What the UN needs to do is enforce Article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human rights that it adopted in 1948.

All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.

The UN will only be an impediment to resolution of the conflicts in Iraq. A good initial step would be the extermination of the Mahdi militias that supports al-Sadr.

I suppose that we should give the UN operatives a break. They're only looking for personal sinecures. And they need to engage in such posturing to conform to diplomatic rituals. i should add that rudolf giuliani was in the WTC when it collapsed, he held the super structure on his shoulders for as long as he could.. many people escaped and lived another day because of his great heroism. On the contrary one more attack on the US and that will be an indictment against Bush and the Iraq war. Did you forget that we are fighting over there so we don't have to fight them here? The terrorists won't be here BECAUSE they want us there. They are fighting a "rope a dope" scenario and wearing us down but making sure we can't leave. As I said before we are fighting their war. We have fallen into a trap and can't get out. If they really wanted us to leave they would stop fighting, hide their weapons and wait for us to go. The terrorists know and we have stated publicly if fighting stops and peace is restored we will leave. How much simpler can it be for terrorists who claim they want us to leave and not look at the answers for the test? They want us there forever because they have no time line. They will fight for hundreds of years if they think they will go to heaven by defeating the great satan.

Now that the U.N. has gotten involved, Iraq will probably get split into 3 parts separated by a 'Y' shaped DMZ (Korea style) after which the place will be overrun by white & blue Land Rovers.

Hardly. Think back to the beginning of this war and Bush's attitude towards the UN and the occupation of Iraq. Oh no, remember they were talking about how all the "spoils" would only be shared with the Coalition of the Willing and all those other foolish countries like France would be whining because they couldn't share in all the wealth.
Now, the disaster is so undeniable, Bush needs to get the troops out somehow, some "peace with honor" or other bullshit and so the UN will send in another mission who unfortunately will be a target and probably have to leave...again. Then there won't be anyone to solve Georgie's wittle pwoblem for him.
