Maybe I'm looking through rose colored glasses on this one but I don't think so. I think he was under so much pressure and caught up in trying to find the "silver lining" that his mind was clouded to other interpretations of the same data. Its akin to the glass half full/half empty scenario.

I believe that the smart people around him who wanted the war found him to be very gullible and therefore easily convinced him of its merits. I believe that he was probably predisposed to the war and therefore it didn't take much to push him over the edge.

Cherry picking of intelligence indicates a predispositon toward war which gets back to the point I was trying to make in an earlier post. Give the American people the facts and let us judge for ourselves!

I don't think its just a persona. Unfortunate for America, I think it is real. His education credentials were guaranteed as a result of his membership in the Bush clan. The same can be said of his national guard service; were he not a member of the Bush clan, he may have had to go to war rather than play at war.

I remember hearing something early on in GWB's presidency, that GW was not the Bush that they wanted; they wanted Jeb. However, Jeb wouldn't run. Rumor has it that they reluctantly turned to GW but decided that they had to surround him with heavy weights to keep him out of trouble.
