There is no question how CO2, Freon, methane contribute to the planets heat balance. In this sense Gore is correct. Human contributions to this issue are known quantities. What is less clear is the magnitude of the other nonhuman contributions.

What should be perfectly clear is that unless there are opposing processes the planet would have lost all its water a long time ago. One such process if is the Gulf Stream, which pumps heat from the Equator to the North Pole. A warming planet may shut this pump down and in doing so trigger another ice age.

The time scales for these changes are 100,000 to 10 million years. Not to worry, Shrub will save you.

As much as I like critical thinking, you can't see thru your own bias goat. Go look over the financial statement of any of the petroleum companies and you will see they divert a reasonable amount of cash towards funding research that proves they are doing "positive" things with respect to the environment, and to disprove all those who say they are doing "negative" things.

The point of contention is whether or not those scientists they employ are putting out research that has been "shaped" by those that cut they're paychecks, or if its truly founded on sound scientific research.
