudialquedia and to try and keep the shia down.
If, after we freed the concentration camp victims in Germany, and handed the running or Germany over to them, then said, "but you have to share power and wealth with the SS guards who were torturing you" how well do think that'd have worked.

Good for him.

Perhaps he needs to hire former President Cliton as a consultant. He is a mere $2 million dollars away from acceptance. Of course, if her chances of winning the white house increase, the fees that he may charge for his "consulting" may increase also.

Of course, it would have to be non-refundable. After all, the UAE paid 2 million for his "consulting" during the Ports deal. They would have gotten away with it if the public hadn't become so involved. Just think of all of the perks the Chinese have received as a result of his "consulting" on their behalf...

"Perhaps he needs to hire former President Cliton as a consultant."

And this is pertinent to the topic because....?

Or was the "thought" process more like: Gee I don't really know much about this topic, and don't really have anything to add to the discussion, but I just really, really want to post something.

******* Maliki Fires Back at Clinton, Levin ******

.....he better shut up or we'll bring democracy to Iraq.....AGAIN......

***** Maliki's ineffectiveness and inability to get his government's act together is costing us Americans killed and/or wounded every day he is in office. Not to mention the billions of $$$$ every month.

........same can be said of Bush.........

sa.....it was just another case of showing how big of a scumbag your 'man' clinton is and was......
if he was such a larger than history leader, I would think he could stand a lot more looking into.....the way the left looks into everything on the right.

and besides......its fun pointing out all of the crap that clintons get away with by libs......and even more fun reading your reactions.......yukyuk

San Antonio -

Let me explain it in small words. the UAE had a problem and needed to be liked so the ports deal would be approved. They paid Cliton (The person who is legally married to the Hildebeast) 2 million dollars for "influence". Most likely had the wheels not completely fallen of, the hildebeast - among others - would have been "influenced" and the deal would have gone through.

Now...Maliki has a problem and he needs to be liked by the American politicians. Do you see the pattern now?

One tiny difference BL is that we are occupying Iraq but not Venezuela. Our troops patrol the streets in Baghdad but not Curacas. Americans are dying because of delays in compromises that the Iraqi government needs to make, not true in Venezuela.
Does that help??

"Now...Maliki has a problem and he needs to be liked by the American politicians. Do you see the pattern now?"

No. It was an absurd response to the topic at hand. Period. Or perhaps the word deflection would be equally appropriate.

But I love seeing you resort to, and BL2 defend the "somebody else, somewhere, sometime, did something too, so that justifies our current behavior" classic dodge.

SA/DAnni....

dear dick and lick........(you be the judge).

ITS a joke dont get all pansified......

I believe that if you took the time to read my first post on the thread you will read that I understand the difference.....but the defense of chavez of being democratically elected doesnt make sense either, just not on the "deadly" scale of malliki.........am I explaining myslef clearly....
there arent american soldiers at risk there, but what of the future......and the things that he is doing in his country are things that we have fought and died for and it all seems to be okay there to take away free speach and to make him pres for life and all because he is "democratically elected"....
and those things are pretty important too....

and I really dont think its absurd for maliki to do a little PR with senators and such....of course it would be better if he did PR with his own parties first...........

and the clinton digs......come on....that shit WONT EVER END.....so get used to it and see it in the light that I Do.............its fun
its easy
its RIGHT
and he deserves every bit of it
a
and the most important......it really gets the left going.........

Deflection? Not at all. And I don't think the article discuses anything more than the war of words between Maliki and the Hildebeast (and some lesser known politicians). I am merely suggesting that the Hildebeast's criticism could be silenced or even reversed for a small donation or perhaps a "consulting fee". I can hear her now, "I actually opposed Maliki...before I praised him."

Then you are, respectfully, a naive fucking idiot.

Can't imagine why you would think that the Hildebeast cannot be bought....it is not like the party is guided by principles or values or anything like that.

So why do you think she is any different?

Can't imagine why you keep trying to hijack the thread and turn it into something completely different.

.......the Republican propaganda machine always turns to deflections ( the more Clintonesque, the better) when reason and rational discourse exposes what a fuck-up they made of their six years in power......

......they have stooges in Party basements passing themselves off as concerned citizen bloggers when really they are engaged in the lowest form of propaganda.......

The sorry-assed excuses for this mess will be as numerous as were the lies to justify this illegal invasion. Of course it's the puppet government's fault! Those poor dicks can't wipe their ass without u.s. approval and now the WH wants to blame them for their abject failure.

I love how imbeciles who voted to get us into this mess now want to blame Maliki. Don't get me wrong, he's probably not the sharpest tool in the shed - he took a job that is much more likely to end in his death than with any real rewards. But the pipe dream that Iraqis would go along with our program if only Maliki were more of a "leader" is nonsense.

Hmmm.

No mention by Maliki of Sen. Warner, who was not only seated next to Sen. Levin meeting with Maliki, but made a very public statement when he got home about sending Maliki a message?

Someone in the Green Zone must have gotten a call from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue not to mention him. Otherwise, why not?

Malicki "fires back".

I thought all Iraqis just dropped their weapons when confronted with anyone older than a 12 year old.

How long have we been training these wimps? Time to leave, but let's first leave them with an adequate supply of........
.diapers.

No, you're mistaking them for Republican chickenhawks. You may want to review the number of helicopters shot down and KIA before commenting.
