Hurricane Dean, a monster Category 5 storm, made landfall on Mexico's Caribbean coast on Tuesday, with roaring winds and heavy rain that battered beach resorts where thousands of tourists huddled in shelters.

Bush's fault.

Signed,

The left.

I was reading it was in the direct path of some Mayan ruins like Talum, I hope it wasn't damaged, that place is truly amazing.

Interesting enough the US Military had already stock piled supplies necessary for the recovery BEFORE the storm even hit. Why don't they do the same when a hurricane threatens the US?

Weren't there a ton of supplies ready prior to Katrina? Wasn't that what the Mayor and the Governor were blasted for not properly distributing? Or were you looking for an answer more like:
Because Bush hates black people and loves mexicans?

Here's a hint, if you're bagging on originality it's best not to copy the style of the post you are making fun of (I know, I know, it was the irony)...BTW, do you have a problem with Northguy's tired posting styles or just the ones from anyone right of center?

Weren't there a ton of supplies ready prior to Katrina?

Yes.

If there were supplies why didn't the military distribute them to the people dying in front of the convention center? Supplies did come but they were not here right after the storm

Because Bush hates black people and loves mexicans?

No, I just find it strange that we have all of this red tape to get through in order to get supplies to US citizens, but when it comes to getting aid to other nations there is no bureaucratic bull shit to impeding the delivery of the supplies. I wasn't pointing the finger at Bush, you two num-nutzes (sp?) automatically assume that I did. Plenty of blame to go around on Katrina boys, except for when it comes to this bad ass:

Supplies did come but they were not here right after the storm

Better keep reelecting those local officials then after such a bang-up job...

Weren't people dying at the convention center because savage new orleans citizens decided that was the best time to go a raping and a stabbing?

I would guess it also had to do with the fact that where Dean hit, after the storm it probably wasn't so badly flooded, meaning supply trucks can get into the area, where with Katrina wasn't the entire area surrounding the stadium flooded?

I was watching the news this a.m. showing everyone buying plyboard in anticipation of the storm. Why does everyone have to buy this stuff before every storm?
Do people throw their plyboard away after every hurricane? I would think they would save it for the next one.
I always wondered why people affected by a lot of storms don't install storm shutters. Than you could just close them before the storm hits. They might cost a little extra but I would think in the long run you would save money. You might even get a break on your Homeowners insurance.

""I was reading it was in the direct path of some Mayan ruins like Talum, I hope it wasn't damaged, that place is truly amazing.""

Wouldn't want the ruins turned into....er....ruins.

101,

I have a problem with idiotic statements like Pub4ever's.

Unless Uncle Karl handed the keys to a nifty weather control device when he announced his resignation, which is I am sure you can agree highly unlikely, it is beyond comprehension that anyone on the left would accuse Bush of creating Hurricane Dean.

And 101, there is right of center and then there is so far right you're about to fall off the edge of the flat earth, so what do you think?

There are plenty of true political differences you can debate me on, but nipping at an idiot? Well, if that's the best you have I suppose we can work with it.

Rob the real problem came from the fact that there was no coordination between the Feds, Blanco and city officials because each level had set guidlines to follow before anyone could move. The guard, police, and fire dept. could have easily done air drops but no one would work together to get anything done.

Better keep reelecting those local officials then after such a bang-up job...

I don't live in Orleans Parish so I don't vote for those idiots/criminals. If I had my druthers I would wipe the slate clean. We are losing businesses here because of all of the corrupt and inept politicians in freaking Orleans Parish.

Trees,
My apologies, you are correct. I was on an "attack spree" and could have chosen a better thing to snipe at.
I am not familiar with Rep4Ever's posts (or yours for that matter). Mea culpa.

101,

No worries. I myself am nicotine deprived and therefore more rabidly unpleasant than usual. I am sure we could find something "worthwhile" to argue about. ;p

I don't live in Orleans Parish so I don't vote for those idiots/criminals.

I didn't mean you specifically, i meant the people of New Orleans...

To reelect the same officials who got them into that mess, just lead me to write off the city entirely. I could honestly care less about the people of New Orleans after they did that.

TreesGoneWild, sorry if I offended you, but you've got to admit that many lefties here were trying to blame Bush and the GOP for all the hurricanes from a couple of years ago. Plus, they want to blame the GOP for global warming. Heck, if we only would have elected a Democrat, none of this would be happening, and Christopher Reeve would be walking again.

I'm partisan alright, but far from an idiot.

instead of taking party line sides, let's look at Katrina from an objective standpoint-

If Katrina was to hit a poor black community, what would an acceptable response time be?

If Katrina was to hit a ranch in Crawford TX, the Hamptons, or a rich white coastal suburb, what would an acceptable response time be?

Hell, I don't care that he gave a friend of his a cush job that he had no right being in-

but if the response times for either scenario are 1 second different,

then you have your answer. no party lines. no BS.

what if the response time were slower for crawford, tx?

If Katrina was to hit a ranch in Crawford TX, the Hamptons, or a rich white coastal suburb, what would an acceptable response time be?

Is Katrina the only hurricane to hit during the 7.5 years Bush has been in office? No, so we have plenty of data to look at. Look at the hurricanes that hit Florida, poor areas were hit, also Mississippi is about as poor as it gets and it was hit really hard.

This had nothing to do with race, and everything to do with an entire city being flooded and poor preperation before the storm hit.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you
know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she
chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."

I just received an offer for 7 days and 6 nites in Cancun for only 300 dollars.

I'll sell it for 450 and stay home.

What, with 6 man made lakes and numerous rivers, trees, wildlife and all the corn you could ever eat I don't find any need to travel. Besides, I don't need to travel to meet mexicans they like it here even as much as I do. It's probably the corn that attracts them.

Tortillas anyone?

Kinda hard to hurt a pile of rocks.

Hey Dems, is this Bush's fault? Don't Bush and Cheney control world-wide weather patterns?

Or were you looking for an answer more like:

Si.

instead of taking party line sides, let's look at Katrina from an objective standpoint-

The first responders should be the local officials, next the state and third, the feds.

The feds did a poor job but the other two agencies did nothing at all. Oh, excuse me. The local cops went around and gathered everyone's guns up. An illegal act if there ever was one.

The local and state officials got a pass and even got re-elected on their incompentance. Is that a squared away place or what?

You know it is really sad when catastrophic disasters from a month in 2005 of natural and man-made causes occurred in the US that affected & devastated the lives of nearly a million people of the states of FL, LA, MS & AL from Katrina, including a major metropolitan city and TX/LA from Rita and still is after 2 yrs., can inspire such 'non-hilarious' one-liners fueled by the myths, misinformation, rumors, legend and utter political b.s. during the aftermaths.

In all the information I have read in the past 2 yrs & reports I have heard, I have not heard one Liberal, Democrat, 'poor black', or 'backwards southerner' say that Pres is so 'all powerful' that he and/or the repub party could generate and/or control a hurricane. I take that back, there was that one website but it was 'bizarro world' and didn't seem to be of any political party, at least on this planet. But nevertheless, NO ONE that I know has said 'Hurricane Katrina, the storm, was Pres fault' except repubs. So could you guys retire that same old irritating statement that manages to get posted on nearly every website. When a 8yr old kid hears someone make that remark as a snark and replies, 'that guy must be stupid if he thinks the president makes hurricanes'. You know it is pretty juvenile and lame.

G-D is punishing Mexico for sending 12-20 million illegal immigrants to the U.S.

Shit, boys.

They're all wetbacks today.

I'm sure the wind will drive them North.
