The Chinese really know how to hold themselves accountable! When a Chinese manager says that they accept responsibility, they really mean it.

Pure greed. It's not like the friend wouldn't have been able to make a profit selling regular paint. But selling fake paint makes you a giant profit, and that's all that matters to the business world.

Perhaps, but they also have a several millennia head start. They've lasted the entire time. We could learn a lot from them, actually.

This is all especially sad because Mattel and Fisher Price are trusted brands. It's bad enough that they use offshore labor but it's even worse when they do it with absolutely no oversight. Stuff from China is cheap for a reason.

It's clear that the Chinese government doesn't monitor anything. I expect more from American corporations, especially ones that sell their products to children. In this case, they potentially put the welfare of close to a million of our children in danger. Somebody at Mattel dropped the ball with their production facilities.

Though, somehow I doubt any American will actually see any jail time over this. I do think sending a Mattel exec. to prison for 1 day for each child he endangered would be reasonable.

Maybe we should start labeling everything from China with a standard warning: "DANGER: This product was made in China and may be dangerous to your health."

Now if some of our corrupt CEO's who will do anything for a buck would only follow suit.

You actually believe that US corporations are morally better than chinese? Ha, Ha, Grow up. US corporations are only interested in profits. If they were so concerned about the chinese products they buy they would do much more testing on them. They did nothing. Don't blame the Chinese blame US corps. I mean shit you have heard of products like Phen-phen haven't you? wonderful Amurikan made products have killed far more Americans than Chinese products have. And the reason why American products have gotten safer? Ralph Nader. a wonderful liberal.
