"The formal recognition is not likely to be welcomed by the United States."

What's the problem? They're neighbors. They probably just want to sit around, drink beer, eat pork bbq, and watch football.

"When a definite decision about the trip is made, the timing will be announced to the public," Mottaki told reporters in the northeastern city of Mashhad, according to the ISNA news agency.

as opposed to bush, etal who have to sneak in.

They don't want to announce the date too soon, cause as soon as they do, al maliki is gonna get whacked so we can install a sunni strongman to fix Iraq right up. Too bad we had to kill Saddam's sons, but maybe he's got a cousin or something left over to fill the position.

IF GWB is miffed about Iraq/Iran friendship, he has only his old man to blame. His "rise up, okay our mistake, we're gonna have to help Saddam put you back down", game with the shia played a big role in shia reconciliation following the Iran/Iraq war.

It is a very hard slap in the face for Dumbya considering the announcement last week that the Iranian military is a terrorist organization.

The Iranian military was not deemed a terrorist organization. Once again you don't know what you're talking about.

As I recall, the declaration specified the Revolutionary Guards---though it should probably have been even more narrowly drawn, if drawn up at all---and not the Iranian army, navy, or air force.

Whic is not to take away from the point that Bush and Ahmadinejad speak the same black-white language of religously-inflamed ignoramuses.

Oh, well excuse me, part of the Iranian military, either way my post still is true, an invitation to Ahmadinejad is a slap in the face for the liberator of Iraq.

Or do you think this developement means that our "liberation" of Iraq has lessened Iran's power and influence in the ME???

has bush declared that he will wipe iran off the face of the planet?

does bush throw women in jail who don't abide by the propper christian dress code?

does bush throw women in jail who don't abide by the propper christian dress code?

No, but he throws them in jail for wearing anti-him t-shirts.

Hell, if iran's revolutionary guard is labelled a terrorist org, by the same logic, all highly-specialized and tactical unit of any military could be labelled the same. Fuck, even the cia could be described as a terrorist org.

Well they are a free country able to invite whomever they wish. With Saddam out of the way they can entertain Iranian dignitaries. Why it was just a few years ago the U.S. was fueling enmity between the two nations... playing both sides and helping send millions of souls to Allah. They might like to have a friendly chit chat and heal some old wonnds.

No, but he throws them in jail for wearing anti-him t-shirts.

last i saw that old couple trying to get their 15 min of fame ended up getting that and 80 K no?

....sounds a bit better than an iranian prison.... but believe what you want.

The Iranian president should visit Iraq so he can see his troops bombing Iraqi villages, arming the insurgency, and killing American troops.

The Revolutionary Guard was named a terrorist organisation so that Bush doesn't have to go to Congress to get permission to bomb Iran.

Cause heaven knows, there ain't even any Republicans who trust Bush not to screw up.
He'll do it right after the 2008 elections, and leave the mess for the next President to clean up, just like his daddy did with Somolia.

as opposed to bush, etal who have to sneak in.

No one will try to kill him. He is giving weapons to the insurgants and the US forces wouldn't even think of blowing him up. So what's your point?

Whats so surprising about Iraq inviting Iran? Both nations are led by the Shia faction of Islam. Nuff said? It's Bush that doesn't get the connection. We've lost and don't know it.

"No one will try to kill him."

Sniper, given the fact that we are now paying and arming the sunnis terrorists that have been busy blowing up shia by the hundreds, you may want to interject some reality into your rants.

Since George Bush wasn't invited to this mini-summit, it stands to reason that his name is going to come up a time or two.

Maybe they're going to discuss ways to solve their mutual problems without the help of the United States.

Wow! . . . what a revolutionary idea!

Bad news for the neo-cons though. This doesn't bode well for Cheney's perpetual war.
