Jon Cohen: High on the list of superpowers a campaign might wish for would be the ability to manipulate opinion surveys, and on Saturday in Ames, Iowa, Republican presidential contenders will get to live that dream through the Iowa straw poll.

Straw poll, shmall poll. Even if the republicans could awake Reagan from the dead, there is almost no chance that a republican will be in the white house after 2008! There goose is cooked. They played out the flag burning amendment, gay marriage, mexican bashing, freedom loving american cards to many times. It doesn't work anymore. Now if we only could nominate a democrat with a set of balls we might have an opposition party!

Straw polls suck.

Waste of straw

...This year's favorite, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, advertises "music, barbecue and a whole lot of fun at our tent" on his Web site.

Yahoooooo, y'all, come on down and join me and the Mrs. and our five cowardly, unpatriotic, war avoiding sons for some of that there gooood ol' bar-b-que with all the fixin's.

The Iowa straw poll was devised as a fundraising gimmick for the state party and nothing more than that.

Still, it's fuggin' hilarious.

Dumbya managed to win the day back in 1999 with a "well located" and pricey pavillion and $62,000 worth of "pulled pork" sandwiches.

Wow, that's a lot of pork pulling. Hard werk.

Course fer the legendary "Horse-Milkerer" it prolly wasn't too hard a feat.

So it's a poll but ya gotta pay to get in but nobody pays to get in because yer candidate pays for you to get in and then bribes you with sandwiches and bores you with stump speeches.

Ha! These folks are "Buy-Poller".

And yes... Spud is deeply ashamed once agin fer that last.

Be Well.

Except Ron Paul who is not doing anything for the people who will swarm the poll for him.

Well, we can agree on that CalifChris !

I wonder how Mitt explains having signed a universal health coverage bill in Massachusetts.

Not so fast, Dave. You're looking at the wrong goose that's cooked.

Warren Buffet and a few others have looked at the next election like a stock and chosen to invest in it, raising money for Hillary and Hussein Obama.

There is death and ressurrection. It ain't over until its over.

If Hillary is nominated, then you can rest assured a Republican will be the next President for 8 years.

The next President will be a "he".

If Hillary is nominated, then moveon will bitch for another 8 years, and those hyper libs can start filling forms to migrate to Canada or Europe.

It ain't over until its over.

Actually, it ain't over until Hillary sings.

'Nite.

TAKITEZ apparently Wall STreet doesn't agree with you, but hey, what do they know.
Hahahahahahaha a Dem will sit in the WH and begin to undo everything the fascists have accomplished during their reign of failure.
Personally I'm rooting for Kucinich but I'll settle for Obama or Clinton.
It will be so delicious.

GOP's Iowa Straw Poll Saturday

What a yawn.

I hope all of Ron paul's supporters get free rides to the poll and eat all the free food paid for by the other candidates trying to buy their vote -- and then they vote for Ron paul.

It would be worth having Ron Paul win the Iowa straw poll just to see the look on Romeny's face when it happened.

that's one of the better one's i've seen!
