North Korea plans to seal its nuclear reactor, the source of weapons-grade plutonium, in the second half of July, Russia's Interfax news agency reported on Monday, citing an unidentified North Korean diplomatic source.

As Reagan used to say: Trust but verify.

Don't break out the Champers just yet.

First off this was about the money.

"Pyongyang's move followed the release last week of the funds blocked in Macau at Washington's request for almost two years for suspected links to alleged dollar counterfeiting and other illicit activity by the North.

Pyongyang's insistence on the release had stalled international efforts to begin closing down its arms program based on a February 13 agreement
"

Now ask yerself is NK done cos the program was a failure and had to close anyway?

or...

Do they have enuff fissionable material to give them a limited but "comfortable" feeling of security because they are now another undeclared nuclear nation?

Is de-nuclearised like de-alcoholised?

Not nuclear free but nuclear "lite"?

Be Well.

If this turns out to be true (knowing Korea the Spudster and Chris are right and we need to to be wary about celebrating just yet)we may finally have some good news from this administration to cheer about!

But, perhaps this really is awesome news and could prove that attacking countries that may have weapons of mass destruction is not the best policy and that by diplomatic means rogue countries can be "convinced" to do the right thing.

I bet it was a WHOLE lot cheaper too.

I guess the ipod embargo really hit Kim where it hurts.

In lives alone the savings are considerable.

Does Li'l Kim actually listen on his ipod to
Lil Kim?

He has his own style of Martial Art he calls...

KimChi-Do

Basically, it involves throwing jars of pickled cabbage at peoples heads.

Or dropping them from a great height real sneaky like.

KimChi-Do practicioners are almost ninja-esque.

Practically.

Be Well.

Let them have their nuclear capacity. Have we not read a time or three in comments from the left that if we have it why shouldn't they (Iran, etc.) have it?

this is good news but I dont think you can compare it too much with iran. lets face it, china had a lot to do with this AS WELL AS THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION......
and there is no china hanging over iran's back talking about shutting off your lifelines.

we should also wait and see if its just talk or the real deal.

This is a TRIUMPH for Bush!! It shows that neocon foreign policy works!

Getting us back on the road of negotiation so that, with any luck, in a few years, we'll be back where we where seven years ago under Clinton! This, this is his legacy!

The check must have cleared.

Actually, I believe they have a little push to restrain by way of missiles from China. Would our economy suffer only momentarily from anyone (except Taiwan and Japan) warring with China?

I LOVE kimchi, it's already nuclear enough!

The check must have cleared.

MASSIVE FF!

Bush let NK build and set off a bomb and store enough material for 5-6 more.
They got what they wanted.
One member of the axis now nuked up, one a quagmire and the third growing in strength in the ME.

Boy, that Bush is a tactical genius, ain't he?

The next "attack" on America will be a continuation of Bush's legacy. Last month it was all about nuclear threats, and now they are realized. Lovely.
