In March, he was declared captured. In May, he was declared killed, and his purported corpse was displayed on state-run TV. But Wednesday, Omar al-Baghdadi, the supposed leader of an al-Qaida-affiliated group in Iraq, was declared nonexistent by U.S. military officials, who say he is a fictional character created to give an Iraqi face to a foreign-run terror group.

WTF???

In further developements, it appears that al-Baghdadi was fictionally discovered to be in possesion of a large, yet phantasmagorical cache of imaginary WMDs.

Sound slike someone's desperately trying to cover up a big boo-boo...

And perhaps trying desperately to paint Al Qaeda as having some sort of sophisticated western-style propaganda operation when there are those who know much better.

This just in : Al-Baghdadi has also been linked to Tinkerbell,Santa Claus and the Toothfairy!

I thought Jessica Lynch killed this guy years ago.

Hmmm, and the righties were simply aghast and those expressing skepticism over on the thread about the claim that the Al Qaida #1 has been captured.

And FF for Arbusto.

Nevertheless, it is a sign that the surge is working.
Did the Bushies want to give us some variety from all the saudi faces we've seen blowing people up?

Ugh. Are they lying or just stupid?

This morning on the radio, "Bill Bennett's Morning in America"--they attributed 70-80% of all attacks in Iraq to be the work of Al Qaeda.

Lies. Lies. And more lies.

Will republicans ever tell the truth. Just once would be refreshing.

What the hell? I am trying to understand this- so supposed nonfiction becomes fiction?

I'm sure we'll eventually discover that there are a lot of fictional characters out there...

Omar al-Baghdadi. Almost an anagram for Do Big Allah Drama.

Figures that the Lefties here would miss the real meat of this article:

That Al-quada a very media Saavy organization that is aggressively using propaganda as a major weapon to undermine the American and Iraqi efforts.

At the same time Democrats are sayng over and over again that we are only embroiled in a civil war in Iraq -- Al-quada admits that their "nationalistic" movement within Iraq was made-up by them to give the world that impression.

consider this quote from the article:

"According to Bergner, Mashadani helped create Islamic State of Iraq as a "virtual organization" that is essentially a pseudonym for al-Qaida in Iraq, another group that claims ties to al-Qaida. The front organization was aimed at making Iraqis believe that al-Qaida in Iraq is a nationalistic group, even though it is led by an Egyptian and has few Iraqis among its leaders, Bergner told a news conference.

"The Islamic State of Iraq is the latest effort by al-Qaida to market itself and its goal of imposing a Taliban-like state on the Iraqi people," he said."

When are democrats going to admit that Iraq, is not just a "civil war" and in fact, has become primarily a war between US/Iraq forces vs foreign al-quada and a proxy-war with Iran.

That Al-quada a very media Saavy organization that is aggressively using propaganda as a major weapon to undermine the American and Iraqi efforts.

YEAH!

Translation = They have TiVo.

What does your position say about the Administration? Have you ever seen a Middle Eastern film? Where did they hone this "Saavy" film making skill?

You do realize you sound ridiculous don't you? !

You do realize you sound ridiculous don't you? !

I sound ridiculous making the case that al-quada has waged a very smart and succesful propaganda campaign against us?

You are kidding right?

If anything, you look and sound ridiculous for denying it.

BOWA certainly intends to prove that right wingers are ignorant. He is doing a very good job at that. Right on, BOWA!

"I sound ridiculous making the case that al-quada has waged a very smart and succesful propaganda campaign against us?"

YEAH!

Especially when considering past statements referring to them as "living in the 3rd century", "Last Throes", "on the run" and "living in caves"!

But anyway, in all honesty, the most "successful" aspect of their propaganda campaign was handed to them on a silver spoon ----- courtesy of GW Bush!

Which brings us back to the query ------- What does your position say about the Administration (their performance)? And do you hold Bush accountable for your above assertion that an enemy, claimed to be "on the run" and "living in caves" is whooping America's propaganda ass?

Bushco using propoganda and lies to fool the wolrd and Americans? NOOOOOOO!!!!!

When are democrats going to admit that Iraq, is not just a "civil war" and in fact, has become primarily a war between US/Iraq forces vs foreign al-quada and a proxy-war with Iran.

Bowa, I'm not disagreeing with you on facts, but on tactics. Why are we fighting Al-Queda on their terms? Why are we fighting them on the ground in Iraq, where our troops are vulnerable, where they can hide among the local population, where they can hit our troops in hit and fade IED attacks?

FOREIGN Al-Queda is the key word. They aren't from Iraq, so we shouldn't be in Iraq. We should be doing hit and fade runs from the air on THEIR bases, not being sitting ducks for their attacks.

We don't need 150,000 troops in Iraq to fight Al-Queda. What we need are the James Bond types, the CIA work, special forces slitting throats in the black of night.
We need to be doing raids into Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Dubai, Pakistan, etc, etc.
And by raids I don't mean dropping bombs that kill civilians and turn more people to terrorism. I mean the CIA.

And the proxy war with Iran will evaporate as soon as we leave Iraq, just like our proxy war with China evaporated as soon as we left Vietnam.

History is going to look back on the 8 years of Bush as "How NOT to fight a war on terrorism".

So you finally agree with us then that Al-Queda in Iraq is a fraud? That Al-Queda WON'T be taking over Iraq after we leave, that it's all propaganda?

Cause that's what you just posted. Al-Queda has no local support, and as soon as we leave there, the Iraqis will chase them out.

So why are we spending Billions of dollars doing EXACTLY what Al-Queda wants us to do?
Go tell Bush it's all propaganda. We already knew that.

Iraq IS just a civil war, with Iran and Al-Queda using it to their advantage to snipe at us as long as we're there being sitting ducks and playing Human IED Detector.

We need to be doing raids into Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Dubai, Pakistan, etc, etc. You got that right. Let's raid our allies in the "war on terra".

They don't mind being our fueling station in the gulf. As long as we are fighting Al Queda in Iraq we don't have to fight them where they really are. In the mean time our "allies" are laughing all the way to the bank. BTW they are offering their citizens universal medical coverage building new infrastructure... hospitals, schools etc. with our tax dollars, Ironic...no?>

If anyone knows meat, it's a MEATHEAD like BOWA .

Oh and one more thing... keep ion mind that the people you are assuming to be more primitive that us have had a advanced civilization off and on for 70 centuries... as compared to our two. They are quick studies. All this stability we are offering them is just another blip in their time line.

Now THAT was funny, Zat. Thanks for the laugh.

This means Al quaida is not even in Iraq and as suspected all along the Bush bots made it up and created their own al qaida actors set up.

So now, this should put more pressure on congress to get the boys out of iraq. Nothing can be trusted with this cabal of Bush Administration as well as his GENERAL STAFF.

Sad, but the media is liberal, just a laugh that is.

We don't need 150,000 troops in Iraq to fight Al-Queda. What we need are the James Bond types, the CIA work, special forces slitting throats in the black of night.

Bingo.......but then Northrop Grumman makes nothing, not to mention cost plus contracts to Halliburton, and poor Blackwater and CACI intl feel pretty left out that their hired thugs can't run prostitution rings. Big fat bloated wars like this one are big business, and secret CIA assinations and covert airstrikes don't get any votes, and Dubya can't do his little "hee-haw" routine.

One of Clancy's best endings ever was the end of Sum of All Fears.
Baltimore is nuked by terrorists in an attempt to draw America into a new world war that would bankrupt and decimate her.
(This is also what 9-11 was designed to do, and Bush fell for it)

So how did Clancy end the book? With WWIII?
No. The leaders and planners of the bomb were hunted down like dogs. Found hiding scared and alone in the dark and shot, strangled, stabbed, until the last man, paranoid, seculded and powerless is killed.

Osama Bin Laden succeeded with 9-11 beyond his wildest dreams. He will die of old age knowing that he goaded America into a worthelss war that we cannot afford.

Norm,
Read the book it is much better. The book ends with a nuke (not a complete detonation either) at the super bowl in Denver. One of the few book endings that left me sick to my stomach.

If you want a "feel good" about how to deal with terrorists, read Clancy's Teeth of the Tiger.

Or, watch Sword of Gideon or read By Way of Deception to see how the Mossad deals with terrorists...

By "feel good" about dealing with terrorists, I mean - a "get those bastards" satisfaction as U.S. covert assassins track them down and exterminate them.

I just need to say at this time:

I am shocked!!!

NOT!!!!!!

Translation.

Al-Quaida has to appear as an Iraq group and not 'out-of-state' so they had a front man from Iraq. They wanted us to think it was an Iraq organization.

"Baltimore is nuked by terrorists in an attempt to draw America into a new world war that would bankrupt and decimate her."

"The leaders and planners of the bomb were hunted down like dogs. Found hiding scared and alone in the dark and shot, strangled, stabbed, until the last man, paranoid, seculded and powerless is killed."

Sure, if the local government were cooperating with us, that would be the best thing to do. If the local government were protecting people who nuked us, we'd have to be idiots not to go to war.

It is natural that there is a backlash against Bush, who can't respond to an attack by focusing on the right country AND is a horrendous military planner.

But to say that if the US were nuked, it would foolish to respond by going to war is just insane. In all likeliness, going to war would be the only sensible response. In real life, terrorists can't aquire nukes and plan something like this without the help of a state.

Oh damn so this means that that imaginary Woman I "Had" Last night ain't real?? Damn but She was HOT. You mean She don't count?? I am devistated.

Larry

Or, watch Sword of Gideon or read By Way of Deception to see how the Mossad deals with terrorists...

They just let 250 of them go back to the West Bank.

Not the best way to handle terrorism, imho.

Not the best way to handle terrorism, imho.

I guess I should have said "dealt" with terrorists. Sword of Gideon is about the response to 1972 Munich assasinations and By Way of Deception is just a really cool (supposedly non-fiction) book about Mossad training and a few operations.

"Translation.

YEAH!

Anyone else notice how the Fake Plastic Sons of Bitchs like to pretend they think like terrorist! Take great pride in it even!

They seem to know EXACTLY how they think 100% of the time?

Osama Bin Laden succeeded with 9-11 beyond his wildest dreams. He will die of old age knowing that he goaded America into a worthelss war that we cannot afford.

Prove that he is alive. I cannot prove that he is dead. But more likely dead than alive.

"Prove that he is alive.
I cannot prove that he is dead."

Schroedinger's Muslim.

"Osama Bin Laden succeeded with 9-11 beyond his wildest dreams."

YEAH!

He sure did! Just look how eager the america wingdings dance to his tune!

He even has the most powercfull man in the world repeating his words and the most powerful country in the world repeating his actions!

Bush and his minions of fear made OBL the most powerfull man in the world!

What is brown, smelly, very fluidly, make a sloshing noise when shaken in a "qouard"?

I don't know either but the president makes that noise when he nods his head. Curious!!
