An Iraqi provincial governor was blown up by a roadside bomb on Monday in what appeared to be an escalation of a power struggle between rival Shi'ite factions that threatens to destabilize the country's oil-producing south.

Where the fuck is bird flu when you need it?

Al Qaeda in Iraq?

Not.

But somebody will say it is.

quick a tax cut or someone kidnap a blond haired girl.

the right.

Any bets on when the calls for a "strong leader" to control these factions will begin?
...and the war machine keeps turning.

Happened outside Baghdad?
Then it really doesn't count.

Dear Govenor's Widow,

Your now deceased husband is part of the quagmire I predicted over a decade ago.

However, he did not die in vain. Halliburton stock continues to acheive new highs in spite of a little insurgency and death here and there.

Yes, I have to admit, it has been well worth it to lie to the world, enter Iraq, and then pull the patriot card to shut up anyone who opposes DARTH CHENEY'S will.

Thanks for your contribution to the corporations and globalization that make our world a better place to live.

When we accomplish a one world government, maybe I can throw a tax cut your way! Interested?

Sincerely,

Darth

DARTH CHENEY'S will.

It won't be too long before we get to read it.

Seems there's as many iraqi govs as there are AQ leaders or "2nd in command".

God bless america, spreading freedom and dumbocracy at the speed of 500,000 corpses and mounting. The country of love and compassion strikes again.

If you let the numbers speak, the u.s. is more terrifying than any freak with a bomb strapped to his turban.

The country of freedom and democracy strikes again.

I had that thought a while ago, but I don't think even that can work anymore. It would have to be a new Saddam, a secular Sunni, so that he wouldn't align with Iran.

But the Shia militias wouldn't stand for it. They'd slaughter him before he could consolidate power.

Splitting Iraq in three is how this war will finally end.

Maybe its how it should have began... fix the mistake that was made a long, long time ago.

Norm: The only people who would support a sunni leader are Bush, saudistan and the sunnis. The kurds won't, either.

Splitting Iraq is probably the second worse option. It's just that all the rest are worse as long as we are wiling to support sunni insurgents as a way of trying to keep a lid on Iran.

Bush has to accept that the government we died for isn't the government we wanted and that shia and kurdish ties to Iran won't go away no matter how long Bush holds his breath and stamps his feet. And America has to learn that anytime a Republican President wants to go to war, its gonna be a disaster.

Draiden, another lefty who shits on the USA.

A regularity here at the 'retort'.

I am sure that the majority in this persons district just did not want to wait for the next election.....

democracy must be on the march....

and you know that the citizens of baghdad think mr. bush is ALLAH sent.....

"While security is returning to some areas of Baghdad, modern conveniences aren't necessarily following. The Iraqi capital is no longer the place described in the old guidebooks, a metropolis of casinos, culture and Western-run hotel chains, although vestiges of that city can still be found. Instead, unceasing violence has thrust Baghdad back to a more primitive era, forcing its people to take up pre-industrial occupations and rediscover almost forgotten technologies. The collapse of municipal water services has revived the profession of well-digging, especially in the Green Zone, where foreign diplomats are reluctant to give up their flush toilets and showers."

thank you mr. bush

Formerlib:
I shit on all of you idiots who predicted that military force could unite a country whose boundaries were more or less drawn arbitrarily.

Formerlib- are you out of the country, or are you also shitting on the USA?

It doesn't have enough sense to be a lib.
