Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's vast wealth is spread over a dizzying array of foreign and domestic investments that at times have been sold to avoid conflicts with his public stances, the trustee of his blind trust said Monday.

Yeah right.

Pretty private for public office huh? Carry on.....

This is what you get from campaign finance "reform."

2. Money whores who suck up to lobbyists.

Kinda like Dumbya's DWI arrest records locked up in Daddy Bush's library.

As an apologist for the most secretive presidency ever you got nothing to bitch about.

What does that have to do with this thread Jimmboy? I guess records about being in the WHITE HOUSE is not as important as a DWI arrest? Considering all the bitching this lil' community does about this president, and secrecy, yet, your only response is to push the blame back to bush? Jimmboy is just one post you show your true colors. Congrats.

None of the crop of candidates presented to us, are worthy of office, or respect. But you'll vote for one of them, because they are "successful" in their pursuit of gold and thrones.
While they pick your pockets clean, to subsidise their wealth.

Romney, like all the other "candidates", represent the worst of our society, and humanity.

Nothing but human garbage.

Bill Gates for President!

And every other candidate from both parties you tool.

What does that have to do with this thread Jimmboy?

About as much as yours. So try not to act all offended at an off topic post responding to your off topic post. Save your mock outrage.

so what if I were to stay ON TOPIC and comment on your off topic comment about the off topic comment that became on topic when we talked about the topic both on and off, THEN could we get back to the topic that we got off of in the first place.,

and in closing.

'would a wood chuck, chuck.......'

now try and tell me I wasnt in the education business for 30 years.

and I trust this is ON topic.

yes BUT you on the left NEVER seem to remember just how filthy rich dems are..........

No, I am keenly aware of just how little all the candidates have in common with the average American.

It is the RIGHT that believes the rhetoric that the candidates you choose represent your best interests.

Tell us again how you loved voting for Tom Delay. I am sure that you are sure he was looking out for you.

At least he'd be hard to bribe.

Like Abramoff? Seems to me he was pretty wealthy too.

Like Bush and Cheney?

Like Clinton?

Like Randy Cunningham?

"I either want less corruption or more of a chance to participate in it."

At least he'd be hard to bribe.

It appears to me that the more they have, the more they want so I have to take exception to your statement.

I think the best solution to the power grabbers would be term limits. Like 6 years. What is good for the president is good for the congress.

we should go back to the times when our reps were sent off to dc and then they left shortly......and for one main reason...

so that they had to live in the real world under laws that they themsleves made.......wouldnt that change shit in washington????????

I agree with that one, but it seems that the grand old GOP and Newt conveniently forgot about their contract on America promise to institute term limits once they acheived their goal of a majority in the house.

And every other candidate from both parties you tool.

Not Ron Paul.

nor gravel either.,

and something else he and paul have in common.

no chance to see the whitehouse unless they are invited to dinner by mister president of 08

fred thompson.

CUE SEKULA GIBBS REMARK HERE........

At least he'd be hard to bribe.

No, people don't get to be rich by passing up bribes.

""I think the best solution to the power grabbers would be term limits. Like 6 years. What is good for the president is good for the congress.""

I always used to oppose term limits but I think I have changed my mind about that. It's time.

ROTFLMAO
Good one, Mr. Garrison.

Danni - don't change your mind. With term limits, power gets concentrated behind the scenes, with lobbyists. It's a terrible idea. Concentrate on getting the money out of politics, or at least full disclosure of all the gobs of money in politics.

Reading these posts just underlines the sad state that our country is in. I cannot remember any time that we as a country have been as divided as we are now. Unless we can somehow instill in our so-called leadership the need for a unified, bi-partisan government that works for the people and not their party, this country will spiral into chaos..

Montecore,

Things we will never see in our lifetimes....

1. Term limits.

2. Meaningful campaign finance reform.

3. Effective lobbying legislation.

JimmyWallback, it was the contract "with" America. Please get it right.

I too was disgusted with the Republicans when they abandoned their pledge to vote term limits into law. It's time to put a stop to career politicians.

r4ever-yer wrong-dude-he may have "called" it Cotract WITH....

But-Contract ON Amerca was a more fitting description.
Especially considering-one of things he was working for was a PERMANENT Republican Majority.
Permanent one Party rule-no choices.

That's as Un American as it gets.

Frank, maybe I'm just really naive, but don't both parties try to get a permanent majority? I mean, neither party goes "Well, we've been in power for a good 10 years - let's let the other guys have a shot at it"... Both sides seek to get the majority and maintain the majority. They lose it when, like this last Nov., citizens get fed up with their shenanigans.

Back on topic, it's no suprise Romney's filthy rich. He is a really successful businessman, helped turn the '02 Olympics around, etc. Too bad being rich does not necessarily mean he'll be a good president (but he will be able to pay for a whole heckuva lot of ads for himself!) Unfortunately the idea of a "common man" (or woman) in the WH is totally unacheivable these days.

Frank55, on this one, you're too easy to refute. Calling it a contract "on" America was the lefties way of making it sound like a "hit" piece. Plus, working for a permanent Republican majority is fine as long as it's done through the ballot box. I'm sure you would be pleased with a Democrat majority, eh? And by the way, since you still have the choice to vote for the Democrats, how is it that the Contract With America was un-American?

Bartimus,"He is a really successful businessman." Yeah, it also helps to be born the son of a multimillionaire politician. Little bit of a kickstart there.

He also got out of Viet Nam thanks to a two-year "mission" to France for the Mormon church. Ah, at least he has passed on this tradition to his five idiot sons.

What does that have to do with this thread Jimmboy? I guess records about being in the WHITE HOUSE is not as important as a DWI arrest? Since you want to split hairs, then how about Bush's military records?

How about his "conversation" (he wouldn't testify) with the 911 commission?

How about all the 911 report blackouts regarding the Saudis?

All while president.

Is that WHITE HOUSE enough for ya?

Romney was an awful governor and will make an incredibly awful president.....magic panties and all.

America should be tired of men who put the country "in the hands of god" and who proclaim that "god has a plan" as if what they do has no bearing.

mister president of 08

fred thompson.

Bush will probably still be President in 2008, unless you're thinking Cheney "goes away", Fred gets the VP nod and then Bush "goes away".
There are worse things in the world, though I would expect Fred to quit (again) if a good movie or TV deal came up.

I happened to read another article that listed his assets

Gambling? Stem Cell research?

Hmmm Quite at odds with his publicly and morally stated stances
