Just last week one of the righties here was telling us that this case didn't even deserve and investigation. They were basicly saying this was just a left wing fishing expedition.
Seems like every time we go fishing these days we hook something big from the depths below all that the Bush administration touches.

Americans do seem to be pretty insensitive to the murder of anyone with brown skin.

It is not unusual for soldiers in battle especially for the first time to act scared, freeze, etc. Especially with the lack of training the US is giving to its troops nowadays before they are sent to a war zone. It's up to their buddies to support them not humiliate them. This is the fundamental thing that they try to teach in basic training. The quotes from Tillman to his fellow soldiers, if true, are starting to paint him as an asshole. So if he was fragged it wouldn't be all that surprising. A tight grouping head shot from an automatice weapon at a distance is pretty much impossible unless the weapon is held in a vice.

What would be truly amazing is if it all came out. Cover up upon cover up. But hey we are getting use to that.

I read where he thought the war in Iraq was an illegal action (bullshit war) and he was going to make his views public. Thats why this tragedy/scandal reaches all the way to Rummy. It was a fraggin condoned at the highest levels which goes to show how far this corrupt administration will go to shape the image of this war. Remember Jessica Lynch?

And the truly sad and shameful fact is that the US can maintain forces in the Middle East for the next century and nothing will change. The US has learned nothing from the history of the region and is still under the false illusion that yet more force will bring peace.

Except you are conveniently forgetting one important fact....Iraq was a secular state before the US invasion. It was not under Sharia law. Women were much more liberated there than in most any other middle eastern nation, for example. Now that we've -- as predicted by many -- precipitated a civil war and made it possible for the religious nuts to gain power, Iraq is becoming more and more like what you describe...

Neither. Tillman was an Army Ranger. "Green Berets" are the moniker given to Army Special Forces; SEALs are Navy Special Forces (Sea-Air-Land).

I have to say...does sound like a fragging and the Pentagon just spun it the best they could to keep the flags-a-wavin'.

If the accounts are true then it sounds like Tillman was a real man that believed in his own ability to overcome obstacles while others cried helplessly to a sky god for help.
