In just three years, sales of 100-calorie packs of crackers, chips, cookies and candy have passed the $20-million-a-year mark, making them a breakout hit on par with the SnackWells low-fat fad of the 1990's.

The math is pretty simple. If you intake more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. If you do a lot of snacking, no matter what size the packages are, chances are you will consume more calories than you burn.

On a related note, why is it that after every kids sporting event, club meeting, scout meeting, etc., someone is assigned to bring snacks and drinks? I've rarely seen anyone bring something healthy, such as fruit, for example. Is it any wonder kids are getting fatter?

Hell a Hundred Calories won't even whet My Appetite. I swear they come up with some sort of gimmick all of the time. Fucking Goobernators.

Larry

People don't bring fruit because it would be a waste of money; no one's going to eat it. Be a dear, and pass me a handful of them 100-calorie snack packs; four at least.

By the way, how is this even a story?

Even a wad of spit has more than 100 calories.

They don't bring fruit because they are as fat and lazy as their kids.

I mean cutting up 40 orange slices is hard werk and certainly kids aren't worth that much effort.

Of course it's easy for me to criticize I'm skinny and so are my kids.

But....but....on the commercials it says they're healthy and it proves I love my family.

The trend of overpackaging junk food into small calorie packaging is incredibly lame. Where does it stop -- individually wrapped Cheetos?

Its all about not having to think ... and it also shows Americans are getting more and more calorie aware and that's a good thing IMHO.

Larry, as much as I disagree with about nearly everything, I'd hate to see you get diagnosed with diabetes 2 a few years down the road when you could have dodged that bullet by getting getting serious about shedding the pounds and rethinking some old habits now.

The results of doing so will not only make you healthier but happier as there are so many rewards waiting for you if you'd only go for it.

How can someone so intelligent as you are, be so stupid about this ?

individually wrapped Cheetos

LMAO

Larry,

GZ (shudder) is right. Not sure if you still have my email from a while ago but if you do drop me a line. I actualy have a few decent tips on how to drop a few pounds with just a few minor changes. I am pretty lazy so I promise you nothing I suggest will be too much work. It helped me drop about 30lb a while back and while I know your going for more than that but it should work just as well just take longer.

Yeah I have Your email address somewheres. It's on My Computer. Been thinking about GB Myself. Either that or the clamp. I will send You an email in a few. Thanks.

Larry

Been thinking about GB Myself

What is that every time your hungry you think about W and loose your apitite? Or just keep a picture of him at the breakfast table that you look at every time you eat?

I guess I could see how those strategies might work.

individually wrapped Cheetos?

How about individually wrapped jelly beans?

Bull. I've played sports and I've provided snacks to kids teams. If they are hungry enough, they will eat anything including fruit, cheese and lowfat crackers.

Rcade, these small packs come in a large box. And are a great idea.

The average America has NO IDEA what is a "serving size", and are completely clueless on what they should eat and how often. Food education/awarness is major problem in the US , and lack of understanding is definitely one contributing factor in rising US diabeties.
