The CIA's top leaders failed to use their available powers, never developed a comprehensive plan to stop al-Qaida and missed crucial opportunities to thwart two hijackers in the run-up to Sept. 11, the agency's own watchdog concluded in a bruising report released Tuesday.

no surprise really ...

Key Quotes:

"U.S. spy agencies, which were overseen by Tenet, lacked a comprehensive strategic plan to counter Osama bin Laden prior to 9/11"

- Interesting that the lib Dems were going crazy over Tenet blaming everything on George Bush. Looks like Tenet was protesting too much! All eyes on him now.

"No comprehensive report focusing on bin Laden was written after 1993"

- After 1993? Mmmm. The Bill Clinton years!!!

The report put most of the blame on Tenet. But no one in the administration will even deign to comment on the report. Executive privilege, schmivelege.

Who gave tenet the medal again? Yeah, thank you.

Not at all! The CIA was wide awake about 911 because of course it had a huge presence in "engineering & instigating" 911 along with its cohorts in Israel and the Pentagon!
Fact is these phony press stories that aim to deflect 911 blame from the CIA and the Bush White House are increasing in number - and incredulity. The reason must be that the US public is becoming more aware of the official 911 story "inconsistencies" and so more convinced that 911 had to be an "inside job"!

This is news? The headline should simply read DUH.

"Sadly, the CIA's 9/11 accountability review serves as a sobering reminder that the Bush Administration policies for the past six years have failed to capture or kill Osama bin Laden," the West Virginia Democrat said. "Nor have the administration's policies deprived Osama bin Laden and other senior al-Qaida leaders of the safe haven they need to plot against the United States

The report basically blames Tenet fer, among other things, not resolving the turf war between the CIA and NSA on the issue of OSB and the AQ as only someone in his position of authority could have.

Spud finds it interesting that the only reason we're reading this one time internal report is because Bush passed a law to make it so.

Trying to spread the blame around so as to make themselves look not quite so bad?

Good luck with that.

Be Well.

The CIA and NSA were basically gutted by the
Senate and Congress after 1989. No Russians,
No Worries. The entire structure, DOD,CIA,NSA,DIA
DARPA,DARO etc. etc. real decay happened under
Clinton's watch.

One needs only to look back at Kerry's attempts in
1994 trying to pull 80% of funding for black ops.

I didn't think the CIA could operate here in the USA.

You're right rea, peace broke out when The USSR buckled and we said, "the hell with spying, we don't need no stinkin spys."

Russia steps up military expansion

www.guardian.co.uk

this is primarily because of Bush and only Bush. Read it and you'll notice in there they talk about re-evaluating the situation after the US election.

We're not talking about the same people that ran a "secret" airline? You know, the only ones painted all white. You know!!! The secret people.

And someone is wondering how they got fooled?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOK!!!

I hope no one got paid producing this report, talk about a no-brainer!

as i've heard it... upon hearing of the 9/11 attacks over breakfast, tenet's first words were something related to bin laden. that's the first thing that rang in his marble filled head.
that would lead one to conclude that he was aware of the possibilities at least to some extent. odds are to a great extent.

this is the biggest shocker.... "No comprehensive report focusing on bin Laden was written after 1993"
i am no clinton fan in any way but that's alarming considering the cole, etc...
i'd heard also that clinton passed along the following info to bush on the way out the white house door... something akin to 'the greatest threats we face are from north korea and bin laden'. clinton has made this remark numerous times.
i assume that he is telling the truth here as it has nothing to do with oral sex.

is there anyone in dc who isn't asleep at the wheel, getting a bj or living easy off of our taxes?

SENSE:

The answer to your last question is NO.

Once the voters elect the the most disingenuous people we can possibly find, we stick a silver spoon in their mouth and give them a credit card.

Then we complain.

Go figure ~

Presidential Medals of Freedom for everyone.

They spend most of their time undermining humanity to produce profits for the elites, creating then arming those whom take offense at their actions.
Nice little circle of evil. Corporate America is their master, they employ most of the people engaged in these activities.
CEO? CFO? COO? Nope.
CIA, NSA, etc, etc, etc.

Must be nice to get a paycheck from the citizens of this country, while selling them out.

All fucking CRIMINALS!

Even before Bush became president, Tenet briefed Bush, Rice, and Cheney on what the CIA considered the three greatest threats to the US. One of those threats was OBL and Al-Qaeda. What did Bush do between January 2001 and 9/11 to deal with that threat? Start digging, lapdog, start digging.

The guy who was really asleep at the wheel was the Cowboy from Crawford. Prior to beocming president, he, Cheney, and Rice received a briefing from Tenet in which the DCIA identified what he perceived at the three greatest threats to the US. One of those threats was OBL and Al-Qaeda. What did the Cowboy do about that threat between January 2001 and 9/11?

I was all set to copy this

and then say......uh no, this is not true.....it was bush all along who was in cahoots with the hijackers so he could have thousands killed on 9/11 just so he could go after sadaam for trying to kill the old man and while he was there he would just take over the iraqi oil and divy it up amongst his oil buddies....

but then I read doc's post and he does a much bette job of showing the lefts bullshit on this issue than mine.......

much like katrina........all parties were asleep or not paying enough attention for SEVERAL YEARS.......and that includes the golden days of golden boy with his pants around his ankles in the oval office.

Yeah, BL2, you read it but you didn't absorb anything from it. No surprise there. Give my best to your Congresswoman.

ah the ole sekulla-gibbs deflection.....

damn will you and boyd ever come up with something else????

so I guess your point is that clinton might have known that same thing but it was bush who was the one who was asleep?

my point is that many on the right blame everybody for not doing something and the left only blames bush........generally speaking of course......there might be some lib who says they all were at fault, but they dont talk much.

ah the ole sekulla-gibbs deflection.....damn will you and boyd ever come up with something else????

You sent the pitch over the plate, bubba.

I don't know what Clinton knew, but I do know that Bush, Cheney, and Rice received that briefing before Bush became president.

And I can even give you a source, unlke you, who "read it somewhere."

Try Bob Woodward, Bush at War. Bon apetite.

I haven't yet read "Bush at War," but I have read "Plan of Attack."

I always have two images in my mind when I read "Bush at War": Dubya in a flight suit wearing a bra on the outside at a bar gettin' loaded, and Bush cowering somewhere in a bunker, being rocked slowly by Unka Dick.

I'm expecting UTA has never read the 9-11 Commission Report. Speaking of which, whatever happened to those posters that had all 19 terroists listed on them, with the flight numbers they were going to take, that Clinton had hidden away?

I think Bush and Rice did an admirable job during the summer of 2001, when the NSA, CIA, and the guy down at the Kwikee-Mart said al queda was going to attack in the late summer or early fall. The handling of the August PDB ("okay you covered your ass")and the ignoring multiple (26?)warnings showed us the early signs of GWB's leadership which we all see in his GWOT as well as his afghanistan and Iraq invasions.

Simple fact. Bush was president when the U S was attacked by a foreign power. He didnt stop it. He has been unable to capture the leaders of the invading foreign power for 6 years. failure after failure

... and the Pentagon, and the State Department, and the FBI, and the INS, and the FAA, and NORAD and can't forget the White House (still hell bent on spending for a worthless anti-ballistic missile system).

Everyone except Richard Clark, Richard Esposito (killed in the twin towers) and Kenneth Williams. Williams wrote the Phoenix Memo two months before 9-11 warning the FBI about eight Arabs in flight school with ties to terrorism.

A clear consistent pattern of Butt Covering Skills qualifies Politicians and Administrators to high office. They abuse their positions of Power using half truths, coverups and blatent lies to pass the buck and punish the lowest ranks possible for their own indifference and incompetence.

Its part of the human pecking order in a bureaucracy, known during WWII as Catch-22.

I don't get it - are you talking about Gannon, Rove, or Bush?

I guess after 8 years of covering up Clinton's sexual contacts they just got lazy.

I guess after 8 years of covering up Clinton's sexual contacts

Child's play, compared to the fuck job and rimming we've taken from the GOP.

What did they do to you doc?

You do realize the the 9/11 attacks didn't happen while Bush was being sworn in, right?

He had 3/4 of a year to fix any problems, along with being told that "OBL determined to attack inside the US"........but don't mention that, it spoils your argument.

One needs only to look back at Kerry's attempts in

Funny thing is, Cheney voted to slash an even higher percentage during his time in congress.
