Sad, but it does prove what I've been saying all along:

Contrary to popular belief, I have never been Merv Griffin.

Merv was someone who made what he did look easy by being the best at it. Always gentle, kind, and gracious, we haven't many like him anymore.

RIP Merv

I have enjoyed his Jeopardy show a lot over the years, sad to see him go.

Isn't there a new Crossword show supposed to be coming out this fall? I wonder if it will go on not that Merv is gone.

He left a lot of money to some lucky person, or persons.

My moms out lived him, she'll be 88 tomorrow.

I guess massaging the prostrate for 60-some odd years didn't help.

Still, Merv was cool.

I'll take Death for $200, Alex

Merv Giffin is worth billions. I just read where he is leaving about half to his son Tony, Tony's wife and their two little kids. The two grandkids will each get an educational trusts and regular trusts -- worth multi-millions -- and the rest of his will donates millions to charities. Merv Griffin was always a decent guy and I never read any bad stuff about him.

MERV -- GOD REST YOUR SOUL AND THANKS FOR "JEOPARDY"!

My moms out lived him, she'll be 88 tomorrow.

I always knew you were a Log Cabin Repud, BootLicker!

I wish from now on every rich folks who have too much money to pass on to posterity do something for Mexico --- to open the eyes of the billionaires down there to do something for its own poor.

Leave something for the poor, that is....

Allot a certain amount to go into skill schools, special education programs, village developments,
NGOs, etc. Over time this will hopefully prevent many from wanting to cross border illegaly. Having a richer neighbor is better than ......

ITSME

I wish from now on every rich folks who have too much money to pass on to posterity do something for Mexico --- to open the eyes of the billionaires down there to do something for its own poor.

You were probably not aware that Mexico is the RICHEST country in all of Latin American, has more millionaires than there are in Switzerland, and that the man who beat out Bill Gates for richest man is a Mexican living in Mexico.

I agree with you 100% that it is a disgrace the way the poor in Mexico -- almost half the country -- have to live but it is Mexico's fault. EVERY CENT goes right into the pockets of Mexico's rich oligarchy and their very corrupt politicans. Mexico INTENTIONALLY sends their poorest indigenous people over our borders for us to pay for because the Mexican 'elite' want to keep the money for themselves and they stop any political unrest by their poor by shoving them over here into our country.

The U.S. sends hundreds of millions of dollars to Mexico in aid and help and WHERE IS THE MONEY? In the personal bank accounts of the Mexican self-styled "elite".

If we really want to help the poor of Mexico we would DEMAND physical proof from Mexico's leaders that our U.S. foreign aid to that country is being used to help its poor and indigenous people. Put that foreign aid to work and build the poor of Mexico schools and hospitals, put the poor to work -- at decent wages -- building up Mexico's roads and infrastructure -- THAT is how we can really help the poor of Mexico -- not just throwing money over there to be stolen by the corrupt oligarchy that runs that country.

CalifChris You confusald Me. Either it's Yes You are 40 Something or Yes I am wrong to assume You are 40 something. SO WHICH IS IT.

Larry -

Yes, I know ONE word answers can be sooooo confusaling so let's try it one more time. Yes, you are wrong to assume I am 40 something -- sort of like that old song "Yes, we have no bananas"

I always knew you were a Log Cabin Repud, BootLicker!

/Mourn Merv

CalifChris,

I said NGOs, not govt officials. Of course the former may not be perfect too, but letting them get employment through this and helping the poor is better.

Ideas....

Buy a bus or two for a community so they can earn money from it.

Build better roads (employing locals) for a village so they can have better access to ply their produce to cities.

Open nursing school for some rural areas so they can serve their country, or legally apply to serve in the US (many Philipinos get here through this avenue).

Things like that.

Not to rain on his final parade, but Merv Griffin was one of the uber-wealthy California reactionary Republicans that made California what it is today. Crumbling infrastructure, shitty schools and low quality of life outside the gates of the manors.

He was a staunch conservative and not known for philanthropy.

You know, "compassionate".

Plus he had the coolest band in talk-showdom.

Check out Herb Ellis on Guitar. He did some stuff with Joe Pass that will stand the test of time and t i m i n g.

"Not to rain on his final parade, but Merv Griffin was one of the uber-wealthy California reactionary Republicans that made California what it is today. "

How did he have an impact on their infrastructure if he was not an elected official? Did he buy them off and make them build shitty bridges, hire shitty teachers or what?

"he also owned some of the best race horses in california,"
Was Jeff Gannon one of them?

I read that Merv, Henry Kissenger, George Bush, George Schultz, William F. Buckley and a bunch of other elite pervo satin worrishiping spit swappers were Bohiemien Grove pals....
They'll be missing you at the Molech Daily worship hot tub social this year Merv.

Molech, a deity to whom child sacrifices were made throughout the ancient Middle East. The name derives from combining the consonants of the Hebrew melech ("king") with the vowels of boshet ("shame"), the latter often being used in the Old Testament as a variant name for the popular god Baal

Bohemian Club

The August 2, 1982 edition of Newsweek magazine reported: "... the world's most prestigious summer camp - the Bohemian Grove - is now in session 75 miles north of San Francisco.
Mother Jones, August 1981 volume 6 page 28, reported a partial list of some of the prominent members: "George P. Shultz, Stephen Bechtel, Jr., Gerald R. Ford, Henry Kissinger, William F. Buckley, Jr., Fred L. Hartley, Merv Griffin, Thomas Haywood, Joseph Coors, Edward Teller, Ronald Reagan, A. W. Clausen, George Bush, William French Smith, John E. Swearingten, Casper W. Weinberger, Justin Dart, William E. Simon, and hundreds of other prominent politicos and businessmen."
newsmine.org

Recent [O'Brien and Phillips, TRANCE Formation of America (pp 170-1)] information may radically change this perception of Bohemian Grove. Not merely drunkenness, unbounded use of alcohol and drugs with vague homosexual tones (confirmed by our sources) but reported activities much more serious - kidnapping, rape, pedophilia, sodomy, ritual murder. Investigation is blocked under the 1947 National Security Act. (!) And like the Omaha child abuse case, includes illegal detention of children.

The Global Elite are one sick bunch.....

How did he have an impact on their infrastructure if he was not an elected official?

The deterioration of California really got going under Pete Wilson, the Republican governor elected in 1990.

Among his accomplishments was the energy deregulation that let Enron rape the state's consumers.

Merv may not have been personally responsible for any of this, it is true. Perhaps I was too harsh.

I was slagging on his class, that of ultra wealthy "Pioneers" and "Rangers" who care nothing for the common good.

If you really want help for poor Mexicans then when the Chavez style revolution comes you will expect our government to respect the wishes of the majority in Mexico regardless of how they decide to redistribute the wealth. It is coming, it will involve violence, it will involve redistribution.
This is one of the main reasons Bush tries to demonize Chavez, because his revolution is spreading like wild fire in South and Central America.

Plus he had the coolest band in talk-showdom.

Check out Herb Ellis on Guitar. He did some stuff with Joe Pass that will stand the test of time and t i m i n g.

What is wrong with you lib Democrats? What does Merv Griffin have to do with California politics? The reality is that California has been dominated by a liberal Democrat legislature for as long as anyone could remember. Both Senators, Feinstein and Boxer, are both lib Dems who have been in office forever. If California is screwed up, it's liberal Democrats who did it. Let the poor man rest in peace. Democrats suck!
